Author has written 33 stories for Avatar: Last Airbender, How to Train Your Dragon, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Legend of Korra, Fullmetal Alchemist, Supernatural, Merlin, Justice League, Rise of the Guardians, and Young Justice. Hello. I'm Arsaem, but you probably already knew that. Call me whatever you want or don't call me anything... A lot of my one-shots are either crack-fic and not to be taken seriously, or very intense that focuses more on the characters thoughts, reactions, current mental state, ect. If you see any grammar/spelling mistakes in one of my stories, please let me know. Even after the fifth or sixth read through I can miss stuff, and it drives me crazy when I go back months later and realize I had a big whopping mistake in there the whole time. Some stuff about me: I really hate it when authors put 'stuff about me lists' on their profile. I also hate hypocrites. And people who think they're being clever. A little Avatar math... Okay, so I did a little math (I know, surprising), and I've discovered that there hasn't really been that many Avatars. If you've seen Korra, then you'll know about the first Avatar, and how the cycle has been going for 10,000 years. Now, that sounds like a lot, but not if you divide it up. If each Avatar lived around 80 years, then that's only 125 Avatars. And it's probably even less than that, considering there's evidence to assume that strong benders live a very long time, Avatar included (the only reason Aang died so 'young' -around 70, 80-ish- was because his time in the iceberg caught up to him, and caused him to age faster). Roku was 70 when he died, but he was still very active and kicking and ready to take on a volcano. Had things gone differently, I'm sure he would've lived much longer. And Kyoshi lived something like 250 years! So, my point is that Avatars generally live longer, meaning that my original number of 125 is probably something more like 100, give or take. So, since the beginning of the Avatar, there's only been about 100 Avatars to have walked the earth. Which doesn't make sense because Roku clearly states that he's lived a thousand lifetimes! And it can't of been more than 10,000 years since the first Avatar, because then Vaatu would've escaped that prison of his earlier. Now don't get me wrong, I love Avatar. But I'm seeing some continuity errors here. 100,000 years, however, would put us more in the right area, with an estimate of about 1100 Avatars (give or take). But, I looked up how long a Chinese year is, and discovered that every three years or so, they have something called a leap year, where they have an extra month, and there's around 385 days in this kind of year. So I was thinking that maybe that would add some extra years to make up for more Avatars. But then I also learned that their regular year is a bit shorter than normal, around 355 days, at the most. So I did the math again, and if I did it right, then the added time would've equaled out to less than a year. Like, .32 of a year (but, again, that's assuming I did the math right, heh). I did the math differently, and got a different answer, but even with the different answer, it would only add, like, 3 or 4 years. Point is, we're a far cry from the 1000 Avatars Roku claimed to has lived before him. I really put wayyyyy too much effort into this. |
