This was brilliant! Hilarious but also touching and very well-written. My favourite scene is definitely Penny trying to fight Galadriel's mind-reading powers with Bohemian Rhapsody (although the "All Hell Breaks Loose" chapter is a close second)! I also loved how you incorporated the language barrier - including the hobbits' actual names, as well as being realistic about the messier aspects of life in Middle Earth. Le hannon!

Here I am in 2020, with your work almost two decades old and myself nearly the same. I cried and laughed, sometimes at the same time all through this. I loved the concept, the execution was amazing, and as a big Tolkien fan myself, the attention to detail was superb. Thank you. And now, on to the sequel!

In the first few chapters I absolutely hated her. But now.. shes growing on me.

I'm actually quite pleased with myself. I made it to chapter 11. But I'll have to stop there. For someone so unaware and clueless she sure is somehow all knowing. I can not for the life of me tolerate this girl

I don’t remember if I’ve reviewed this story before or not, and I can’t find anywhere to see reviews that you’ve left before, so...I’ll just put this here. _’ Sorry if I’ve already left a review.

These two fics—this and the sequel—are BY FAR my favorite fanfics that I have ever had the pleasure to read. I go back and reread them every so often, just as I do with all my favorite books! In fact, I think I’ve read Penny’s story more times than the actual Tolkien books, now. No offense to the Man himself. ;)

Your storytelling is impeccable. These fics never fail to make me laugh or tear up, and they’re so well-researched that I am in awe of you every time I read them. I’ve found myself writing self-insert fics in my head: the only time I’ve ever had the urge to write a fic of a fic! (Yes, I know, self-inserts are cringey, but they’re also terribly fun to imagine.)

So, essentially, I just wanted to tell you (possibly for the second time?) that Penny’s story is my absolute favorite one on this site, and that I really, greatly appreciate the massive amounts of time, effort, research, and creativity you put into it. Anytime someone asks me for a LOTR fic rec I give them yours. Sometimes even when they don’t ask. I know it’s been ages since these were posted, but I just wanted to say, from the bottom of my heart... thank you for writing them!
