Reviews for Darkness Returns
dread harbinger chapter 13 . 3/15
I am eager and hopeful that a new chapter may come also this fanfiction is amazing and something I can read over and over without getting tired of it
anthony883 chapter 1 . 9/7/2019
I am sad that this fanfiction hasn't continued because it is a solid story and a Nabiki/Raven character is very interesting but I guess since you based this on the old Teen Titans cartoon you had to stop do to the source material discontinued you didn't have much more to build on.
FireInLife chapter 13 . 9/6/2019
Alas, nearly 4 years since an update. I hope that you are doing okay.

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your writing. You tell really good stories, and I have been completely sucked into them.

And to the previous reviewer who was upset that Ranma didn't view his curse as a curse, and who apparently missed out on the cues that Ranma liked being a girl as much as he liked being a boy (and not because anybody pushed him into it)...well, you said that this story was offensive to trans people. Sorry, but I'm trans and I don't see a problem with it. And seeing how you absolutely hate the Amazons but defend Mousse...I dunno, I think you may have a few insecurities to work through.

Anyways, Penguin, I would love to see an update in the future, but no worries. Your stories are fantastic and I have a feeling I'll love to read this over and over again. Even incomplete, this story is exceptional.
Ryavrel chapter 13 . 9/4/2019
I wasn't expecting much from a crossover such as this but thought I'd entertain the idea and read it. I also wasn't expecting to love it this much. It was surprisingly well thought out, well-written, and well executed (something I've found lacking in other similar crossovers). There were many aspects I was not expecting but loved all the more for how well it compmiments the story. My only nit-pick is the last chapter's questionable conclusion to conflicting "honor pacts" regarding Ranmas. I say honor loosely as Genma is anything but. I am willing to believe that had the story continued, a separate solution would have been revealed and this would not need to come to pass.
I am happy that Nabiki/Raven and Ranma seem to have a genuine romantic interest in each other and would've been happy to see some more. Though this isn't likely to continue anytime soon (at least considering it's been 4 years since last update) I am quite happy with what you did finish. I legitimately loved this story. Good on ya mate ;)

Jonakhensu chapter 13 . 8/4/2019
It's been a bit longer than two years since chapter 13... Here's hoping you find your muse again. I would definitely enjoy more of this fic. Raven has always been one of my favorite Titans, and this portrayal amused me.

Thanks for the great fic, and here's hoping you get to continue it soon.
Vld chapter 13 . 7/8/2019
I read, and reread, and reread "Fist of the Moon" quite a number of times already, and i read "Am i a girl now" a couple times as well, and i loved these. But i never tried reading anything Titan-related before, aside from Narsil's "The Raven"... mainly because while i don't dislike the Titans (or anything DC in general), it never got my blood pumping like other stuffs i read.
I must say, after Narsil, you're the second one to manage it. Hence why i really hope you haven't given up on this story. I want to see Shampoo's Ranma-junior, and i hope Ranma proves Nabiki wrong at some point: Show her that YES, she CAN have children. And i want to read about Ryoga's Jinxy romance (and no, i don't think it is jinxed).
tarrangar chapter 13 . 6/10/2019
Ranma should absolutely not agree to give Shampoo a child, the Amazons are an evil that must not be strengthened, then there's the fact that he would be condemning a child of his, to be raised under the insanity that's Amazon law.

The Amazons lost any claim they might have had, by giving Ranma Amazon techniques anyway, by doing things like locking Ranma in girl form, using mind control on him, and otherwise doing things that's cause for a blood feud.

So Ranma can easily claim that those Amazon techniques, were merely just compensation for the attacks on him.

And considering the alternative is letting his child have to grow up an Amazon, I really can't approve of Ranma agreeing to this deal.
tarrangar chapter 10 . 6/10/2019
Water from either Drowned man or Drowned girl would be sure to work for Ryoga, as his main complaint about his cursed form is how helpless he is, so even if the curses mixed, I don't think he would have near as many problems, being a man/pig hybrid when splashed.

Cologne is once again a hypocrite, she encourage Shampoo to act exactly like Mousse does, except Shampoo is more ruthless than Mousse is.
tarrangar chapter 9 . 6/10/2019
The Amazon's laws are evil, in terms of laws, the Amazons qualify for being the cliché evil empire in a story, which is why personally I believe Amazon culture must be destroyed, because while individual Amazons might be nice, as a culture they are rotten to the core.

Also Mousse isn't that bad, while he talk a big game, and can be more than a little manipulative, he's not any more so than Shampoo herself is.

And in the Saffron arc, he showed that while he might be tempted, to use magic to get Shampoo to love him, he knows it would be wrong. By the fact that when Shampoo was in an imprinting egg, he used a mirror to free her instead of taking control of her. Shampoo would never have done that if she had Ranma in one, so while Mousse is a jerk, he's not as bad as Shampoo is.

Mind control is from everything we have seen considered acceptable by the Amazons, and yet Mousse couldn't get himself to use it on Shampoo, that makes him far better than Shampoo, who has had no compunctions using it on Ranma multiple times.

Mousse is in my opinion the least evil of the 3 main Amazons, not by much, but he's a little better than Shampoo, and a lot better than the evil that's Cologne.
tarrangar chapter 7 . 6/2/2019
Ranma don't have shape changing powers, he has a curse, would you say Ryoga has shape shifting power? If no then why say it about Ranma?

