Author has written 29 stories for Downton Abbey.

My primary objectives are very good writing and characters always consistent with canon.

Downton Abbey is one of my passions. Mr. Carson is the reason why.

All my stories will eventually be finished. I have the structural outlines for all the multi-chapter ones. I like to shift between stories, so some of them will occasionally lapse. But I'll get back to them, eventually.

DISCLAIMER: I do not own nor do I profit in any way from the use of the characters, settings, plotlines, or ideas drawn from Downton Abbey. Everything belongs to Julian Fellowes.

PS: Old stories love reviews, too. Not kidding about this. Writers write for themselves. They post in order to engage with readers. There isn't a writer out there who doesn't welcome a review.

Author's Update July 2020: Downton Abbey 1926 is well on the road to completion. I expect it to have 11 episodes plus the Christmas Special. I am aiming to have it done before yet another Christmas rolls by. Other stories are also still active and under construction. And I hope, once the decks are cleared, finally to write my version of the Carsons' honeymoon, only four or five years after the fact. ...

If you give a Carson your hand to hold, he's going to ask for a glass of milk. No, wait. If you give a Carson your hand to hold and he catches you with another man, he's going to ask for a glass of milk. No, ugh, *sigh*, just read it. [post-Series 4 - pre-Series 5] [ONE SHOT]

Downton Abbey 1926 reviews
A Season 7 project. This story takes up Downton Abbey where Julian Fellowes left it, beginning midway through 1926. This is a serious attempt at a "real" season, embracing all the major characters, and most minor ones, and major/minor plotlines for each of them. There will be 10 episodes plus a Christmas Special. Rated T for allusions to mature subject matter.

Last Words reviews
It is 1936. King Edward VIII is abdicating. Cora's brother, Harold Levinson, has recently died. Amidst this turmoil, both political and personal, Cora receives a note from someone from the past, asking to be invited to Downton. The story revolves only in part around Cora. The OC is Madeline Alsop. It's a bit off the beaten track, but inspiration struck.

Cornering A Killer reviews
Who killed Mr. Green? Concerned for Anna's welfare and exasperated by Scotland Yard, Mrs. Hughes decides to make her own inquiries. This is set sometime in Season 6 and assumes there has been at least one wedding at Downton Abbey. Parallel to the pursuit of the killer, a little Mr. and Mrs. Carson romance unfolds as well. NO SPOILERS.

No More Secrets reviews
The house party ends with a violent incident that leaves Anna distraught, Mrs. Hughes in a quandary, and Bates bewildered. But subsequent events take a different turn in this re-telling of the Anna and Bates tragedy (in more ways than one) of Season 4. Rated T for mature subject matter. No graphic details. Canon compliant to a point 3 days beyond the assault.

I Loved Her First reviews
An exploration of the father-daughter relationship between Carson and Lady Mary from the beginning. "Even a butler has his favourites," Carson tells Mary early in Season 1. This story will follow them from the first time they set eyes on each other through the end of the series in 1926. Because their stories are intertwined, Mrs. Hughes eventually comes into it.

My Beauty, My Baby reviews
Cora and Sybil share a moment on the eve of the birth of Sybil and Tom's child. This story takes place in Season 3, sometime between Episodes 4 and 5. This is a bit of a departure for me, but the title words were an inspiration.

Fear and Loathing reviews
A violent incident obliges Barrow to revisit his perspective on a few things and forces Carson to confront some unpleasant truths. The Carsons are married, but this story is non-canon, set in 1926. The rating is for violence in the first chapter and for the discussion of "mature subjects" in subsequent chapters.

Sisters reviews
Elsie hasn't visited her sister Becky in some time. When Cora offers her the opportunity to do so, Elsie must address her conflicting feelings for Becky. Meanwhile, Cora gets to exercise a little noblesse oblige in her housekeeper's favour. Not my usual bailiwick..., but Becky as one-time-plot-device struck me as a little callous.

Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes find out that getting married is a lot more complicated than a proposal and an acceptance. This story charts their progress through the obstacle course between engagement and wedding breakfast. Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes feature prominently, but the story is told from the perspectives of different characters. Canon in spirit, with much original material.

Man of Discretion reviews
John Bates is a man "who keeps himself to himself." This account provides some of the backstory to Bates's life before Downton and also seeks to give context to some of the dramatic developments involving Anna. The style here is heavily introspective and the narrative largely adheres to canon.

Enough of That reviews
Troubled by Carson's behaviour, the Dowager intervenes. Subsequent chapters chronicle Carson's adjustment to a post-Downton life through conversations and interactions with Elsie, Robert, Thomas, Mary, and (eventually) Edith...! A POST-SEASON 6 story. This story offers an antidote to the journey explored in "The Way We Live Now," which ought to be read first.

Disagreements reviews
They may love each other very much, but Charlie Carson and Elsie Hughes/Carson have always had their disagreements and this isn't going to change. This is a series of vignettes exploring how their changing circumstances affect what they disagree about and how they negotiate those disagreements: what to call each other, Mr. Green, Lady Mary, intimacy, cooking!, and Becky.

An idyllic family moment in the Bates' house inadvertently draws John's attention to a tragedy in the past. A disturbing revelation obliges him to make a tough decision about how to address it. Lessons From the Heart reviews
A Carson and Mary story. Carson advises and comforts Mary in the wake of that huge argument with Tom in S6E8 over the Marigold revelation. Here, Tom prevails on Carson to deal with Mary instead of dragging the Dowager back from France to handle it. My preference for how this should have gone. One-Shot. Now with a Chelsie Postscript.
