Author has written 4 stories for Spirited Away, Naruto, and Sherlock. So in the past I've received random PMs about becoming friends with people on here. I am not interested in becoming anyone's friend here. If you like my writing (or not) and want to PM about it, ask a few questions, fine but don't PM me asking my gender, my age, my race, my locations and blah blah blah etc. I'M NOT INTERESTED PERIOD! If it doesn't pertain to my writing or anything having to do with this site, I'm not answering it. I don't give a damn about your business so don't ask me about mine. Another thing, if you're PMing me, title your letters else I'm ignoring it. That's just how I am. About my Fan fics I've deleted two of my fan fics; Butterfly Reincarnated for Spirited Away and Phone Call for Naruto. Also, new ideas have been springing to my head for new fan fictions so I might just write those too but not before I finish at least one of my current stories. Right now I have two active fan fics; Naruto for Hire and Vanity. I will try to update them at least once a week. Some of my fan fics have had outlines but I suck at making them and sticking to them so in the end they all end off being free writing things. Update Chapter 5 for Naruto for Hire is out. Chapter 1 for Vanity is out. Chapter 2 for Vanity is completed and posted. I really thought I started chapter six for Naruto for Hire before I got writer's block but apparently I didn't. I'll try to have it out by the weekend. Other Works I write poetry. If you're interested, the link's below. http:///member-corringale-51450 IF YOU WANT ME TO BETA YOUR STORIES, THE FOLLOWING SECTION OF MY PROFILE MUST BE READ! Things I dislike about fan fictions Since I've been back, I've been reading a lot more fan fictions and I've noticed things I don't like that I want to touch on. With this in mind, even some of my fan fics have some named elements I dislike. Here are some of the things I dislike in fan fics. Note: These are not pet peeves. These are things that serious should definitely not be doing in their writing. 1. POV's... In the beginning I used to use them because I had troubles expressing the thoughts and behaviour of individual characters but a friend help me out so I'm still working on it and I'm getting better at it. If you use POV because you have that problem or something similar, fine but try not to over do it. Now I feel like it's just a lazy way of writing and I can't stand it and I feel like it's being abused. 2. Author's Notes in the middle of the blasted story I've read a few stories where the author just inserted his/her thoughts or explain the plot or dialogue in the middle of the story. That is just annoying and distracting. What pisses me off about it most is the fact that the author in question is usually explaining something that's obvious. People! People! If you feel the need to explain yourself and your story then: a. don't include something that you'll have to explain, b. explain it at the end of the chapter or c. work it into the story. What ever happened to putting those numbers in brackets and making footnotes later on? 3.Original Characters, Self inserts and OOC By original characters I mean their own personal muses or role playing characters and such. Since creators don't take the time out to name every since character in the their story (example the people village people), I don't mind if you want to pick out a villager and give them a name and story and make them a character but I get peeved when I see personal pronouns not pertaining to character of the original work or when I see new characters in the staring role for no reason. To clarify if I haven't been making any sense let me give you a sample. I clutched tightly to my leather journal, my head hung low as I inched my way down the hall. Many of the passers-by in black robes and pointed black hats shot quick angry glances at me before turning to their companions and began whispering. "That's her...she's the girl who..." I felt my heart leap, as bile slowly crawled up my oesophagus. Merlin knew I didn't want to go where I was going but I had to, Professor Snape had threatened to expel me if I didn't. I began whimpering as I ran the previous events in my head. I don't know...one minute Justin was speaking to me and the next minute he was on the ground. I began wishing Lord Voldemort had killed me when I was a baby. Why did my mother protect me? Stupid bitch, I thought. I hated her for prolonging my existence. I was so busy, engulfed in my thoughts that I had barely realized I was on the floor. "Leah," Hermione laughed, "you should watch where you're going." Then her laughing cease and her face froze into a subtle scold with a dash of pity in it. "I heard what happen, are you okay?" I sat on the floor of longer than a minute, contemplating whether or not to tell Hermione the truth. She and Ron had been my friends since our first train ride to Hogwarts. If there was anyone I could trust to help me right now, it was she and Ron but in this event I felt like I had to be alone. "Yeah, I'm okay." I gave a fake smile and stood up. Where the hell is Harry? For Pete's sake it's called Harry Potter! He's the main character not you! I can't stand writing like that. Fine if you want to go to Hogwarts but stop wrecking stories by inserting yourself into them. We don't care about you long life dream to master the Patronus Charm or whatever just write the damn story that pertains to relevant existing characters. (This rant goes for all other stories and characters, Harry Potter was just an example.) Assuming I actually get over the main character not being the main character (unlikely). The next challenge tends to be the new main character isn't following the personality of the old main character. Using the example above, Harry(Leah) hates his mother but the actual Harry Potter doesn't, Harry(Leah) is in Slytherin but the actual Harry Potter is in Gryffindor. If you are gonna replace the character with your own and give them the old character's life you might as well give them all of the character's life and not some. The only except for OOC for me is if I'm reading an AU fan fiction providing that the OOC is warranted. 