If you told me four years ago that I would be reading or writing fanfic of any sort I would have laughed in your face. Now I'm having so much fun in the Tolkien fandom I'm wondering why I didn't start sooner.

I tried my hand at drawing and painting some time after I started writing. My Silmarillion fanart is on deviantArt under the pseud annamare. I was much shyer about my fanfic art, so it's on deviantArt under a separate pseud, alystraea, which is now also going to be for practice pieces and sketches and misc stuff. (Ironically, although I started drawing to create thumbnails for my stories here, I haven't been doing a lot of art for my fanfic at all! Maybe when I get better at it...)

The best thing about this whole experience has been the other readers and writers here. In the years before the Peter Jackson movies I was a very lonely little Tolkien nerd, and gave it up for serious, real-life stuff like major exams and a family and a job. Discovering there's this whole fandom has been so much fun! And since not a single person in my real life is into Tolkien, it has been absolutely wonderful meeting other people as insanely invested in elves as me!!

Real life being tough enough as it is, I like to keep things sweet and light and kinda sappy in my fic. I won't do smut or slash or gore. My departures from canon are tame, and I'm bookverse more than movieverse.
