Author has written 9 stories for Numb3rs. To my readers: I'd like to thank everyone who has read or will read my stories. Your reviews have been both humbling and gratifying and I truly appreciate each and everyone of them. "Seasons" Excerpt from "Seasons" This ethereal form of existence confused him and left him in a state of perpetual uncertainty. He still felt the same as he had in life and had all of his old memories but he also had new ones too, and yet, he had no body….. no corporeal form. Despite this fact Tom had stood in Charlie's office when Schiller attacked him and had tried to intervene but he had no substance and could only watch helplessly as Schiller brutally beat his friend. Afterwards, he sat by Charlie's hospital bed along with Alan and Don urging him to wake up. Tom had been able to make contact with him then, only Charlie had thought that he had just been a figment of his imagination. Thomas Hill had stood on Johnston Ridge beside his friend when Charlie released his ashes to the wind and had soared over the valley seemingly free of all earthly bonds….save one…and unknowingly that one kept pulling him back. There had been a few occasions where Tom was sure that Charlie had heard him but each time his friend would find some logical reason to explain it away. He had tried to help Don as well, but just like his brother he refused to acknowledge his existence. Tom was going to have to come up with a more drastic measure to get their attention and it had to be something that Charlie's analytical mind wouldn't be able to reason away. To that end he had already set a plan in motion and tomorrow at his dedication ceremony Tom would see it come to fruition. It would be a shock to Charlie and Don but he sensed that this was the only way that he could get them both to move on. (If you look really close at the icon for "Seasons" you just might get a look at Thomas Hill.) "By the Dawn's Early Light" Excerpt from "By the Dawn's Early Light" He heard a noise and looked over his shoulder; Schiller had Charlie at the blackboard again and was adding some figures to one of the columns. He squinted at the clock with his good eye and panic spurred him forth. With Schiller on his feet his chances of discovery increased so he chose to crawl between the sofa and table, hoping that the table would hide him from view. Don tried to crawl faster and ignored the pain as he edged closer and closer to his goal. A sob of relief escaped his clenched teeth as he finally knelt beneath the spot on the table where his gun rested. Cautiously he stretched out his hand and pulled his gun from the table just as the first chime sounded from Schiller's pocket watch. "Obsession" - Winner at the 2009 Numb3rs awards for Best Drama and Best Novella. Nominated for Best Original Character - Henri Bashere Excerpt from "Obsession" Don absently popped a piece of gum into his mouth and lifted his eyes upward; the mountains silhouette was becoming visible with the approaching dawn. He steeled his heart, careful to cradle that little bubble of hope that he was protecting there and set his jaw stubbornly telling himself that Charlie would be alive when he got up there;the alternative was just too terrible to even consider. Don lowered his gaze and turned around to meet his teammates eyes; solemnly he nodded and boarded the helicopter with his team following closely behind him. "Preconceptions" Excerpt from "Preconceptions" "He leaned forward grinning conspiratorially. "To tell you the truth, I still get tingly all over just thinking about it; killing him would have been my tour de force...I mean how would you top that?" Posner's eyes took on a glazed appearance and a rapturous look crossed his face. "Can you imagine that feeling...knowing that you were the one responsible for the death of the next "Einstein?" "Inner Peace" - Nominated at the 2010 Numb3rs awards for Best Drama, Best Novella and Best Original Character - Samantha Wilkins Excerpts from: "Inner Peace" "A distant full-throated and soulful howl filled the air and soon after, an answering howl was heard. More coyotes began to respond to the call and for a while they serenaded the inhabitants of the desert. With the moonlight illuminating their steps, Don and Charlie made their way across the shadowed desert." "Oh God!" Charlie whispered breathlessly. "It can't be!" Don muttered, breaking out in a cold sweat. Most of the cave remained hidden in darkness but on the back wall the silhouette of a coyote danced eerily in the flickering firelight. "Too Close For Comfort" - Nominated at the 2009 Numb3rs awards for Best Episode Related Excerpt from "Too Close For Comfort" Charlie rocked back and forth nervously on his heels as he watched his students stand. His eyes shifted to the two men and he broke out in a sweat as he thought. "It's me your after, not them, please don't hurt them, please let them leave." The students began to move toward the aisle and his attention was drawn back to them. Some of them looked slightly bewildered, others seemed excited by the prospect of getting outside. They obediently followed his instructions however, and in single file they began to leave the room. He noticed that a few of them glanced across the aisle as they left and he turned his head following their movement. Charlie's eyes widened fearfully as they settled on the two men. They were no longer sitting but were walking down the aisle toward him. "An Eppes Christmas Carol" This story takes place during the second season and as all "Numb3rs" fans know the Eppes are Jewish. However, they are non practicing Jews at this time and Charlie's comment in "Provenance" about Margaret always wanting a Christmas Tree gave me the idea for this story. After the first three chapters readers may have a certain impression of the story but if they read Chapter 4 they will find a surprisng twist to the tale. Exerpt from "An Eppes Christmas Carol" As they lay there the ghost of Margaret Eppes gently kissed her husband's lips then whispered "I love you" as she watched him smile. She kissed Don's forehead and whispered his name lovingly then watched as his face relaxed in his sleep. As she ran her hand through Charlie's curls and kissed his cheek a single tear fell from beneath his lashes and he whispered, " I miss you, Mom." |