4. Mary Sue or Gary Stu I think is this self explanatory. If not go look it up! 5. People who can't take criticism well. If you can't take criticism well then why the hell did you post a fan fic? I thought the object of this site is to allow writers to express some of their fantasies of already published worked that the original author couldn't, as well as help writers improve their writing. If you don't want me commenting on your plot holes or horrid grammar, then: a. don't publish the story, b. get a damn beta that is capable to edit your story correctly, c. review your story to ensure all is well. Just because you're posting for fun doesn't mean we (the internet community) should go easy on you. We're telling you where you went wrong so you can get better. If you're writing a story just for fun then don't publish it! Write the damn story! Enjoy it! And then move on! 6.Recapping I can't stand when writers use half of the words in their new chapters with excerpts from the previous chapters. Obviously, for a story to make sense to us, we had to read the chapters in chronological order that is, if we wanted to understand what's going on in chapter 10 we would have to had obviously read chapter's 1-9. It pisses me off more when the author just uses copy and paste for the recap. I mean if you're going to say the same thing again you might as well say it a different way to keep your audience entertained. Stop wasting words with meaningless dribble. 7. Multiple POV Chapters That is telling the story in one POV and then retelling the exact same thing in another POV. It's annoying and the story does not progress that way. It's bad enough that you're already using POVs so please just stick to one if you must. 8. Language Mixing I can't stand it. It's okay if you're picking out a common phrase from the original work and using it but it's another thing when you're trying to make your story more 'authentic' so you use more of the language the original work was created it. What pisses me off about language switching is when people have their characters speak in one language and then have the writers say the same thing in another language for the benefit fit of the reader. You wouldn't have to do so if you just stick to a language and write the blasted fan fic. And then I get even more pissed off when the author doesn't translate it. I don't want to go out of my way while reading a fan fic to go find a translator. Language switching is a major turn off for me and most times it even makes me not want to read a fan fic anymore. 9. Song lyrics in non-song fan fics First and foremost, it's illegal to write stories with song lyrics here on . I don't read song fan fics, they don't interest me. I normally stick to just story ones. It absolutely irks me when I'm reading a story and out of no where there are song lyrics in it. I don't mind one or two lines in the story but I don't want to see the entire song in the story. To me it just takes up space unnecessarily. I understand if you drew the inspiration for your story from a song but I think a note at the end or beginning of the story would suffice. 10. Adding real world concepts into fictional worlds This one is kind of iffy to me since sometimes I feel for it and sometimes I feel against it. I guess my feelings towards it depends on how the story is written and the plot. To explain this I would probably have to give an example. I'll use Naruto. Masashi Kishimoto went specifically out of his way to create his own fictional world comprised of Land of Fire, Land of Waves, Land of Sound, etc. so he would have flexibility and control of the geography and etc in his story. Did he mention there was a USA in his story? Or a Japan or Australia? No! Therefore I think that these places should not be mentioned. Again this one is kind of iffy but sometimes it really does grind my gears. And if one insist on doing this, in the case of Naruto, I think it should be based in Japan since a lot of concepts in Naruto was adapted from Japanese culture and Naruto was made in Japan. Oh, and in terms of religion, I just chose not to go there since it often cause too much drama. I have nothing against anyone's religion. I just personally chose to keep mine away from my fan fics and not mention any religion unless they were mentioned in the original works. Or the original work was actually based in the real world where the religion would actually exist even if not implied. (This does not apply to fiction where the cannon was actually based in the real world.) 