Cho, Rigsby, and Van Pelt are also recruited, and the former CBI team undertakes their first case with the FBI—the investigation of Lisbon's father's death, once thought to be suicide but now understood to be murder. Third in the "Into the Blue" trilogy.

"She'd always thought she would be safe from Red John. Untouchable. Jane had thought so, too. 'If he harmed you—if he touched you—the game would be over. I'd quit.' She hadn't needed to ask what he'd meant by quitting." AU after Red Rover, Red Rover.

A year after Red John's death, Lisbon runs into Jane unexpectedly. He intends on keeping a promise he made her before leaving, despite her protestations and the presence of Walter Mashburn in her life. It is an A.U., but not extreme. It will be very in canon.

Lisbon tries to get Jane to say the words before it's too late. Based on a spoiler for the rest of the season.

Over the years, after a tough day she'd also gotten used to a cup of tea and an absolutely-not-hovering consultant (a compensation the Washington Sheriff's office had never boasted). It seemed that the FBI came with that service though (more than compensating for the occasional mortal danger). Lisbon and Jane try to deal with their shifting relationship. Sequel to Consummate.

They'd slipped into old habits almost immediately upon her arrival in Texas, moving seamlessly back into the behavior patterns of partners and best friends. The trouble was, Lisbon had spent a few too many nights alone by her fireplace for this arrangement to be entirely satisfying to her anymore. She wanted more.

"He's still looking at her intently and she sees the exact moment the light in his eyes dims and a muted sadness takes its place. 'I'm gonna miss you,' he says after a moment, so quietly she strains to hear him. 'I just had to say that in person. You deserve that much.'" An alternate Jisbon good-bye scene post 6x08. Slight AU.
