Author has written 41 stories for Beka Cooper series, Trickster series, Protector of the Small Quartet, Song of the Lioness, Maximum Ride, Twilight, Hunger Games, and Circle of Magic. Hello all. I realize it's been forever since I updated any of my stories or even showed my face online (you know what I mean :P) so I doubt anyone is even checking this. If you are I'm sorry for my prolonged absence. I'm way too busy during the school year, quite frankly, and theatre goes above writing in my "Ways I Use My Free Time" list. It's first on it, actually, and second only to school and other required activities on the "Ways I Use My Time In General" list. My point to that rant is that I am sorry. When I first got my fanfiction I was a middle schooler, and as we all know middle school sucks, I was in dire need of some non-school related company, so to speak. But now I'm in high school and I'm just getting busier, and my friends are actually more mature now (yay!) so I don't need fanfiction as much. Don't worry, I'll still try to finish writing some of my stories come summertime, and probably revise this whole thing then, but I just wanted to apologize. Real life takes over, y'know? I promise I'll try to finish Two Much of a Good Thing. I can't promise anything about the others, but I should probably complete a plot before I try original fic. If you really feel strongly about me continuting something, fell free to message me, as I love to talk to people. I'll probably continue the ark about Madeline of Silverbrook, because I love that OC, but like I said, no promises. Sorry. Hey, I'm Rowena of Naxen (not really of Naxen, duh), but just call me Rowena. I'm a unique 15-year-old girl with brown hair and eyes, and I'm in 10th grade. I enjoy fiction books, writing, and watching and performing in musicals. I don't enjoy horror movies, violence, or sports of any kind. I really, really love the color purple, and I hate eating by myself, napping, and staying home alone in the dark. I love languages and am learning Spanish and French (though I can't pronounce French at all) and someday hope to be fluent enough to read in them. I'd like to learn Italian. I dislike sciences, all of them, except psycology, which doesn't really count. I don't eat meat. I read a lot. In general fantasy or fiction with some supernatural element-I went to middle school, I go to high school, so why do I want to read about someone else's drama? (coughthecliquebookscough) But I'm trying to expand my horizons into other genres, a little bit at a time--I do like historical fiction quite a bit. I write fanfiction because I have a big imagination that goes into overdrive after I finish a book, especially if I don't like the ending. I love writing romance even though my love life is nonexistant, and support my favorite pairings bravely. Writing fanfics helps me practice to write original fiction. I aspire to actually finish an original story someday, but for now, only a few people are permitted to read those. My friends thecolorsoftwilight and Sorenne are among those people (yeah, that was pretty much a shameless shout-out) because they're awesome and I actually know them. Avatar Quotes: N'oublie pas de revenir vers moi and Suivent ta voie - from the song Cerf Volant from the movie Les Choristes. If I'm not updating I a) have writer's block, b) am distracted or c) am way too busy because of school or play practice. Find me on... -Goldenlake (TP forum) http:///index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=rowena -The King's Own (exclusively TP fanfic archive) http:///viewuser.php?uid=72 -King's Cross Station (Harry Potter forum) http:///index.cgi?action=viewprofile Woo-hoo! As of March 19th I have been on for one year. Time really does fly! What I'm reading right now: Uglies and All Quiet on the Western Front (for school). Current Obsession: The Hunger Games Working on: chapter 3 of ASCaL, companion one-shot to "I Am Still Here", competition one-shots for MoT and Starvation, finishing 2MoaGT. I will finish it, I promise! :D If you're bored... -go sign Tortallan Renegade's petition against the seperation of the Tamora Pierce category (link on her profile) -pop on over to "Beka and the Rogue" or "The Men of Tortall", two awesome forums I'm on frequently -go to Zoe's Harry Potter forum "Kings Cross Station" (url above) Forums/Communitities: Kate of Carlay and I are now running a The Hunger Games forum called Starvation. RoamingReming, the original administrator, has handed over control of it to us. There are monthly challenges based off of prompts, a fic competition that is in it's final stage (judging), and lots of fun games and enthralling discussions. Please come by and visit sometime! Starzgirl and I have started a connected Beka/Rosto community and forum, both called Beka and the Rogue. It's for people who think Beka and Rosto definitely need to get together in the third Beka Cooper book. Subscribe! here's the links (even though the community one is at the bottom of the page) Favorite books, music, movies, etc. Books and Authors: Tamora Pierce (I prefer her Tortall books), Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, Maximum Ride series, Gail Carson Levine's books, Neil Gaiman's books (Stardust and Neverwhere, especially), Darkest Powers series, Bartimaeus