12. Irregular fonts and styles I can't stand when people write an entire story in bold or italics. It's actually hard to read these things and it's a major turn off. It doesn't add appeal to the story in anyway and in some cases it just gives people a headache and eye aches. I can't stand when people abuse the centre align function either and write their fan fic with it on completely. I'm not reading any story where this applies. If you're writing a story and you use specific fonts for specific characters, then say that a certain chapter or section is all about that character and write in the normal font. 13. MPreg Stop it! Just stop it! 14. Incest Again... Just stop! 15. Rape* 16. Bestiality* 17. Text talk/ IM talk/ Smileys/ 1332 (leet)/ etc. Learn the difference between speaking to your friends online or on the phone, texting them and writing stories. If you're going to write a story take your time and write actual words correctly so everyone can understand. I don't want to read a story where '2' means 'to', 'two' and 'too' and I don't want to see things like 'ure', 'ur' and 'u' unless they situation warrants for them which does not happen often in Standard English writing. 18. Writing without researching If you are going to focus your story around things like hospital or law then it would do you good to research a bit so you have some sort of logical platform for your story, especially if it's medicine. I don't expect anyone to know all the names of the medication doctors used in chemotherapy or things like that but you could at least research to learn that the likelihood of surviving a drop over five stories is slim to none or if a person's in a coma for a long time, when they wake up they would have atrophy. Even in fiction, one making of a good author is going the distance to research a topic they're writing about and seek outside help of some kind so they can have a understanding of their topics and write a more cohesive story. It's just poor and sloppy to write on assumption. 19. Reader voting I can't stand stories where the author asks reader to vote on what should happen in the story. Why are you writing a story if you have no idea what should happen or what it's about? I really don't see any joy in a story where I know the possibilities of what could happen. They get boring fast. It's just a lazy and unoriginal thing to do. It takes the fun out of imagination for readers and I probably the author as well. It's your story, write it! If I wanted to read a story where I get to chose how it goes and how it ends I would buy one of those 'create your own story' storybooks or I would write the story myself. I'm all for having readers be apart of the story but I don't think any author should ask a reader what should happen. They are already part of the story by reading and reviewing. If a reader feels the need to get involved further then mail the author and have a discussion there. Don't bring your audience into the story! 20. Demanding reviews and giving threats Write the story or do not write the story. Simple. Fine if you ask your readers to review politely but don't make them feel obliged to do so. I can't stand authors writing stories and then saying things like 'If I don't get reviews then I'm not going to continue writing this story' or demanding a certain number of reviews to continue. I understand that comments and subscription alerts and favourite alerts and stuff like that gives encouragement but it's just immature to demand reviews. 21. Improper labeling and warnings There are things that readers need to be warned about in the summary or in the beginning of the story because everyone has different preferences and dislike reading certain things. I personally get pissed when I'm reading a fan fic and suddenly there's incest or MPreg and other nonsense that I dislike. If it's not implied by the pairing, summary, genre or title you need to stick it in the beginning before you start writing your story. For example, some people don't like reading yaoi and many people don't label their stories as yaoi and chances are if it's male/male pairing in Romance it's yaoi and it can be avoided but if none of these conditions occur and the author didn't warn the readers it's irresponsibility on the author's part. 22. Long author's note, disclaimers, warnings, summaries, etc before a story (and after them) It's okay to have them but author's need to be mindful of the fact that those things get counted as words. I personally like to read stories that have 10k or more words and I get pissed when like half of the story I'm reading is mindless dribble that has nothing to do with the actual story. I end off having to scroll down to like a third of the chapter to read the actual story. To me if you're going to have a long rant (or whatever you call it) then your story should be like five times longer than your rant. It'll still piss me off but I would just be pissed off less. I would suggest creating a chapter to rant but chapters that aren't chapters piss me off... Which brings me to item twenty-three... 