If you see me around in your review section, you tend to see my long posts. I believe that people should be rewarded for their work with constructive criticism, detailing what I like and don't like. It's because I want to help out others and make them better. I'm not one for criticising grammar and punctuation because I have a flaw of that, but I have a knack for progression, in-character details and amongst other things. Another thing is... I would like the same in return. I have a fanfiction of my own and I believe that if I review others, then it gives them a chance to review my stuff back. Equivalent Exchange. You are not obligated to review back because I want you to choose to. But I would really appreciate it.

As it goes, we are kinda a community. It's only ideal to help each other out.

My stance on Edd and Marie. Why I like the shipping, yet hate most shipping fiction:

It is something that does crop up in my time. As of this moment, I had a couple reviews on my work: KevEdd! Trapped in Their Own Home! It mentioned that EddxMarie does not work because of the harassment and how utterly despicable Marie can be. When you watch the cartoons, there is no two ways around it. Marie is the second most despicable character behind Eddy's brother.

Yet I love Marie because of these traits that appeal to me. She's devious. She's conniving. She's street smart. But as others have said, and I'm going to quote BarthVader, the Kankers never had any development. Now you can argue that no EEnE characters had any development, but I disagree. All the male characters have got substantial development. We know a lot about the Eds. We sat through Rolf's stories about 'old country'. We know about Kevin, Jimmy and Jonny 2x4. In terms of females characters, Sarah got the most substantial development and even that pales in comparison, because it's through the development of Ed. Nazz is the girl next door with her development being relegated to the background (such as her Dutch/German origin) and the Kankers are the evil succubus from that trailer park.

Put it simply, the Kankers is ripe for development. And I want to develop Marie and put those two in a shipping. Why? I would say 'fuck it, reasons', but I have some reasons.

Edd is an odd choice for Marie. Eddy and Ed have some compatibility with Lee and May, yet I struggle to understand why Marie chose Edd. Some people took that route to write Marie as the 'poor, misunderstood soul'. I dislike that route because it is the easy way out. So I started to come to the harsh conclusion. Marie picked Edd because of her naive dreams. Marie picked Edd because she would be 'set for life'. Yes, I went there. Marie is a Gold Digger.

So I want to press on with the cold harsh truth and try to dismantle it. To make Marie's character better. In other words, I want her to fall so hard, so I can rebuild her. I still want those traits that appeal to me, but it would be repackaged as a 'troll personality'. She's friendly with everyone, but if there is a chance for harmless fun, she will take it.

I don't like most shipping fanfiction because they don't take their time to understand why the dynamic works or can work. All stories have a three act structure. You have a beginning, middle and end. Most shippers forget there is a middle. It is like a chef that has the ingredients and wants to make that meal, yet forget to prepare and cook it.

Or rather...

TL;DR: I support EddxMarie because I can write that shit and have shipper haters go "That actually works". But I can be criticised for grammar and tenses because I suck at it.

My stance on shipping and slash

It would be a hypocritical opinion to say that shipping sucks and no one should do it. I am a shipper myself, so I believe it does work. But I am going to say that most shipping sucks regardless and that those who pander to the ignorance on shipping should have their account revoked. This is because that when fans do couple up their favourite characters, it does not take into account the media it is based on. The established characters, events and canon lore are shat on when fans write their favourite couple.

I do not mean to say that shipping cannot work nor I am an authoritative on the subject. But I can pass on some advice on the subject.

You watched your favourite cartoon and you may thought that the male character and female character of the show suit each other and should fall in love. You'd most likely have thought about writing your own stories and publish it on the Internet. And you have most likely said "I love this show. These two characters should be together. I have Microsoft Word. I'M GONNA MAKE A STORY AND IT'S GONNA BE AWESOME".

Nope, you are not ready yet. Not until you read through these bullet points.

Now if your read through all this and have avoided these traps, then you are ready. Write your shipping fanfic to your heart contents!
