![]() Author has written 8 stories for Labyrinth, Teen Titans, Following, Fullmetal Alchemist, NCIS, Vampire Knight, Star Wars, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Writing isn’t just a thing we do in our lives. It is a part of our lives written down on paper. It isn’t just something that people do. It is an art form. It isn’t just supposed to put focus on one part of life. It is to highlight various parts of life. To me, writing is so much more than just sitting down and writing out a story, a poem, or just a manuscript. It is a bringing together of complex ideas and expressing them through words. To me, a good writer is a person who doesn’t just follow all the grammar rules and makes sure to proofread what they put into something. To me, a good writer puts a part of themselves into everything they write, whether what they’re putting into it is emotion, a part of their character, or something that they wish they could do but because of life, are not able to do it. The reason I think that makes a good writer is because unless you put your heart and soul into something as a writer, it is very hard to give it that spark and flare that will keep readers engaged and interested in the work. Like many other things, such as teaching or sports, writing stories is only successful to me when the writer’s own excitement and emotions for something they’ve just written ebbs into the reader and excites them as well. And if you don’t put your heart and soul into it, you lose a great amount of ability to produce such an effect. Despite the fact that all writing requires a part of the writer to have a spark, not all writers write the same. To me, each writer has their own style and their own method of doing things. Some writers are highly descriptive of their characters that they create and the environments that said characters find themselves in. Other writers focus more on the internal emotions of the characters, and that forms the great amount of “scenery” in the manuscript. Still, other writers focus more on action and words spoken, and let that guide the story, allowing the readers to create the environment in their own minds. Some writers use a lot of hidden symbolism and foreshadowing in their stories, causing the reader to strive to understand what all is really going on, while others just state things out in the open, and the reader only needs to read to know what’s going on. Writers can do one of these afore mentioned things, or they can do combinations of them in their writing. For each writer, there is a slight variation, or a unique flare and signature to their writing style. Much like the artists who paint beautiful scenes on canvases, each writer is different and brings their own mark to the art. And while not every reader likes every single writing style, it is important to understand that despite the fact that one writer may not like another’s style it is vital to understand that despite being of a different style, not one form of writing is better than another, because much like art, writing can’t really have its quality gaged along such parameters. To me, the worst writer is the one who doesn’t allow themselves to let their own style show, who tailor to what they think the masses want. This is not to say that writers shouldn’t be open to critique. But they should be able to take that critique, and ADAPT their style to it without completely changing their writing style. So many times, people want fairy tale generic stories. In this way, many people just prefer to have the protagonist end up with the person of their dreams after only a few encounters and then for everything to be just happy. This is far from most of reality. In reality, emotions play an intertwining web within each person and within each environment that makes things so complicated that to have a fairy tale generic story is a rarity if not impossible. This is not to say that people can’t be happy. However, happy endings are not always what really happen, and in a good story (to me), obstacles must be overcome, faults must be recognized, and along with the good side of things, the dark side must also be shown. To me, showing only one leaves a story half empty, and having both forms a full story. And this full story is full of emotion, full of information, and full of a version of reality that each reader can somehow relate to. With this mindset, it can be said that while good stories are certainly good to read and write about, there is also a need for the less glamorous parts of reality to be shown. In this way, to the reader who is dealing with issues that are the less glamorous part of reality, the stories show that, while they may be based off of fiction, there is someone out there who understands the hardships of life, and therefore, is able to write it out. So not only is it vital to show the darker side of life to make stories seem more “real”, but it is also vital for those reading the stories who might be going through hard times to understand that they’re not as alone as they once thought they were. This kind of story can be very emotionally taxing on the writer, and therefore, to be able to form stories that show to the public issues within our society is truly a remarkable feat. In other words, writing can be happy, it can be sad. It can be of a certain style, or it can be of another style. It can be based in reality, it can be based in far away. But in the end, to me, a good piece of literature and fiction must be something that an author puts their heart and soul and best effort in. It doesn’t need to be just a fling. It needs to be something full of emotion, full of pride, and full of heart. As for me, I put a lot of effort into my stories. Each one of my characters represents in their own unique way a part of myself, a part of my dreams. They are considered by me as my "brainchildren", formed out of my mind and imagination and put into words and shared with the world around me. Sure, they may have their faults, but in the end, they are something I am very proud of. I started writing when I was approximately 8 years old. My first writing was of the fanfiction variety, in that in anything I saw or read, I could always create my own original character or my own different twist. I would act it out physically in my yard, or I would write it down in a way that other people and myself could understand later. Or both. In my mind, everyone is different and full of complex emotions. I am not an exception to this rule. There are many different sides to me: I can be sad, I can be angry, I can be happy and cheerful, I can be quiet and thoughtful. My stories are a grand climatic gathering of all of these emotions coming together into a beautiful symphony of all of the themes in my life swirling together. As a result, my stories can be happy, they can be sad, they can be active, they can be more focused on emotion. As a writer, I like to set up environments and descriptions to the best of my abilities so that the reader, while they can use their imagination on a select number of things, can also know vital parts of the environment important for the message I wish to get across. I also love symbolism and foreshadowing, and like to have a sense of nature in my stories, at least in some form. I think that many people can figure out who they are and things about themselves by being out in nature. The characters in my stories are no exception. I primarily read Fanfiction for Harry Potter, Teen Titans, Phantom Stallion, Drake and Josh, Young Justice, and Labyrinth. :) And I primarily will right Fanfiction for Teen Titans, Phantom Stallion, and Labyrinth. I encourage reviews and constructive criticism, because I know that without such things, I can not hope to better myself as a writer. Not by much, anyway. So please, review my work!!!! :) (just no flamers, alright? as I said, each writer has their own art form. I am no exception) I encourage also private messaging to me about anything you might want to say but not in a review. Just no flamers, alright? For those of you who don't know, I consider "flamers" to be people who are "unhelpful critics". In other words, people who will state various things they see wrong with the way I write or the story lines I make but who will either not say how I should try to correct such issues, or will not offer a reason for not liking it, or both. I make a promise that I will try hard to try to keep updates regular, but seeing as I am merely a college student with various responsibilities that go along with that role in my life, I must say that sometimes I will be unable to hold true to regular updates. However, I will try very hard, as I said, and pray that my stories are to your satisfaction. I also make an effort with each chapter I write to proofread it twice before posting it, and to read it aloud a s I proofread it to look for any possible corrections that need to be made. While I will be posting most of my stories here, there are also other things that I do in relation to my stories that are not posted here. These can include cosplays I might make for some of my characters, or small drabbles that don't end up posted here, or just things that are "story-related" but not to the point of being posted on this page. If you want to see any such work that I might not post here, here's another link to a page I have (my Livejournal) And here is my deviant art page! For more of my creations! |
