Author has written 13 stories for Metal Fight Beyblade/メタルファイト ベイブレード, and Beyblade. Hello. My name is a name. You can call me Addy or Ray or Lemon-Ade. I swear those are actually derivatives of my real name. I live in New York Some of my favorite fandoms are Beyblade, My Hero Academia, Star Trek, and Sherlock. I'm a dude but I am also a queer so do with that what you will. Maybe that explains some things lmao I think books are greeeaaat You aren't classy unless you write with a fountain pen and have to button your shirts Brown is the best color My House is Ravenclaw and my Patronus is a shark Penguins are really great animals My bit beast would probably be like a blobfish or something ugly and useless like that My feet are 24.5 cm long... they're tiny fucking flippers I write a lot of stories about Kai but my favorite beyblade character is actually Ray Do you ever start a fic without having any idea where it's going? That's like every single story I ever write. Sorry bout that. '\_(ツ)_/' This question is put to anyone who reads Beyblade and/or MFB fanfiction: Why is there so goddamn much fanfiction about this franchise? It's literally a kids show. Even being a fan of it I realize it's kind of shitty compared to others. But why is it so enticing? And how are there writers in their twenties and older still writing about it? (I'm one to talk. I'm not being critical, it just kind of amazes me. In a good way) Even more astounding, how are there people younger than twenty writing about OG Beyblade? I mean I discovered it when I was 13, which was To be honest, I don't really know the average age of writers or users on here, but you can get a sense by reading their fics. One of the weirdest things I noticed transitioning from MFB fiction to OG BB fiction was that... there's so much more in the latter community. Like Beyblade is ON THE MAP if you ever find it under 'browse.' You don't even need to scroll down (I guess that depends on your computer screen though). It's incredible to me because Beyblade is, like, a guilty pleasure of mine. Whenever I'm in the mood for fanfiction, BB is my go-to. I guess it's a combination of the childhood nostalgia and the characters. I mean, come on. There are definitely characters like Tyson & Co or Gingka & Co in other shows, but somehow BB manages to distinguish them from others. I think part of that has to do with the backstories of the characters - yes I have Kai in mind right now - and their temperaments. If I met someone like Kai Ray or Tyson in real life they'd probably annoy the shit out of me. Not Max, though. He's a boring character (imo) but probably the only one with a tolerable personality. And Gingka. I still kind of hate him. It's just... his voice. It's grating. And how as a viewer, I never feel like he or Tyson really deserve their accolades or their wins, as they seem to be based entirely on the fact that 'friendship is magic' or 'teamwork makes the dream work.' But then you have characters like Kyoya and Kai and probably other people I can't remember who train more intensely and come off as a lot more dedicated to the sport (god I'm getting so serious about this Ima have to cool it). So anyway, these grievances aside, why on earth is beyblade so popular? Does it have to do with the toys? I always thought it neat that you could interact with the series by pretending to be a blader and shoot your beyblades against the wall and do property damage like they do on the shows, but that cannot be the only factor. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's become low-key obsessed with the series by becoming too invested in the characters, but I don't know why it should be this series that does me in. Why do I keep coming back to it? Is it superior in some unknown way to the tens of thousands of other series out there? Are the characters better looking? Not if we include the first and possibly second seasons of OG Beyblade. I'm sorry but the art was a big turnoff for me when I first started watching it. It was only after persevering that I actually started liking the series for what it was. I'm curious to know if anyone feels the same way, or has anything to add to this. tl;dr - Beyblade and MFB are kinda second-rate kids animes. Why do you think so many people (judging by the volume of fanfiction) like it so much? Please let me know what you think. You can either PM me (are the kids calling it DM nowadays? whatever you get the point) or just lmk what you think in the review section of one of my stories. Oh yeah! Please read my stories! There are some that are kind of cringe but I probably wrote those when I was 14. And I'm too sentimental to take them down. I constantly bemoan the fact that no one reads my beyblade stories (not that there's a huge demand anyway) but there are so many uploaded STILL. God that's amazing. Never let the fandom die! |
