marygmurphy64 chapter 1 . 6/16 Of your three GWTW stories, the most successful! Characters are well developed and plot well developed and cohesive. The source material is a favorite of mine and I love a happy ending. |
magnolia1717 chapter 15 . 6/4 Great story but I always want to know about the baby-what sex etc..Like with Bonnie I want Rhett walking the 't you add another chapter? |
starlite22 chapter 15 . 5/27 Would have loved to have know if she had twins, if they did sell her mills and his half of the hoar house. Hope you wrote again some day. |
Gemma96 chapter 15 . 4/15 I've just discovered this story! What a hidden gem. I've enjoyed this so much and you write beautifully! |
Marilyn1000 chapter 15 . 10/14/2019 Great story |
Guest chapter 15 . 9/11/2019 Oh Rhett, what you dont know. So happy to read this fic, and i absolutely loved the idea of Rhett going to Tara. I always though that MM should have gave us a scene! |
romabeachgirl chapter 15 . 9/2/2019 Let me start by saying how grateful I am that you finished this story. There are too many (with potential) in this fandom that have been abandoned. The conversation with Belle wasn't exactly what I was expecting. It just felt unresolved. I did like how you kept the ending of this story open so the reader can imagine what happened the next day, the following year. It's been three and a half years since your "retirement" from writing, but I hope that it's not a permanent departure and that someday you will return to share beautifully written stories with us. Thank you for sharing your talents and your stories with us. |
romabeachgirl chapter 14 . 9/2/2019 I thought this was a lovely chapter. When a story winds down, it's natural for a story (and author) to feel lost because much of the angst (especially with Rhett and Scarlett) is gone. I found Scarlett's embarrassment a bit strange, but I realize that in Atlanta she was always being judged and talked about. I look forward to her revealing her thoughts about baby Butler and I can't wait to see what you have in store for Belle. |
romabeachgirl chapter 13 . 9/2/2019 I can imagine that residing under the same roof as Suellen would be a drawback for Rhett, especially as he and Scarlett reignite their relationship. I always wondered how Rhett and Beatrice T. would have gotten on and I also wish MM had written a scene between Rhett and Will. The awkwardness upon their return to Atlanta is very believable. They've both been on their best behavior at Tara and now they've returned to a house filled with less than happy memories and a town with Belle and Ashley. I wonder if both are thinking the same thing: will this bubble of bliss burst? |
romabeachgirl chapter 12 . 9/2/2019 I was immensely satisfied watching Rhett NOT get what he wants, when he wants it, in this chapter. Bonnie is indeed spoiled, but Rhett encouraged it, and it bit him in the ass finally. I have to admit that I never liked the way Rhett "used" Bonnie as a replacement for Scarlett in his marriage. It merely drove the wedge deeper. Bonnie was his daughter, Scarlett was his wife. Big difference. I'm happy Rhett finally saw the error of his previous choices. As for Scarlett, sometimes we don't see what's right in front of us but she was absolutely blind when it came to Rhett. It's sad that a sixteen, twenty, twenty-five year old girl had no real guidance. I get that she's supposed to be representative of the new south but sometimes gumption only gets you so far... Lovely chapter! |
romabeachgirl chapter 11 . 9/1/2019 This chapter was so good that I simply got lost in it. I forgot that I was reading fanfiction. Your dialogue and descriptions flow perfectly. I think that this conversation was perfectly placed and that some time needed to pass before it could happen. Neither one of them would have been ready the next day. I truly believe that Tara is a perfect setting as it gives them both a place to think without the presence of Ashley or an escape to Belle's. I love how much Will and Rhett have in common, despite their differences. Marrying an O'Hara sister must be a bonding experience. Loved the quips about Suellen and the monstrosity. |
romabeachgirl chapter 10 . 9/1/2019 Rhett going to Tara means that there is nowhere to escape to. They are both going to have to talk to each other at some point. Stubborn, confused mules! What I love about fan fiction, when its done properly, is that we get glimpses into the every day lives of Scarlett and Rhett. We never got enough interaction with the children or the "boring" parts of their marriage (like that period between the miscarriage and Bonnie's death). I love the discussion surrounding Bonnie and that Rhett has to think about his role in his daughter's behaviors. |
romabeachgirl chapter 9 . 9/1/2019 I have to be honest and admit that I don't understand Melanie fully. It's not her place not would she interfere but a few words to both Rhett and Scarlett would have altered everything. There are moments where I wonder why she didn't say anything. Did she truly not understand or did she hold back purposefully? Either way, I thought the conversation between her and Rhett was revealing and necessary. I definitely think she could be that forward when it was required. I also feel that Rhett's appearance at Tara (which I just don't believe actually happened in canon) is an essential step for Rhett to understand Scarlett. I too think Rhett and Will would have gotten along. Being married to O'Hara sisters is a remarkable similarity. They can commiserate with each other like no one else. |
romabeachgirl chapter 8 . 9/1/2019 The exchange between Rhett and Scarlett on the ride home from dinner actually made me cringe. Rhett digs himself into a massive hole as he tries to gain the upper hand. It's no wonder Scarlett is pissed. Neither one of them remotely understands how to interact with people and therefore, their relationship feels damned. I have zero problem with Scarlett taking all three children to Tara to regroup because she knows Rhett will come to her. I feel like she has the upper hand in this story as she is aware of Rhett's feelings. In canon maybe Scarlett should/could have followed Rhett and Bonnie. Was it a failed plot device? I hope yours works to show Rhett what an ass he's being. |
romabeachgirl chapter 7 . 9/1/2019 Because we get so little background and insight on both Ashley and Rhett, one has to wonder how they would interact. We see both men through Scarlett's eyes, and she is notoriously incorrect in understanding people's actions and motivations. That said, we could ALL be incorrect in how we write these characters because we are not MM. We could also be over-analyzing them, as well. The truth is that fan fiction is meant to tell a story, and you are doing it beautifully. I enjoyed the fight between Ashley and Rhett. I think that both men held back, but it was a believable interaction. I also like the awkwardness of the dinner and Rhett realizing how he has let Scarlett down. |
