![]() Author has written 4 stories for Firefly, Pride and Prejudice, and Star Wars. (Changed username from Just a Blip on the Radar to UnfathomableDiscrepancy. I like my sonar jokes. :P ) Hi all! I'm an 23-year-old lit fanatic presently living in the United States. I work at both a public library and an academic library, and I aim to complete my bachelor's in Language, Literature and Writing before proceeding on to getting my Masters in Literature and Library Science. Needless to say, storytelling has always been a centerpiece to my life. That said, I am horrifically obsessed with virtually every creative outlet...Unfortunately that also means that I'm horrifically obsessed with being busy...So while I may have random intervals where I'll seemingly vanish, you can rest assured that I'll be scrounging whatever spare moment I can to continue writing. Unfortunately, these past three years of college sapped a lot of that energy, so I was on a creative-writing hiatus for a long while...Despite my awkwardly long absence here on , I do plan to be as absorbed in my fanfiction/fanart craze for a VERY long time. Like, until I'm dead. I boldly confess that fanfiction is my outlet to explore the realm of canon/non-canon relationships of all varieties be it platonic, romantic, or adversarial. I'm very character driven, and character dynamics are the most effective way for me as a reader to explore the quality of a character. Bearing that all in mind, here's a roster of all the fandomy things that I obsess over. (I already have plot bunnies scripted out for a majority of them. Someday I'll have time to actually write them too!) I dig: Firefly (The epic cult classic TV show created by Joss 'the Boss' Whedon) Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles) (Fractured fairy tale sci-fi cyberpunk dystopia!!!! Cinderella is a cyborg! Rapunzel lives in a satellite! Red Riding hood is a hotheaded french girl! Snow White was a child born on the moon during the Winter solstice! IT'S LIKE A FIREFLY FAIRYTALE MASHUP. SO FREAKING GOOD. Star Wars (the famed episodic film saga) Ladyhawke (movie) Battlestar Galactica reboot (TV Show) Agents of SHIELD (TV Show) Animorphs (book/tv series) Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra (TV Series) Labyrinth (the Jim Henson movie AND the infamous Girl's Next Door fancomic by Pika-la-Cynique on DeviantART) Hawksong (book by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes) Babylon 5 (a 90s cult classic TV Show. Space Opera) Avengers (A Joss Whedon milestone) V for Vendetta (Particularly the film starring Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman, but the comic is excellent as well.) Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (TV series) Ultimate Spiderman (TV series) X-Men: Evolution (TV series) Sherlock Holmes (the BBC show, the RDJ film version, AND the original novellas by ACD) Dollhouse (TV series; Another Joss Whedon gem) Dark Angel (TV series) Gemma Doyle Trilogy (book series) Gargoyles (TV series) Phantom of the Opera (musical. Book as well, but mostly the musical) Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Yet Another Whedon Show...unsurprising at this point, right?) FANFICTIONS I'VE WRITTEN Restoring Diplomacy (Book One of the Early Days duet) - *COMPLETE* Basically recounts the Phantom Menace with Sabé's perspective. We travel from Sabé's pre-handmaiden days through the celebration of the end of Naboo's occupation with the Trade Federation.