I love the rest of this story, but I really hate, how you are portraying being forced into part time suffering from being transgender, is an ability(and yes being transgender is something you suffer from, it's feeling you should be one gender, yet having the body of another, and that's what Ranma experience, every time the curse activates)

Also why do Ranma need to get in touch with a feminine side, just because he changes physical gender, don't mean he has to change mental gender as well, that's just making the curse worse, or do you think Ryoga should learn to be a pig?

If they think it's a power, why aren't they planning a trip to Jusenkyou, so the rest of them can get this great power too? I get why Beastboy and Cyborg isn't(it would be redundant for Beastboy, and Cyborgs metal parts, might not shift with his meat part) but if the others think it's a power, why aren't they planning to go get atleast Raven and Robin cursed(Even if she sees it as a blessing Starfire might want to avoid it, because the spring of Drowned boy, is the Spring of drowned human boy, so she would lose access to her powers when transformed)

Either it's a curse, or it's a blessing, in which case they should all want it, and with how easy it's to get, they should take a short trip to go get it.

If you don't want the curse yourself, then you have no right to tell others they shouldn't see it as a curse.

Acceptance is one thing, if it's not going away you might as well learn to live with it, but unless you would be happy with a curse, you shouldn't tell others they should be happy, and even if you would be happy with the curse, you should accept they don't like their curse.

For that matter, do you think they should be telling Cyborg, he should learn to be happy about his being a Cyborg, and that it's blessing that he has all these metal parts, or should they just be telling him that it sucks, but as it can't be changed, he has to learn to live with it?

I love the rest of your story, but some of the enjoyment is being killed, by how you are describing part-time transgenderism as a good thing.

They are pretty much killing his gender identity, and saying that he should be happy about that, hell they even say he will be half-girl, the Ranma in the manga at least remained all boy mentally, this one is being brainwashed into someone else.

Should Shampoo become half-cat, should Mousse become half-duck, or should Ryoga become half-pig, should they essentially kill and replace a part of themselves, just to get control of when they change.

It's really a bad plot point, and I find it insulting to the people who actually are transgendered, that you describe it as if mere positive thinking, can change which gender you identify as, if that was the case, there wouldn't be transgendered people, because no one want to identify as a different gender than your body, so if it was as simple as wanting to identify as the gender of your body, then transgender would only be a problem, for people who experienced some trauma, that caused them to reject their gender.
tarrangar chapter 6 . 6/2/2019
Jusenkyou could heal Cyborg, it just takes the right spring, there are creatures that can regenerate limbs, so it's just a matter of jumping into their spring, if they don't have a spring, you just drown one to make one.

Of course it has a heavy cost, Cyborg jumping into spring of drowned Lizard might let him heal, but it also mean he will turn into a lizard, whenever he's hit by cold water.

Also I still don't like this whole Ranma has to accept his curse thing, it's a curse not a blessing, humans weren't made to be 2-gendered, our brain isn't built for it, so one of the forms will always feel like it's not your body.

It was always presented in the manga as a curse, it's called a curse, Ranma hates it, 80% of the other Jusenkyou victims hate their curses, Jusenkyou don't bless people, it curses them.
tarrangar chapter 5 . 6/2/2019
It's a curse not a blessing, or are you saying that Ryoga should be thankful for turning into a pig, just because something less inconvenient drowned in that spring, don't make it's nature any different from the other springs.

It's the cursed springs of sorrow, it's not something that will improve your life, it's something that will worsen your life, unless you already had a wish, to turn into what drowned in the spring, and Ranma isn't transgender, so he don't want to be a girl.

Being a girl for a few hours isn't a big deal for Ranma, because he know he can change back, so it's just mildly uncomfortable, but it will never be something he will like, nor should it be, as it's not his gender identity, and so being a girl will always feel vaguely wrong, it's just not a feeling that hurt much, unless he go too long without the relief of his real form.

And both Shampoo and Genma certainly hate their curses, they just aren't proactive about curing them, but Genma participate in every brawl for a cure, and Shampoo certainly don't like turning into something Ranma hates and fear.

It could be worse, but it's definitely a curse.
tarrangar chapter 3 . 6/2/2019
I don't get why people keep insisting Ranma's curse isn't a curse, trangender is a known issue, and being born with a different gender in your head, than in your body definitely suck, why then can't people see that it's definitely a bad thing, to have being transgendered inflicted on you, sure it's part time, which mean it suck less, but it don't mean it don't suck.

Compared to other Jusenkyou curses it's relatively mild, but a mild curse is still a curse.

The no control suck as well, and if it was entirely voluntary to change form, then it would indeed be a blessing not a curse, as while Ranma still wouldn't like being a girl, he would only use it, when it's use was worth the uncomfortableness.

But if the curse was somewhat controllable, but had a minimum time spent as a girl, then it would still be a curse, even if it was occasionally useful.

Instant Jusenkyou water is nice, trying to be something else would be fun, but unless you are transgendered, or have some major birth defect, that don't get copied to your cursed form, even the human Jusenkyou springs suck to fall into(well unless you are like Taro, and revel in the power of your cursed form)

I think part of Ryoga's pretending to be P-Chan, wasn't out of fear but loneliness, he's a very lonely boy, he has few friends and he sees the rarely, his parents are just as lost as him, so he see them even less than his friends, so being treated with love even if only the love for a pet, was very much addicting to him.
