Author has written 6 stories for Maid Sama!, and Doctor Who. I feel like something needs to be written in my profile so it isn't so very blank... although I don't really mind not having a real profile. I wish this thing would give me a set structure rather than leaving me to do what I want. It's too much freedom! I CAN'T HANDLE IT! AAAAHHHH!! All right. I've chilled. It's all good. Name: woolSmynx. That's all I'm giving you. And just so you know, that isn't related to my name at all. I don't even know what kind of name you could even get from that. Age: somewhere between sixteen and twenty-four. Take a guess. Date: (That's only here because I feel like I'm in class. "Name, Date, and Teacher on all assignments in the top right corner, blah blah blah") Gender: Female. I could lie and say I'm male, but that would take to much effort... Interesting things about me: I'm actually in the process of writing a novel with a friend. I'm writing it, and she's going to transform the normal novel into a graphic novel. However, the main male character persists on acting like characters from the mangas from which I especially like the main guys. Namely, Usui Takumi from Maid-sama, and Takashima Kei from S.A. It's awful for my novel because my character is always out of character. Rereading the story just scares me because he has a different personality in every chapter! Look what you people have done to my writing!! PLUS, I keep getting distracted from my novel to write fanfiction. You people are the reason I procrastinate so much. Favorite colors: I really like indigo and periwinkle right now, but if you start naming colors with interesting names, I'll probably like them. I used to love fuchsia. Correction: I will like the color you name as long as it isn't a type of yellow. I cannot STAND the color yellow. Something else interesting: I am a thespian. You don't know what that is, then look it up. What do you think the internet is for? Reading? Favorite mangas: Kaichou wa Maid-sama, Special A, Tokyo Mew Mew, Kuroshitsuji, Fullmetal Alchemist, D. Gray Man, 1/2 Prince, and there are others but I can't think of them right now... More stuff I like: I have recently, (and by recently I mean ages ago now) become obsessed with Doctor Who. My favorite Doctor is the tenth and my favorite companion is Donna Noble, who is brilliant, by the way. To those of you who are interested, I do NOT LIKE Rose, (who almost destroyed the earth TWICE) Amy, (who is really just a younger "sexier" model of Donna, but not nearly close enough to Donna's brilliance and character growth) or River Song (who uses GUNS. And whose "spoilers" attitude really gets on my nerves... Things I hate: Don't even get me started. I will never stop... Favorite animals: (in order from top to bottom, my top five) 1. Cat 2. Fox 3. Dog 4. Squirrel 5. Bat I always enjoy reading other people's profiles and seeing all the copy/paste things, but that would mean that I would actually have to go and copy and paste stuff. again, too much effort. Instead, I will put up an assignment that I had to do for my English class. Yay more information that is totally useless! I AM A THESPIAN. I have been acting in Shakespeare plays since I was eight years old, which is why I chose “thespian” rather than “actress” because it has more of an archaic feel. Ever since my first play, I have felt the need to be on stage and express myself through acting. Acting gives me confidence, energy, joy, love, hate, sadness, eagerness, and a whole plague of other emotions all while I’m having a blast with my castmates. (Oh look. Now you know what a thespian is!) I AM A SINGER. Singing is something that I have been doing for as long as I can remember. I love singing and because I am aware of my talents, I also do like to show them off. One of my fondest memories is singing from the hymnbook while my grandpa played the piano. I AM A GRAMMAR SNOB. My mother is an English teacher, so good grammar has been pounded into my head. One of my biggest pet peeves actually happens to be when someone says “good” instead of “well.” Correcting people is always fun. I AM A NERD. Along with English, all of my other subjects in school have always been very important. Just as grammar has been pounded into my head, so has the value of getting good grades. Studying has never been my strong suit, so I am quite proud of my intelligence and cramming skills. I AM A BAND GEEK (and proud of it!) I started piano lessons in the first grade and that was my first experience with music that was not just singing. Ever since then, music has played a hugely significant role in my life. I have also learned oboe and clarinet, and because of the band classes in high school, I plan to continue my career in music. Well! It has been absolute AGES since I last really did anything on this account, so I feel like something new ought to be placed here... Except nothing in my life has really changed... Well, except schooling styles... I feel like there should be something profound and remarkable on everybody's profile to help mark them as unique, but I can't think of anything that makes me entirely special... I'm here because I love to read, and too many characters from too many shows, mangas, and what-have-you's, have been not given the chance they really need to succeed they way we all KNOW they should have. (Or not succeed for some. I'm following a storyline now that's all about killing off a certain character in wonderfully vicious ways.) I love fanfiction because it gives authors a chance to write and explore without being forced to create whole new worlds. It's less of a blank page of paper and being told to draw, but more of a bunch of lines that we can connect into anything we want. I tried explaining fanfiction to my younger cousin once. (He was six or seven at the time I think) and I said that the idea of fanfiction was a whole bunch of "what if's." What if Cinderella didn't meet the prince but instead met a stableboy? What if Thomas the Tank Engine got sick? What if Sleeping Beauty woke up early? I feel like that explanation is probably one of the most apt explanations I've ever given. Fanfiction's not just something that the biggest nerds all gather to do and pair up characters to have sex. (Well, that's not ALL we do, anyway.) There are some amazingly brilliantly wonderful authors out there. And they aren't all preteens and teenagers. I've seen people on fanfiction and livejournal who are well into their forties and fifties if not older. Of course, I'm not saying that there aren't really bad fanfictions out there as well. I've read a few that had potential plotlines, but the language, grammar, spelling, and dialogue just... frankly, it made me want to cry. Or gouge my eyes out. Or at least find a good fanfiction to read. But hey, those authors are learning. (Hopefully.) As for me, I have a bit of a problem with coming up with an absolutely BRILLIANT idea, and then getting a few chapters cranked out and then nothing... for months... And then a chapter! Then nothing... for months... And boy oh boy do I feel guilty every single time. I'm absolutely ELATED every single time one of my favourite authors has a new story, and I have enough that I have a new story/chapter at least once a week, while here I leave my audience dangling... Well, that's just about it for me now. I may read this at a later point (probably in a few years) and wonder why in the WORLD I started babbling about things. Oh well... that's just sort of what I do sometimes. |
