Author has written 7 stories for X-Men, X-Men: The Movie, Avengers, and Ironman. My name is Liz, my pen name here is saga's pen (betaadamantium over on AO3). Saga is the Norse goddess connected with poetry and writing and history. She is thought to be an avatar of Frigg/Frigga. I've been writing since I was at least 12, simple fairy tales and the like. My first fanfic was Star Trek related, and I continued to write in that fandom until high school. I created my own characters and sometimes inserted myself and other people I knew into the stories. Needless to say it pretty much sucked but I was still told I had talent. In high school I began writing in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom. I did not continue this after I graduated in 2001, mostly because I felt I had grown out of the fandom. I entered the X-Men fandom around 1990 when I was little, starting with the Animated Series and then comics, but didn't start writing until the first movie came out in 2000 and have been writing in it ever since, both comic- and movieverse (mostly comicverse). It is my main and favorite fandom. Wolverine is obviously my favorite but for the longest time when I was little I swore Gambit was my boyfriend. I'm also a big fan of Rogue, and in recent titles I really like Pixie and X-23. When Firefly came around I dabbled in the fandom but to date haven't completed anything. Jayne Cobb and River Tam are my favorites (and yes, I ship them). I've also written within the Anita Blake fandom, again never finishing anything I began. I lost interest after the author took the series in a bad direction. As far as pairings go, I work almost strictly with OCs. Why? Because a lot of the time I don't feel that anyone within the canon would fit as a pairing, or I feel that I wouldn't do that pairing justice. It's easier to create an OC and work from there. Is it a bit of shameless self-insertion? Of course, anyone who creates an OC does it, and they'd be lying if they said they didn't. Authors of original works do it, too. I try very hard to keep the OCs down-to-earth and non-Mary Sue-ish. I welcome any constructive criticism in that vein to help me improve as a writer. Wolverine is my main muse. He's been in my head since I was eight years old and my first taste was the X-Men animated series. I picked up comics after that and he hasn't left me alone since. I'm always worried that I'm writing him wrong but I've gotten numerous compliments to the contrary so I must be doing something right. He has definitely deviated from canon to the point I really only write my own version of him; there are so many terrible things that Marvel has done with this character that I just can't include them, like Daken and Romulus. Recently (as of 2012) I've been dabbling in Avengers MCU fanfic, focusing on Clint Barton/Hawkeye. I am 30 and happily married to my high school sweetheart (awww *gags*). We have two cats, Huginn and Muninn (I have a thing for Norse mythology, obviously), who are brothers. We're not planning on having kids for various reasons and cats are hard enough to take care of sometimes. I have survived one bout with thyroid cancer, and several related surgeries. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, as well as PTSD stemming from abuse in my childhood. I'm being treated for depression and anxiety. My life is a frakking laugh riot because of all of this, but at least I finally got SSD so I'm not a total waste of space. In college I was working toward a BA in english/creative writing, which got sidetracked when I became ill. Who knows when/if this'll be completed, school be expensive, yo. That and fibro-fog makes it nearly impossible to concentrate. I enjoy reading, mostly fantasy and historical fantasy. Fave authors are Jim Butcher (whom I've met) and George R. R. Martin. I also love non-fiction history, mythology, and archaeology books. I knit and crochet, and I sew. Dabbling in drawing and sucking horribly. Some of my current favorite TV shows are Eureka, Warehouse 13, and Vikings. Fave movies are Blast from the Past, The Princess Bride, The Three Musketeers, and Super Troopers. Musically I'm in to everything from metal to classical. My favorite bands are Foo Fighters and Halestorm. I'm developing a love for Pink, which is as poppy as I get. I can't get enough of Celtic music. You can follow me on tumblr if you want, I'm betaadamantium there, same as my AO3 name. If I think of anything else I'd like to share I'll add it in the future. |
