Hi! I'm 20 years old, and I read this fic back when I was in middle school. I loved it so much that I've never forgotten it, or its name, even after all these years. I thought of it yesterday and decided to re-read this story, to see if it would move me as much as it had all those years ago. It's still a beautiful story, and though I haven't seen Starship in a long time and am a little uncomfortable to think of the age gap (I've convinced myself Up isn't that old, just prematurely gray and emotionally aged), this still meant so much to me. I don't know how you came up with all this; it's so creative! You stretched the little details from the musical into full, emotional moments. It's amazing. Some of the things I read when I was a kid are subpar when I read them now, but this story really does hold up. Thank you for it. I'm going to rewatch Starship for the first time in years. Thank you again!

After reading your story for the second time, i just had to tell you how much i adore it!
After watching Starship i felt a little unsatisfied that Taz & Up didn't kiss, or got together so i look for fanfictions who could fill that void.
Little did i now there where so many of them.
But yours is by far the best and i can't even explain it with words (english is not my first language - as you may have guessed) how truely beautyful i find the way you discribed there journey.

So I truly believe that this is the fanfiction that every Starkid should read, and every Starkid has. Your writing is the most known Starship fanfiction hands down, if you look at the UpTaz tag on tumblr, your run in with the words Learning to Dance is inevitable. You have added meaning to many of the parts of the play I just thought were funny, and I will never watch the musical the same way again, that's how amazing your story was

Okay, so full story: I showed Starship to my girlfriend not that long ago, and about a week later I get a text saying that I need to read this story immediately, and that it made the play a million times better. So I start reading it, and HOLY CRAP was she right!

This adds to much depth to the play, and especially to the kind where Taz says "And now we dance." Every time dancing was mentioned, I squeeled a little. This backstory makes go much sense, and it makes me so happy. (Although I have to say, I was not emotionally prepared for the scene where Up was torn apart by robots. I could tell at the beginning if the scene that this was when it was going to happen, and I almost couldn't do it. God, that part was brilliant, but it hurt.)

Basically I am in love with your words, and this is 100% the real Taz and Up backstory, nobody will be able to convince me otherwise.
