Skye once thought that she would hate Grant Ward forever. But time has a way of changing things, even hate.

After working together with the team in the Arctic, Ward finds himself helping out SHIELD on a regular basis. When he signs up to infiltrate another Hydra base and things go as wrong as they can get, he is forced to lay open what he fears most: the past and his own weakness. Only Coulson's team is able to help him and they have yet to decide if they want to save a branded traitor.

Sometimes the vignettes share themes, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they're pleasant, sometimes they're not. Different circumstances make different people who then make different circumstances. And Fitz is a fussy baby.

Coulson learns new information about Ward's recruitment. Meanwhile, assets calling themselves the Cursed Soldiers take a base from Hydra and offer it to SHIELD.

Ward was last seen by the team being led away by the military. When Skye unexpectedly runs into him, she learns that Colonel Talbot had been loath to waste the specialist' talents. Skye is forced to become Ward's mission control as Talbot and Coulson decide to work together, and is quick to realise that Ward's sweet parole deal is much darker than he lets everybody know.

After they crash in the Canadian mountains, Ward must get an injured Skye to Providence. The fact that he is an enemy of SHIELD is of little importance in the face of hypothermia threatening to set in.
