![]() Author has written 2 stories for Ranma, Kamen Rider, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica/魔法少女まどか★マギカ. Well, this certainly is a sight for sore eyes. A profile I've not updated, and fics I've left unfinished. I'm changing one of those today, and maybe the others in the future? Time will tell. My fanfiction.net usertitle used to be 'Nichael Kaeken', and it was representative of how I viewed myself during the time I used it. However, time changes many things, and I've moved on- you can see it at the top surely, but Kerrus is far more who I am these days then Nichael ever was. Besides, I think it's easier to just consolidate things under one name. Who am I? I'm Kerrus- I'm a guy from Ontario, Canada who reads, and occasionally writes. However, most of my work isn't what one would classify as fanfiction, and so doesn't find its way onto this site. But that doesn't stop me. For those who've read my fics and liked them, and no doubt wished I'd continue them, I still might. It's been a long time since I've written in that view, so things will undoubtedly have changed, but I like to think that I've matured since then. Real life is always stranger then fiction- and fate is a strange, strange thing. These days I work at a donation drive, a used items shoppe. I sort donations, and every now and then find something terrifically weird. Between old family video tapes, never opened steak knives, or even unpublished manuscripts, people invariably donate things that we can't possibly sell. And in sorting through them, in deciding not to just throw them out, but keep them or give them to someone who can appreciate them, I feel like I'm partaking in a life I never lived. There's so much that must have been the focus of so many emotions- love, hope, sorrow, anger, a wide colourful spectrum. But, for whatever reason, one day someone said "these aren't me anymore" and lay them on our doorstep. And as sad as it is, I can't help but feel glad to be an arbiter of finding these treasured relics a new and rewarding home. Of course, sometimes some of the stuff is too crazy or old or in bad condition to keep, and that means we need to dispose of it properly. We don't know who takes away our garbage- just that it happens. The City doesn't know, nor its myriad divisions. We've staked out on pickup day to watch, but no one's ever seen who comes. It just happens. Who am I? I'm a 24 year old student who reads, writes, and plays RPGs. I'm a fan of innumerable things, but specifically science fiction, fantasy, and, if one could call it a genre, anime. A big fan of anime, ever since I got into it during the nineties. I was still a child then, though in many ways I'm a child now. A symptom of my childhood, but I don't particularly have any strong preconceptions- I judge everything on its own merit. So while some people obsess over shipping, crackfics, or innumerable other stylistic choices, I've found I don't have a preference. Once upon a time, I was a tremendous fan of the yaoi slashfic, though over time that's changed. I still enjoy it, when well written and produced, but especially as the internet has filled with aspiring authors and fans, those stories have become less and less. But they're still there, if you take the chance to look for them. These days, though, I usually filter my fanfiction intact, through sites like DLP, TFF, and the venerable SB. These are places I know, and in turn am known. And usually can cater to my standards of quality. But don't think me some elitist snob- just take a look at the old fics I've written. I'm not going to take them down straight up, because they're a memento of who I once was, and that includes all the poorly written fanboy ficlets I've done, only one of which is here. But I look forward to putting more things up, when they happen. They might be small forays into a once favourite pastime, or new forays into new plans and desires, I don't know. But when they happen, they'll be here. Don't you worry. |
