The Missing Year was full of adventure, peril, tension between warring kingdoms on the precipice of desperation and ruin. But it's not all blood and sweat met with death's sweet release. Sometimes it's tangling limbs, and panting breaths, and Robin trying to help Regina relax away from the worries of court.

Missing Year Fic: Regina groans, pushing herself off the ground. Tiny cuts on her palms sting, mud stains the cream night gown she wasn't very fond of anyway. Leaves and twigs embed in her hair. She's stuck, somewhere in the in between, without her Henry, without her everything. Grief and sorrow call all her attention, and she doesn't see the hooded man stalking her from the trees.

There's a saying "blood is thicker than water," but Regina, Robin and their children know that family is choice-love is a choice-and they'll fight like hell to protect it.

The night is quiet. A gentle breeze blows Regina's hair about her face as she stumbles along the sidewalk toward home. Robin chuckles when she missteps, keeping her upright with his arm held protectively around her shoulder, their laughter ringing through the air. They're drunk, sloshed, giddy with glee, and heading home for an evening of fun.
