I first read Gone with the Wind when my late aunt gave it to me for my fourteenth birthday. While I'd read many books before it, and have read hundreds more since, none have ever quite had the effect on me that this did. I fell in love with it instantly, read it non-stop for four days and suffered my first real heartbreak when I finally got to the end, fully expecting a happy ever after, only to receive the total opposite. While I love Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable in the film, I do wish they'd do a remake (I know, blasphemous!), as I'd love to see a modern take on their fiery relationship.

I'd always longed to see the book written from Rhett's perspective, but after reading Rhett Butler's People I was so underwhelmed and annoyed by the portrayal of my favourite literary hero that I instantly wanted to rewrite it! Since finding this site I've been overwhelmed by the brilliant depictions of Scarlett and Rhett that it contains and have finally plucked up the courage to contribute my own in the hope that they won't fall too far short in comparison.

One day I hope to write a book that will steal other people's hearts just as Gone with the Wind stole mine.