23. Chapters that aren't chapters I thought I had already listed this but apparently I didn't. I don't mind if an author wants to announce that the next chapter is coming soon or if they're putting their story on hiatus or something by using a chapter but I do mind if the author doesn't remove the pseudo-chapter when he/she decides to continue the story. As mentioned before, I like long stories and when I'm picking stories I do look at the chapter count sometimes. I hate when I see stories with tons of chapters and like a third of the chapters are fake chapters that doesn't pertain to the story. I really don't care if I can't see the next chapter of your story until July because your dog died or whatever else is the reason. The only except to this for me is when a story's complete and the author adds a chapter containing credits and special mentions or if the author adds a final chapter to announce a sequel. * See Miscellaneous Comments and Rants Let's talk about grammar and stuff! While my grammar and spelling may not be at one hundred percent I think I am still at the position where I can criticise others because the point isn't whether or not faults exist but rather what kind of faults, how many their are and whether or not their careless. Also, as long as you have the knowledge, it's easier to see where authors falter when you're an observer and not the writer. * Stop using the word 'you' For the most part, in writing, it's almost always incorrect to use the word 'you'. Basically, the only exceptions for it are dialogues, quotes and report writing, otherwise it's either third person writing (he, she, them, they, etc) or first person writing (I, we, our, us, etc). In the case of narrative writing (which fan fiction uses), either third or second person is used and it is ALWAYS* incorrect to use 'you'. There is a special way to get around this by using the perspective of a narrator which may or may not be a character in a story. Many authors fail at successfully using this method because it's complicated to write and understand. Also, many readers don't like feeling as if they're being addressed when reading stories, especially fiction. Example: Incorrect After the blast, you could see all the trees were burnt to a crisp as if the forest was never there. Correct After the blast, it could be seen that all the trees had been burnt to a crisp as if the forest was never there. Incorrect you could see, you could hear, you could feel, etc. Correct it could be seen, it could be heard, it could be felt, etc. *Parallelism This is at least basic high school grammar. Parallelism is the matching of verbs, nouns, phrases, clauses, etc. This means that if you're writing in past tense then everything needs to be in past tense and so on. Example: Incorrect The rain had stopped and the sun was beginning to come out. The birds start to whistle, life is starting again. Correct The rain had stopped and the sun was beginning to come out. The birds started to whistle, life was starting again. * Only verbs can be conjugated like verbs (because they are verbs! Duh!) I'm bringing up this point because I saw something horrid and at first I thought it was only that fan fic but then I started noticing it in several other fan fiction. It was an absolute affront the beautiful language know as English. I saw the 'word' 'pasted' (which was not being used as the past tense of the word 'paste' therefore it is technically not a word). I do not know how to explain how wrong this is, just know that it is WRONG. The word past is an adjective and the word 'pass' (which was the correct word that should have been used) is a verb. *Subject verb agreement (SVA or S-V-A) Again basic English but this rule gets violated so much. SVA states that a singular noun takes a singular verb and a plural noun takes a plural verb. Example Incorrect The cat play with the ball of yarn. We needs cheese to make this pizza. Correct The cat plays with the ball of yarn. We need cheese to make this pizza. *Ellipses are not a good substitution for commas While both the ellipsis (...) and the comma (,) have the ability to represent pauses, they are completely different in punctuation function. Apart from symbolizing a pause, the ellipsis can always symbolize the omission of words or an idea being trailed off. When several words are omitted and multiple ellipses are needed, they can be represented by a dash (—). Also, the ellipsis, unlike most other punctuations, followed by another punctuation. If a sentence is ending in a trail off, an ellipsis is used followed by the punctuation that would have ended the sentence. If an ellipsis is used as a trail off in the middle of a sentence then followed by a pause, an ellipsis and a comma may be used together (...,). On the other hand, the comma has a host of other functions such as; separating items in a list, separating clauses and, clarifying ambiguity. Reviewing If you're going to review any of my stories I would appreciate some feedback. I'm always open to criticism. Tell me where my grammar and spelling errors are. Tell me where my plot falls short or how out of character my characters are. Point out the things you don't understand and give suggestions of how I can improve on my writing. Tell me what you like or what you don't like but please do not give me one word reviews. I can't work with one word. I can't draw conclusions from one word. Also please don't give me purely good comments. If you like it, I'm happy but if you don't I'd appreciate being told that too. I read reviews of other stories. I can't stand seeing a horribly written story with purely good comments when the story is clearly atrocious. Like it or not I just want some honest opinions and I won't delete any comments and I won't be bitter. However, I do not and will not accept anonymous reviews. I don't give them either so to be fair, you'll have to have an account to review my stories or PM me with any questions. Also, I have my filters on but if a reviewer manages to pass them and I find you just spamming my review section I will delete the comment. I don't really like rude reviews either, instead of telling me things like 'you can't write and you should stop' tell me why you thought so. Again, point out my faults. I won't