A Letter of Degradation and Contempt: *SHORT, SWEET, AND COMPLETE! :) * It was an AP Lit project that I did back in high school. The essence of the writing is sufficient, I assure you, despite it's meager word count. I like to think that I have properly captured Elizabeth's biting sarcasm and high intellect. It was a LOT of fun to belittle the philandering Mr. Wickham under the guise of demure civility, let me tell you. FANFICTIONS I AM IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING I won't give away too many details, but I do plan to write... THE EARLY DAYS DUET (A Star Wars fic) BOOK TWO: The Will of the Force --All of the events leading up to the clone wars; Sabé becomes an outlaw in order to unravel some of Naboo's darkest political secrets. My Sabewan vibes will be a little more overt for this fic, and Sabé will undergo a LOT of emotional trauma. VOICES OF AUTHORITY TRILOGY (A continuation of my Star Wars fic) (Sabé is still my protagonist for the story) NOTE: I may end up making serial one-shots in the time period around the Clone Wars...Still debating how I will structure the format.* (The chapters for the entirety of this trilogy will have a more episodic feel to them with overarching elements, including the UNRESOLVED TENSION I'm creating between Sabé and Obi-Wan. :3 The romance will be very slow going and not completely central; but it will be pivotal. I'm hoping to make it addicting in its own way.) BOOK ONE: Before the Dark Times - Basically covers the early half of the Clone Wars. Starts at circa 22 BBY and ends circa 19 BBY. I will be including a fair amount of episodes from the Clone Wars TV series to help with continuity and stuff. But Sabé will be primarily focused on her Jewel of Zenda arc. BOOK TWO: The Shadows of War- Zeroes in on the final year of the Clone Wars in 18 BBY. It will be intense, melodramatic, and dark. Oh, and Sabéwan tensions finally resolve. More or less. ;) BOOK THREE: Journey's End- Starts promptly at the events leading to the Revenge of the Sith, continues through the Imperial Era, and ends at the explosion of Alderaan. FANFICTIONS I EVENTUALLY PLAN TO WRITE A major wacky AU storyline in Firefly featuring the entire crew. Meant to be a humorous side-adventure. Super excited to work on it when I get a chance. Body swaps will ensue, and hilarity will inevitably follow. :) Ladyhawke tribute fic. Because that movie has NO LOVE from the fans when it obviously should; considering it's a tragic love story and all...Not enough of the fanfics for it on here for it aren't all that good, unfortunately. So I aim to fix that as best I can. A Firefly crossover fic with the western film Silverado. Think about it: There's a Mal in both movies who have "had about enough of what ain't right"; there are two characters with the last name "Cobb" who love money more than almost anything else; and they're both western films! (more or less). You better believe I'm making a fan fic on this! Just gotta find time, and it'll happen. I'd like to make Lincoln 6 Echo from The Island be a storm-trooper in Star Wars. Not quite sure which generation. But I think it would be awfully interesting if Lincoln ran into Obi-Wan...I think it would be really cool if Jordon 3 Delta was a sith assassin, too. I'm rather fond of the idea of pairing Belle from Beauty and the Beast with Dorian Gray from Oscar Wilde's deliciously Faustian novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. They would be an unlikely pair, but Belle managed to draw out the inner beauty of her own Beast...so why not be able to do the same for Dorian Gray? She's not fazed by the ugliness that the world imparts on people, and she has a certain tenacity for finding the best in people despite their flaws. I definitely think she has the capacity to redeem the detrimental qualities of poor Dorian. And it would be a great way to explore character growth and development based on the congruency of their depth as characters. I have sooooo many other ideas (seven pages of a list compiled in font size 11, to be exact...), one might think I am an utterly pathetic human being for psychoanalyzing the glory of being a fangirl...If I post all my ideas here, I may never get around to actually *writing* them because my brainstorm bunnies are multiplying like...well, bunnies. XD WHAT ELSE AM I UP TO? BOOK(S) I'M READING: The Force Awakens by (shoot forgot the author's name atm... But anyway the book is really engaging so far! I'm about three chapters in. BOOK(S) I'VE RECENTLY FINISHED: Portrait of a Lady by Henry James -- Probably one of the first novels of the 18th century to explore the active consciousness of characterization. There is a lot of complex thought and characterization in this novel. It's truly wonderful! If you're into super-dense books with more interaction than action, I highly suggest it. It's very cerebral, and the heroine, Isabel Archer, is deeply compelling. MOVIE(S) I RECENTLY SAW: Zootopia Such a profoundly relevant movie! Sharp wit, great narrative structure, and heartwarming characters! watch it it's so good! MOVIE(S) I PLAN TO SEE: Suffragette Because I have time in my life again to watch movies!!! This film was recommended to me by a coworker. For now, that's all this lame aspiring writer has to say. I know my credentials on this site are minimal at best, and I don't exactly have a huge stock of stories yet...But I hope you at least can enjoy what I have to offer. ~I aim to misbehave~ |
