But Loki does not believe that. What he believes - that is truly difficult to say. For belief is an Abyss, and he has fallen into too many of those already. But the candles hold him back. Always. A sort of sick fascination with her radiance, in stark contrast with the dark shadows surrounding him, brings him closer to her. There are Oaths that need to be fulfilled, there are quests that cannot be avoided. Caranthir knows that a sooner or later he and his brothers have to go to Doriath to regain the Silmaril. Sort of an independent sequel for my other fic "Righteous Deeds".

Curufin inhaled deeply, leaning against the stone cave and savoring the coolness it brought to his skin. He thought for a while. Then he spoke. "...Tell...my son."

"Maitimo, I can't breathe." / I watched him intently as the light faded from his eyes. "I know."

It seems that I am borne upwards by the orcs for the world to see my humiliation, my pain, for the birds to be the witness, for the wind to be the mourner as it shrieks at injustice, and the sky to remain unchanged, still blue and still serene.