get mad and I won't lash out. In terms of me reviewing, I like being the person that points out faults. It's not possible to grow and improve as a writer if no one tells you where you can improve and what parts of the story needs to be fixed. I can't stand seeing horrible stories getting good reviews and no one tells the author where they go wrong therefore I've made it my job to be the person who will knit-pick stories. I try to give a mix review; positive and negative feedback but sometimes I give only one side. My giving a pure positive review doesn't mean that a story is perfect, sometimes it means that the faults I found are negligible or I'm holding out to see if they'll be fixed. The same somewhat goes for negative feedback. Me giving a bad review doesn't mean that the story's completely bad but most likely that faults are obvious and should be fixed because they're severely distracting and makes a story hard to read and follow. I have no problem being blunt. If your story is horrible and shouldn't have been posted, I would flat out tell you that. I would attack the story. However, I would never attack an author. That is just stupid and childish. In the past I have given positive reviews for stories that if I read now I would have either not review or have given a bad review. Like my writing, my ideas and opinions as well as manner of reviewing changes as I go along. I may praise something today because it's probably brand new to me and I liked it at first glance but tomorrow when I see the same thing, I may condemn it because I've either stopped liking it or realize how terrible a particular thing is. Favouriting and Subscribing The stories and authors on my favourite lists have been there for years. Since I've been active I haven't added anything new to those lists and I don't feel like it. I'm starting to feel that being added to a 'Favourite' list should be a well-deserved honour. I think what is on a user's favourite list says a lot of what a reader is into and it's somewhat of a recommendation. If someone reads my story and then visits my profile to check out what I like, I want a proper representation of what I like and what I would recommend to other readers. No offense to anyone who does it but a user who has a long list of favourited stories, especially when they haven't written any of their own doesn't really say anything but that the user in question would read anything. I get excited when someone reviews my stories or favourites or subscribes to me as an author or one of my stories but I check out the profiles of all these people and I don't feel honoured if I'm on a lists where just anyone can be on. As for subscribing, I subscribe to stories that pique my interest and authors who have made several stories that did the same. I unsubscribe when I get disappointed. Me subscribing to an author or story is kinda like being in the preliminaries for getting onto my favourite list. IF YOU WANT ME TO BETA YOUR STORY, THE FOLLOWING SECTION OF MY PROFILE MUST BE READ! Things I hate in specific categories of fan fictions Naruto 1. Harem 2. Weak Hinata 3. Extremely powerful Naruto 4. Naruto being relate to Zabuza 5. Sharingan or Byakugan Naruto 6. Character bashing 7. Kyuubi calling Naruto kit 8. Kyuubi being all nice and motherly 9. Female Kyuubi unless it's a story where Kyuubi is Naruto's sibling 10. Naruto joining Akatsuki 11. Naruto/ Bleach Crossovers 12. Vampire/Werewolf Naruto Harry Potter 1. Draco/Hermione romantic relationships 2. Protagonist/ Antagonist romantic relationships 3. Random nonsensical crossovers such as Naruto/Harry Potter or Bleach/ Harry Potter I've said so many things I dislike I think I'll say somethings I like now. In terms of Naruto My favourite pairings are NaruHina and SakuLee. That's how I want Naruto manga to end. Funny thing is, I don't read fan fics with these pairings. Out of curiosity I wandered onto NaruSasu and I am liking it so there's a possibility that the pair may become my ultimate favourite. I still want Naruto and Hinata to end up together but to me Hinata isn't developed enough in the story to see that becoming a possibility. She told Naruto she loved him and almost died for him and what happened? Nothing! Nothing happened. Same thing with Lee and Sakura. I personally don't like Sakura but if she gets with anyone she should get with Lee. I really like Hurt/Comfort stories and Angst stories. I've been reading a lot of them, I guess I'm a kinda sadist. I don't have anything against Romance but to me once there's a pairing there's always gonna be some romance so I don't really look for it. I've read a couple of stories where Kyuubi was Naruto's sibling and not the demon fox. It's unusual but I like that concept too. In terms of Labyrinth I love Harry Potter/Labyrinth cross overs. I love when Sarah and Jareth get together, of course not before some hurt and comfort or some kinda fight. I love with writers include all kinds of Celtic Lore into the story. I love when Sarah gains magic and becomes the Fae Queen or Goblin Queen. In terms of Spirited Away I love when Chihiro becomes a spirit. I love when Chihiro goes back to the Spirit World or Haku comes back and saves her. My reading patterns Normally I read stories 10k and up. I don't usually read incomplete unless they've been updated recently and I'm always game for hurt/comfort. Miscellaneous Comments and Rants *Stop breaking up cannon teams from Naruto! This isn't really a pet peeve but it bothers me still. To me the cannon teams in