![]() Author has written 9 stories for Robin Hood BBC, Misc. Books, Inspector George Gently, MI-5/Spooks, Misc. Tv Shows, Sherlock, Being Human, and Wallander. (Hello there, please if you leave a review let me know who you are, I'd love to chat but I can't if I don't know who you are...) Not much to say really, my name is, funnily enough, Caty! And no, the spelling has nothing to do with Cate Blanchett, I'm seriously old and it was my mother who embroidered it in my clothes when I was a child, so... I'm a reader and a bit of a writer. I love details and realistic characters, situations that are, at least, sort of plausible. So that means pretty much anything really! (I find Sheri Tepper more plausible than, say Emily Bronte, so make what you want of that.) Characters are so important, a very wise person once told me that 'people don't change, they adapt to the situation they are in.' In life I've found this to be true. When you write a fan fic the character already established, you can't suddenly make the villain kind and sweet. You can show why they're the way they are. They can develop more insight, maybe grow as a person, find that another way of life is better, learn to handle their anger. Learn not to see love as a threat, or sex as just an act of power. I get irritated by euphemisms, burgeoning tumescence is silly, no reason not to call a cock a cock. Anyway it often sounds better, has more impact to call things what they have always been called, history is full of cocks and cunnys! Though that said, there are times when it does get boring I suppose. Well put what YOU like, it's your story. I also agree with another lady who complained about names and little details, like when tea and potatoes were first available in Europe. If you are going to write the stuff, just look it up! The internet is loaded with info. There is really no excuse, even a well told lie is better than a stupid mistake, a Tracy living in Locksley is fine if it's: A. now. or B. time travel. Treat your characters with respect, you gave them life, your stories deserve the effort you can make best. Sex is in my stories because it is part of life, and my stories are about peoples lives, not all of them just stories. Not all of it real sex either! Some I have borrowed from the lives of others, some I just made up, some I even had. Hopefully the sex is not the focal point, but in the end it's what ever floats your boat Please, please, please comment, constructive criticism, a wee bit of abuse for cock ups, put me right, argue if you like. But I'd love to hear your thoughts on what I've written, even if you hate it. Or just say hello, stats are OK, but contact is more important to me. I have a head full of stories, that just keep coming, so beware... You're a very quiet lot of little readers, aren't you? |