trilogy, Gemma Doyle trilogy, Mortal Instruments series, Wicked Lovely, The Life and Times of Eliza Rose, Blue Bloods series, the Hunger Games, The Adoration of Jenna Fox My favorite band is the Decemberists, though I enjoy the All-American Rejects, the Airborne Toxic Event, Superbus, and musicals such as Les Miserables, Wicked, and Footloose. A big thing for me with music is the lyrics, which is part of the reason why I love the Decemberists. Also, their lead singer has a really sexy voice ;D Movie-wise I watch a lot of chick flicks...a few favorites are She's the man, John Tucker Must Die, Miss Congeniatlity, and Down with Love. I also like romances like Pretty Woman and Notting Hill, and comedies like Ruthless People, 9 to 5, and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. I absolutely love the comic strip "Pearls Before Swine", so much that I put a picture of Junior and Joy, Zeebra's niece, hugging, on my yearbook page. Favorite Characters: George. Rosto. Nawat. Neal. Jon. Aly. Alanna. Mimi Force. Characters I actually can't stand: Jack Force. Liam Ironarm. About pairings... I used to have a list of all my favorites up here, but the thing is, if it is well written, the pairing can be pretty much everything and it will think it's absolutley adorable. I mean, I don't support Kel/Wyldon, but if it's written well I'll probably end up squeeing. That being said, my favorite pairings to write are Kel/Dom, Alanna/George, Alanna/Jon, Max/Fang, Rose/Scorpius, Kel/Sabine, Alan/Lianne and Alan/Liam. My new The Hunger Games OTP is Finnick/Annie. It trumps K/G or K/P and you know it. But I'm still a Gale supporter, and I love being in denial. And no matter how well-written it is, I'm loathe to read anything that's Alanna/Liam, Sky/Jack or Draco/Hermione. Oh, and Kel/Owen. There's nothing wrong with it except that it beat Kel/Dom and Kel/Raoul in SMACKDOWN. However, K/W used to be in the list of Pairings I Will Never Read, so all things change. And I totally agree with this: Stop the Pairing Wars! By copying and pasting this in your profile, you vow to respect other pairings and the people that like them. You shalt not insult them, explain why they can't be together, or say that they would rather be with someone else. You shalt have your opinions but shalt not insult shalt avoid them if you hate them. You shalt keep an open mind about stories even if you despise the pairing. You shalt paste this in your profile. so even if it's not one of my personal faves, I'll keep an open mind. (p.s. I got this from supersophnz's profile, it's not mine!) Quotes, etc: sorry if these aren't quoted perfectly, I may not have the book right in front of me! -from books/movies/tv shows/musicals- "Don't you see all of that in your teacup in the mornin'?" -George to Thom, Lioness Rampant by Tamora Pierce "She's shy, cabbage head, not stupid!" -Aniki to Rosto, Terrier by Tamora Pierce Nico: We need music. How's your singing? Percy: How did you do that? "Paul knows me pretty well. He's seen me slice up demons and leap out of exploding school buildings, so he probably figured taking a car a few hundred yards wasn't exactly the most dangerous thing I'd ever done." -Percy in The Last Olympian "I guess if I were more of a fembot, it would bother me that a blind guy six months younget than I am could cook better than I could. But I'm not. So it didn't." -Max's thoughts in The Angel Experiment by James Patterson "Coke. It's not just for breakfast anymore." -Fang in The Angel Experiment by James Patterson Max: What? When did they start coming after you? "I vill now destroy de Snickuhs bahrs!" -Gazzy in Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports by James Patterson is that the right book? I forget :( "You looooove me. You love me this much!" -Fang in Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports by James Patterson "Dearly departed, scarcely lamented, deeply demented Dr. Samuel Lyle." -the demon thing in The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong Dumbledore: You're probably wondering where we're going. "It means 'Shadowhunters: looking better in black than the widows of our enemies since 1234'." -Jace in City of Bones by Cassandra Clare -from fanfictions- "I'm a lion. I'm a freakin' tiger. I'm a shark, grrr! I'll conquer tomorrow." -Al Trebond in Diamond Dogs by Verasque "The Third Company of the King's Own was notorius for three things: bedding anything female, pranking anyone in a uniform and running a farily prosperous betting circle." - Flirting With Consequence by Jezebel Montgomery "Where would this guy take her? Considering the fact that Max has fought Erasers, flew cross-country to save flock-members, and lived with Angel, it takes a lot to excite her. This Sam guy was going to have a difficult time showing her a good time." -Fang's thoughts in Fang's Rambles by pato picante "Dom counted the ceremony as simultaneously the most exciting and boring event in his life." -Nights by LaylaYuy “Wow, Fang. Since Max can’t cook and apparently you can’t either, your little Fax kids will have to eat, like, Weight Watchers yogurt for breakfast.” -Sick Days by Strawberry Shortcake123 "Ok, Max, let's try to keep the fever-induced conversation to a minimum." -Fang in Another Form of the Avian Bird Flu by St. Fang of Boredom "Just