Naruto have the perfect dynamic and it doesn't need to be changed, especially the Ino-Shika-Cho team (team 10). I'm pretty sure that Naruto could remain friends with Hinata and Ino even if they weren't on the same team. I think this is why I hate harem so much, apart from the fact that I highly doubt Naruto would engage in it if he could. It's like as soon as Naruto becomes friends with a girl or likes a girl, they have to automatically be on the same team and everyone gets along. Maybe that's the second reason I hate harem so much. There's never any conflict of the sort. None of the girls are ever like 'It's me or them but not us'. Instead, all the girls are like 'Well I like Naruto and they like Naruto, he's so hot and sexy we should all share' (insert rolling eyes here). Yeah, I think this is going to be my harem rant as well. At first I didn't realize how much Naruto harem there were but now it's just ridiculous. The characters are so out of character without warrant and then there's not conflict pertaining to the relationship. I totally understand that Naruto deserves better but depriving other possible couples by matching him up with so many women is just wrong. I'm starting to feel that if a fan fic needs to have harem when the cannon doesn't then it's just not worth anything. Anyways, back to what I was talking about before. Some writers make changing the teams work but for the most part it's just epic fail. Team 10 has a multi-generational bond, Team 8 is a tracking team and Team 7 is a powerhouse; basically, well enough should be left alone. *Stop trying to be so creative! This may sound like an oxymoron since I do sometimes complain about cliches but seriously...stop. Authors are trying too hard and in the end they end off writing things that no one understands. Sometimes simple is best. Use hot instead of molten, use stiff or frozen instead of petrified. While it's good to think outside the box, sometimes it's good to leave the box and its contents alone. Stop trying so hard, stop trying to be so dramatic. * We don't care about your clothes (or music) Let's assume you put song lyrics in a story even though you weren't suppose to, well you just aren't suppose to do that but just in case you did, three words: we don't care. We don't care if you like Linkin Park or Three Days Grace or whatever else and we don't find your choice of music poetic to situations or whatever else may be running through your head when you put lyrics in your story. As for your clothes, I don't care if they came from Hot Topics or if they're just a hot mess. I assume that characters change their clothes each day in the story so stop filling stories with irrelevant crap. After you've explain a personality change or event change that lead to a wardrobe change and have explained that Monday is khaki day and Friday is camouflage day (for example) you don't need to go back and explain what a character is wearing again. We got the message the first time. *Legends Some legends are totally relevant. They gave you ranks of characters and their status or highlight differences in fictional worlds within a story. But some legends, such as dialogue legends are irrelevant and just need not be in a story. They wouldn't have been needed if the author simply tagged a character correctly when he/she was speaking or thinking. I would like to think that readers are smart enough to figure out the pattern to know just when a character is speaking or thinking and which exact character is doing that action. *Reviewers I love reading reviews. They're the best part of most stories, especially when a story is horrible. No... I'm not reading reviews of a horrible story to see how many people tell the author that their writing is horrible (although it is funny) because that hardly ever happens (at least from what I've seen). I read reviews because some reviewers are just ridiculous. The amount of petty name calling and false praising I've seen is just amazing to me. As I've said before, reviews and subscriptions are great, they give encouragement sometimes but other times they're dangerous. They make people who can't write jack think that they're doing something good and give writers who don't deserve an ego this fat head that refuses to see wrong. I can ignore a few grammar and spelling errors here and there but when stories are littered with these things along with other horrendous crimes against the English Language, I feel the need to say something. Yes, maybe once or twice I have been blasted for finding faults in an author's work but that doesn't stop me from saying what needs to be said and I'm pretty sure other authors like me feel the same way. Sometimes somethings just need to be said and I can take the hit for being the person to say it. I can take a author blasting me or my stories or my writings in retaliation. As childish and hilarious, yet sometimes offensive as it can be, I can take it and I can kind of understand a writer lashing out at a reviewer for what that reviewer said (even though we are all entitled to our opinion). What I don't get is reviewers lashing out at other reviewers. I just don't understand it. Really, people who do that don't help the writer at all. It just makes it look like trolling. I don't care if the author wrote a story for his/her friend, if it's posted here, I'm a legitimate member of this site so I have the right to express my opinion. If you don't want me or any member of this site to express our opinion, don't post your story here. If an