I'm a 24 year old addict to Harry Potter fanfiction. I have only now started writing my first fanfic The Shattering of Foundations. Suddenly, there jumped this great plotbunny into my head and I wrote for twelve hours non stop untill I've had the first chapter down. This is how far I've got before my creative streak got exhausted. The rest is already roughly outlined and I can go on from there. As always I am convinced to have written organized and detailled, but ... Any comments you might have are extremely welcome.

I think, there is a real great plotbunny trying to break through and it would be a shame to kill it by rushing it along or poisoning it with my own writing style. I might as well have given it an heart attack with the countless cups of coffee, I've had.

Sometimes I have tried to create my own images. However, since English is not my native language there surely are some unexpected and sometimes unintentionally funny bumps in my text.

So what do you think of my take on the pureblood conflict? Although I think that this theory fits in neatly with the canon, I somehow don't think that JKR will go there. I tried to tie up some lose ends though, like the sorting hat telling Harry he could be great in Slytherin, warning them about house unity, Voldemort telling Harry they have a lot in common...

While I really like the Potterverse, I think Harry behaves much too often like an idiot. How realistic is it really that he could defeat Voldemort like that? It's infuriating really. He never thinks ahead and is so very prejuidiced and self-righteous. So here is my alternate take on book six, mainly containing an improved (and gay, though that really is not that far fetched) Harry.

I've restarted reading DH, though I am a bit disappointed in how everything turned out. Harry never really matured in the sense of thinking for himself. He has decided to trust Dumbledore to the very end. While I agree that it is important to trust people, blind trust leads to terrible things; in this case it might have caused Harry's untimely death, for the greater good, of course. Dumbledore obviously had his flaws (He turns into one of very few grey/ ambigous rounded characters), a fact that is rather violently thrust under Harry's nose. Otherwise, characters, especially Voldemort and Death Eaters have become far too cliched.

I also think Harry using Unforgivables that easily is not very credible! Is Harry really the kind of person that can effectively cast the crucitas curse? After all, you have to really mean it! Consciously, causing another sentinent being that much pain and being the same nice person afterwards? I don't say he would have any qualms about using a gun or a knive to cause pain or even kill, if need be but it's far easier to physically end a life than by willpower (That's what it comes down to, isn't it -
really meaning it! I had always pictured Harry the kind of person to still feel some remorse for harming another being at least somewhere and then he should not be able to cast that spell successfully.

The pureblood vs. muggle(born) conflict has not been solved and it is only a matter of time before the next Dark Lord with antimuggle sentiments will come along.

Taking all this into consideration I think that it still makes sense to continue my story, whose only actual diversion from canon attempts to be: "What if Harry had started to truly think for himself? Well, of course I've also already paired him up with Draco Malfoy (although it probably won't ever be your typical romance, I can't see them as a real couple within the next two years), but I need him at Harry's side, mostly for information on pureblood/ Death Eater society and he is so much more fun to write than Ginny/Harry... The facts around Voldemort shall also be as canon as possible, although Harry is bound to get a different perception on them.
