![]() Author has written 23 stories for Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy VII, Evangelion, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Naruto, X-overs, Harry Potter, and Avernum. (Formerly known as: Jebus Creiss.) Standard Schlock: Male, Australian. Got lured into writing fanfiction by my mother and sister (HP specialists), and promptly started posting more ffic than they ever did. That's not to say the flow is smooth - I've been known to drop out of sight for months if not years at a time for varied reasons, only to pop up with more stuff. My latest absence has been mostly due to the SpaceBattles forums, where I've been working to straighten out and make more accessible the mindbogglingly massive morass that is Saphroneth's long-running revamp of the Infinite Loops Fanfiction Project (as opposed to Innortal's more...lewd forerunner). Progress is ongoing and fairly decent, having indexed a bit over a third of the threads involved (the total of which, for an idea of the scale, clocks over 250K posts and rising). An FFN compilation for the Miscellaneous Loops thread has recently gone live. At present, I have one ongoing series (The Divergence Series - and yes, the overall title isn't exactly original - based in BtVS, where Dark Willow (as per S8-MC) repeatedly attempts to short-circuit the circumstances that caused her to travel back in time as a villain, repeatedly spawning/hitting ARs as a direct result), one...stalled ongoing series (The Seeker Files, which will incorporate snapshots of past events in Spira with the evolving nature of the post-X-2 world), along with a chaptered fic (The Griever, set 30 years post-FFVIII; it's likely to be deleted eventually for revamping). There's also another stalled fic (The Eighteenth, a time-loops story from before I even heard about the Infinite Loops), which was one of several literary victims of my previous laptop screwing up so badly it needed reformatting. I have in the meantime been assaulted with something like two dozen plot-bunnies for oneshots, mostly humorous, mostly for various Final Fantasy fandoms (though an increasing number have cropped up for other fandoms, and with exponentially broadening scope of fandoms since taking on indexing for the ILP). So, I'll be busy for a while. No doubt, another idea for a longer story will surface eventually; it usually does. My reading preferences mostly started out with Final Fantasy - X/X-2, VIII, VII, XII and XIII, all of which I've had direct experience in playing - then branched out into other areas. Given constraints on my time, I mostly tend to read shorter fics (which can be read in a few hours at least), though I'm getting round to reading some of the longer ones now. After 5 years on FFN, I've now read a lot of BtVS and Evangelion, started mining at my leisure through the vast repository of HP and Naruto ffic, and come across an eclectic mass of other stuff from dozens of other fandoms. Providing it's well-written, I can stomach most stuff, though I detest gratuitous yaoi and rendering characters like Rikku, Selphie, Yuffie etc. (or, say, Xander or Luna for that matter) into airheaded sugar-addicts with a fiery passion. If I could be considered to have an OTP, it would probably be Yuffentine (FFVII). Mainly for the contrast. In other fandoms, I tend to go for the prior-friendship pairings, mainly for the RL-realism. (I've seen plenty of 'old married couple' arguments; I've seen them lead to plenty of not-so-'old married couples' divorcing.) Anyway... Constructive criticism is good. Story suggestions are good, though keep in mind what I've written above. If you happen to spot something that's a little too close to someone else's work for comfort, then please tell me so I can check it myself - I do try to avoid that kind of thing. Language complaints... well, I'm Australian. So words like 'd*mn', 'bl*dy', 'h*ll', etc are just plain words outside of this profile. Live with it. Nowadays I spend a fair bit of time browsing through Twisting the Hellmouth's archives, though I've only just made an account for it (HTML-formatting for submissions - yech!). A great place to find good BtVS-crossover fic - visit if you're interested. I'd particularly recommend some of Greywizard and MMcGregor's work over there, which can't be found on FFnet (though they don't post all their work over there, either - XanderZone and I Need A Parrot have some more of their stuff). Occasionally I also look through AO3 and Mediaminer. I'll probably go looking through and maybe DLP one of these days... But of course, I'm easiest to find on the SpaceBattles forums, where I'm registered as Facepalmist. Help Me Find This Fic! Sometimes I just...lose fics. You know how it goes - can't be bothered logging in to track them at the time, the find you just can't remember what the f*ck they were called. So, if you happen to remember, please drop me a PM? Harry Potter - (unofficial) crossover with the Cthulhu Mythos. In diary form, dictated by a Diagon Alley resident (maybe Borgin/Burke of Knockturn Alley, maybe OC). Oneshot, details a bystander who watches as Voldemort delves into the Elder Gods side of things and drags the world into the abyss piece by piece - Harry challenges eventually, and fails. The diary's writer goes mad as he delves into same, in an attempt to protect himself. No pairings, complete. Bad end. (Much thanks to Kaelas17 for helping to resolve the other entry; it was either MockV's 'A Twist of Chance', a conflation of AToC and some similar work, or a more recent fic that was subsequently pulled for plagiarising AToC.) Finally, I have a C2 for Final Fantasy VII, a collection of pre-Compilation fics which is intended to cut out the endless trawling through crap that so many readers have to go through in the back pages of the archive. Currently I'm thirty pages in (K-M, English). This expands intermittently...really, really intermittently. | |||||||