author can't defend his/her work then it doesn't deserve to be seen by the world. That is my opinion for any kind of art. If you need a wall of reviewers to stand up for you, if you don't feel good about your work unless someone tells you you're good, if you can't explain your work when someone calls you out, then you're weak and your story doesn't need to be seen by the world. I think it's inappropriate for a reviewer to attack another reviewer and I think it's irresponsible for an author to have something like that going on on his/her story because by not saying anything, he/she is condoning asinine behaviour. Yeah, you can't really stop two people from hating each other and fighting but the author should step in and say 'cut it out' or say something like 'I appreciate reviews of all kinds so don't fight' or something like that. It's irresponsible and cowardly to watch people fight over your actions. How could you write and not have a voice? * Sexual content in stories I acknowledge that things like rape, bestiality and incest happens in real life and may apply to fictional worlds as well. I really don't know what goes through an author's head when he/she decides to write about such matter but these topics disturbs me, not because they are written but because of how they are presented. I've read so many stories pertaining to this matter (mostly rape and incest) and the lack of sensitivity about the subject matter by the author just appalls me. And it just goes further when I see reviewers liking things like that. These subjects are very emotionally charged and they tend to be presented as if it's nothing or just another part of growing up and such. The characters written tends to be flat and unthinking about their actions or the situation. There tends to be no questions of morals. There are people who have been deeply hurt and scarred from things like rape and incest, and bestiality is just wrong in so many ways. Down playing the severity of things like that is just offensive. Offensive to people who have experienced it, offensive to people who are naive on the subject matter and are having their thoughts and emotions swayed by such garbage and offensive to who know better; who have actually given some thought to the subject matter. As for MPreg, come on, man! Come on! It's just so wrong in so many ways and gross. If you want your characters to be gay, then fine. If you want them to have children, can't a surrogate or something work? Why do people write things like that? We all know men cannot get pregnant. There needs to be some kind of bounds, some kind of limit or structure in a story. You can't just go twisting everything to your liking. That's how Mary Sues are created. (There should be a name for a Mary Sue worlds because people create them as well.) You can't just have a guy have sex with another guy and then wake up pregnant the next day. It doesn't make sense! And then you can't just say things like 'they're hermaphrodites' or whatever people make as an excuse. There are physical things to consider like a guy's lack of a womb therefore unable to carry a fetus, much less a guy's lack of eggs to be fertilised in the first place. Furthermore, being a hermaphrodite doesn't guarantee that you can reproductively behave like both sex. Reproduction, when it comes to hermaphrodites is complicated and you can't just have a character be like 'oh I'm both so I can be with either gender and do the opposite of whatever my partner is'. People aren't fricking slugs or snails so it doesn't work that way! * Broken Mary Sue I've decided to come up with a new term, I don't know if it'll catch on but I don't care. I'll use it on here and you can just read this section to understand what I'm saying. What is a broken Mary Sue you say? Easy, it's one of two things. A broken Mary Sue is either a: the opposite of a Mary Sue in that instead of being perfect to the point in which the character is unbelievable, the character is several flawed to the point in which the character is unbelievable or b: A Mary Sue character the author tries to pass up as normal and believable by giving the character faults but fails due to the illogical and sometimes contradicting nature of the character. Weird? *gasp* Lee's flames of youth burns too brightly for him to be weird! He's fricking awesome! 24) Which character would be the best OOC? Who and how? Shikamaru or Shino. They should stop being so antisocial. Shikamaru should just make an effort and Shino should stop being so invisible. 25) Do you like Naruto fan fictions? Most entertain me. I enjoy them most when they are written well. There are too many crap authors who 'write' and they need to just stop or get a beta or something. 26) Do you write Naruto fan fictions? Yep and I have so many more ideas but I'm putting them on hold until I finish at least one of my fan fictions. I hope I don't forget my ideas in the mean time. 27) Do you like lemons? At first they were fascinating but now I really don't care for them. 28) Do your parents know about the Naruto characters? Yes. Me and my mom are fascinated with the idea that there are TVs in the Naruto-verse yet they walk practically everywhere and we've never seen a phone. Sasuke was never sexy. 40) Looking back at some of your answers, do you think Naruto has taken over your life? At the current moment, it has. I seriously need to find a job. Number your 12 favorite Naruto characters (in no order) and answer the questions! 