There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke off. "I ought not to let my mind wander. It's too small to be out on its own." - Danilo Thann. My growing pet peeve in fanfiction: People! Breath is the noun. Breathe is the verb. They are not interchangable! A few notes on my Marvel headcanon. I try to keep it canon-compliant. It's kinda my thing. I figure I love this stuff for a reason, so no need to change it. I'm sure I'll eventually get whacked with the canon hammer, but until then, I don't really consider this an alternate universe. Currently, the stories in the series are Out in the Cold, SHIELD Origins: Hawkeye Part I, and SHIELD Origins: Hawkeye Part II. The jury is still out on whether or not I'm going to call A Pretty Good Punch, Wake Up Call, and A Strange Sort of Family a part of it. Those ones stand alone quite a bit more easily, but my canon-compliance policy means that they can fit in, if need be. I absolutely adore Hawkeye in both the movies and the comics. As a result, I keep making references back to the comics. If you know them, you'll probably see them. But if not, then they shouldn't get in the way. The most overt ones are probably in Out in the Cold, especially if you've read the Matt Fraction run, but SHIELD Origins: Hawkeye has quite a few old skool comics references. I also try to avoid finality with characters that I think the MCU might use in future movies. For instance, if there ever is a Hawkeye movie, odds are good they'll include Trickshot (either one) or Swordsman. So I sort of leave their final fates in question. Others are slightly more defined, such as Fixer and Rigby Fallon, but still open-ended since they are the sorts of characters that still might show up in the MCU. And then there are the ones that I rather feel like they'll never use, like Superia. No holds barred, there. And one special note for Out in the Cold. Yes, I know Mockingbird was on the Iliad shortly after CA:TWS. I have plot bunnies as to how she got from DC to the Iliad simmering in my brain to reconcile this. But trust me, it works. |