to let you know, running yourself off a cliff may just result in you just being depressed at the bottom of a cliff instead of at the top." Fly By Twilight: The Pack by St. Fang of Boredom, after Iggy turns into a wolf Alice: So, according to Carlisle, your Flock showed up, according to Nessie, Iggy's a wolf, and according to Edward, the driveway's a mine field. Could I have an explanation? Fang: Ummmm...Esme? What is that? "Ask her if she gets paid to flirt with fourteen year old guys or if she does it willingly." -number two for Brigid Dwyer in Ten Sure Ways to Get the MR Characters to Hate You by Vera A "Force him to do the “Cha Cha Slide”. " -number ten for Omega in Ten Sure Ways to Get the MR Characters to Hate You by Vera A "My timing is always perfect for embarrassing situations. I’m sort of like an awkwardness magnet. It just happens. You know how Bella Swan is a walking calamity? Well, I’m a rolling ball of awkwardness." -Fang's thoughts in chapter 23 of Diary of a Lovesick Mutant by Phoenix Fanatic "You know, sometimes it feels as if everything in my life is one huge innuendo." -Fang's thoughts in chapter 23 of Diary of a Lovesick Mutant by Phoenix Fanatic “It’s called a hangover. You get them after being a total jerk the night before.” -Fang to Iggy in chapter 24 of Diary of a Lovesick Mutant by Phoenix Fanatic "ZING! Points go to Iggy for making an awkward situation even more awkward." -Fang's thoughts in chapter 25 of Diary of a Lovesick Mutant by Phoenix Fanatic "He could see it all planned out already; life would be a never ending Beltane." -Just A Dream by Kate of Carlay "If you're going to make perverted allusions, children, at least make them funny." -Neal in One Talented Mouth by Rockstar with a Vendetta "I promised her the sky / But she wanted the ground." -Gale's half of the poem Mr Lovable and Mr Lonesome by Sam o'Rama -in general/from my life- "My life is one big 'you had to be there' moment." "Is anyone else having trouble getting to Narnia?" "Duct Tape is like the Force. It has a dark side and a light side and it holds the universe together!" "Give me my fanfiction and nobody gets hurt" "Why is it that when Alice and Jasper leave, no one cares that Jasper's gone?" "I think you could go as yourself and it'd be weird enough." -my mother when I asked her if I could act really weird when we went to her family reunion. They're not exactly the most unique people in the world. Me: Oh! I've decided what I'm going to do. I'll have him be filling in for the Lord High Magistrate. He's in training to be the next Lord Provost My friend, when asked by his six-year-old cousing what Viagra was: It's something for men who are depressed to make them happy again "TECH: without us you'd be singing really loudly, naked, on a blank stage in the dark." I, Rowena of Naxen, do solemly swear to review all the fics I read, regardless of the number of reviews, its age, its length, or anything else. I have joined the review revolution. -Copy and paste this into your profile to join the review revolution!- The Review Revolution... Even if the fic has 10,002,464 reviews already... Even if the fic is older than time itself... Even if it was abandoned a loooooooooooooooooooooong time ago... Even if the author turned out to be a total psychopath... Even if the OC is a Sue and the spelling would make a dictionary cry... I will review every fic I read. What goes around comes around, and more people will review my own fics. I have joined Review Revolution. (got this long versiong from Peace-Love-And-Monkeys7112's profile. I like it better than the short version) I will always reply to a review, because I appreciate it so much. It truly encourages me to write more quicker. I appreciate Story Alert subscriptions but I love reviews. And if it's an anonymous review I'll probably reply quickly at the bottom of the next chapter just so you know I appreciate it! Stories : I used to have a large list of all my stories with the summaries, but really, why do I need that? You can read the summaries in the monster list of fics at the bottom of my profile (I really wouldn't expect you to read through them all anyway - yikes!), or if it's something extra, it'll probably be in an author's note in the story. Just to make it slightly less confusing, though... Forum challenges I write/have written for: -Men of Tortall's (MoT) monthly JoGeNuDoNaRo challenge (Tortall) -Forum: Starvation's monthly writing challenge (The Hunger Games) -Goldenlake's SMACKDOWN (Tortall) -The 2010 Goldenlake Drabble Tournament (GDT10) -Goldenlake's Malorie's Peak Prompts (MPP) Stuff You Need to Know About My Stories: Different had been discontinued and is being re-written. What Shouldn't Be is the re-write. High School Queen will also be re-written at some point, so it won't be updated for a long while. Thanks to Kate of Carlay for beta-reading The Fear to Fly, and for her invaluable advice on High School Queen and Lone Rose, which she will be helping me with if I ever get around to updating it. And for answering random questions about original work all the time :) Thanks to Arin Blaire for helping me with Ride of a Lifetime while she could! Thanks to thecolorsoftwilight for beta-reading the first chapter of Lizzie Masen, and because she continues to ask me when it will be updated.