1. Naruto 2. Sasuke 3. Shikamaru 4. Ino 5. Neji 6. Lee 7. Jiriaya 8. Gaara 9. Hinata 10. Kiba 11. Tenten 12. Gai 1) Have you ever read a Six/Eleven fanfic before? Lee/ Tenten... I don't think so. 2) Do you think Four is hot? How hot? In Shippuden, yeah and she totally beat Sakura. I would want Shikamaru to date her if he didn't get with Tamari. There isn't any other match for her...except for maybe Chouji. 3) What would happen if Twelve got Eight pregnant? Men can't get pregnant. 4) Do you recall any fics about Nine? Several of them. I love NaruHina but it's hard for me to read fics about her because to me she's not a weak character and she hasn't really been developed in to manga so if she's too strong it seems OOC for me but she has so much potential, she can't be weak. 5) Would Two and Six make a good couple? I think Lee might like it, especially since it would probably make Neji jealous or insane or both but Sasuke would probably put a Chidori through Lee's chest. Scenario: Lee: A pleasant and bright good morning to you my most youthful boyfriend! May the shinning flames of your youthfulness burn brightly today! Sasuke eyebrow twitches. Neji who is eavesdropping on the couple is stooping underneath the window of the dinning room of the Uchiha mansion. His eyebrow twitches from Lee's comments as well. Lee goes to the windows to draw the curtains open: On such a glorious and sunny day you shouldn't allow your youthfulness to be... Lee's words get cut off as Sasuke rams a Chidori through his back, short circuiting the SN nodes of Lee's heart, giving him heartattack. Sasuke grins like a maniac at the realization that Lee is now silenced forever. Neji smiles at realizing that Sasuke is now free and plots to go after him even thought Sasuke is now a criminal. He wonders how he could talk Sasuke into doing the same thing he did for Lee to Gai. 6) Five/Nine or Five/Ten? Hinata's Neji's cousin and Neji/Kiba is just wrong! 7) What would happen if Seven walked in on Two and Twelve having sex? Icha Icha: Forbidden Lust! Yaoi edition! (I think Lee, Neji and Kakashi would have to be in this story as well) 8) Make up a summary of a Three/Ten Fanfic. Title: Who let that dog out!: From the beginning he was always a boy and his partner was a dog. What happens when this boy wants to finally become a man. A troublesome request that Shikamara accepts. Kiba's wife hunt! (Idk, it would be weird and none yaoi) 9) Is there any such thing as a One/Eight fluff? Yes, yes there is. 10) Suggest a summary for a Seven/Twelve Hurt/Comfort fic. After walking in to see his long time rival and secret crush, Kakashi in bed with Iruka, Gai is heartbroken and decides to quit being a ninja. The pain of his heart is so bad it leads him to attempt suicide by opening all eight gates. Jiriaya find's Gai's broken and battered body, barely alive and nurse's him back to health. During that time both ninja's discover something they thought they'll never have in their life, love. With that, Jiriaya heals more than Gai's body and gives him the courage to become a ninja again. 11) What kind of plot would you use if you wanted Four to de-flower One? After getting rejected by Sakura several times Naruto gives up on her which gives Sakura a peaceful freedom to pursue Sasuke. Ino, over her fan girl phase and lonely herself goes out to seek Naruto to comfort him. Ino find's Naruto in a bar, drunk and depress and takes him home to take care of him until he's sober. Naruto, free from his inhibitions confesses to Ino that he always thought she was more beautiful than Sakura. Naruto continue's to charm Ino but Ino refuses because she knows Naruto's only behaving the way he is because he's drunk. Eventually it's too much to bare and Ino sleeps with Naruto. Naruto wakes up the next morning, sober, to find Ino next to him and smiles. He goes and makes Ino breakfast. When Ino wakes she finds Naruto in her kitchen in nothing but his boxers. Ino is turned on again but can't do anything because now Naruto's sober. Naruto tells Ino he remembers everything from the night before and confesses that he enjoyed it and that Ino was his first. He also says that he'll like her to be his second, third and only. Ino and Naruto start dating and eventutally gets married. It is revealed that the story was a flashback. Story goes to current time where she and Naruto are old with grandkids and Ino kisses Naruto and tells him he was her first as well. The end. (this would be a one shot.) 12) Does anyone on your friends list read Three het? There is Shikamaru het?! Nah, most of my friends can't stand Naruto thanks to the English dubs. 13) Does anyone on your friends list write or draw Eleven? They can't stand Naruto. 14) Would anyone on your friends list write Two/Four/Five? Again. They can't stand Naruto. 15) What might Ten scream at a moment of great passion? I think he'd bark. 16) If you wrote a song-fic about Eight, what song would you choose? Song-fics are illegal on . 17) If you wrote a One/Six/Twelve fic, what would the warning be? Warning! Crackfic! Possible side-effects my result in the need to own a shinny green jumpsuit and get a bowl haircut with extremely fuzzy brows! 18) What might be a good pick-up line for Ten to use on Two? Um... Scenario: Kiba pimp walks up to Sasuke: It's hot, dawg. Sasuke with suspicion: No...it's not. Kiba:You. Me. Wanna make hot dogs? Sasuke: What?! 19) How might Eleven describe a relationship between Two and Eight? Don't ask. Don't tell. 20) What would Three say if they walked in on Five and Ten having sex? How troublesome. |
