Author has written 2 stories for Final Fantasy X, and Ouran High School Host Club. "O Mater Luna Regina Nocis Aduivo Me Nonc" Bio: Name- Liz Age- 20 Fav. Band- Stars, Shins, Deathcab for Cutie, Janis Joplin, The Silent Years, and Dr. Dog. They're obscure bands but they all have great potential and all have amazing music. Fav. Books- I'll read anything from Paper Towns to The Winter's Tale to Catcher in the Rye. Books are my passion, period. About Me- I'm 20 years old, I attend community college but hope to transfer soon to a larger four year college. I'm majoring in English and my education is the most important thing to me. I love doing new and exciting things. I'll do anything from explore abandoned buildings, sneak onto construction sites to be the first to skinny dip in the new high-rise apartment pool to fork someone's yard in the middle of the night. While my education is the most important thing to me, having fun is more important. Living life to the fullest and never looking back. People look down on me for not having a job and for having pure fun. But I ask: what's so wrong about it? Nothing. I'm merely taking advantage of my life while I can and no one is going to stop me. Anyway. I also write. I don't really write fanfiction but I do write my own fiction. I love reading. I long for the days when I can write all day, everyday. But I can't--college has me in it's grasp and it's the most frustrating thing ever as far as pent up creative juices go. Cause they don't go anywhere. Ugh. Anyway. Stories: Non Somnium- It roughly translates to "Not a Dream". I'm terrible at titles and since I couldn't think of something, I just translated simple words into Latin until I found something interesting looking. I got the idea of this story from all the many self-insertion stories that have been written in the past. I ran into some good ones and some bad ones. The bad ones are what prompted me to imagine a character of my own creation and how I would use that character to make every situation better (or worse depending on what it is). And well...the good ones were what inspired me period. But, as I've said in an authors note in chapter 2 of the story, the problem I have with most of these stories is how whenever the character is pulled into The Fantasy World, they don't question their situation, they don't seem upset, they're just way too dang happy. And sure...I guess for some authors, that's cool. A character is allowed to be happy. But, a happy character from the start with no objections, no motives, no whatever is just too boring and too flat. Before I started writing/posting this story, I sat down and thought about what I wanted my character to be like and what I wanted her to do. I knew she was a girl, I knew she had blond hair, and I knew she was of the cynical type. But I needed to give my character life. My writing mentor taught me to make character charts outlining a character's personality, motives, fears/strengths/weaknesses/everything. So I did that. I did that a lot, until I knew everything about her. I know everything about Mandy and I use that to make the story as realistic (haha, there's that word...) as possible--mentally, socially, emotionally, whatever. Writing Mandy is a lot of fun. And I promise she's not a carbon copy of me. So yea. That's Mandy in a nutshell. I'm looking forward to writing and finishing the rest of this story. I'm hoping in later chapters to expand on Mandy's views on life and the relationships she has with people. Remember, she says in the first chapter that there are few things in life she enjoys--that's going to change. But, as with every story, the road to change is never easy and Mandy might have a rough time with it. But we'll see what happens. "Lord, what fools these mortals be!" |
