I'm an Israeli girl (do I still get to call myself that at 29?) who used to write a lot of fanfiction. My first fandom was naturally Harry Potter, somewhere around 2001-2002, and my first few attempts were all Mary Sues and self insertions. Some of the things on this profile are only still here because I cannot bring myself to delete them completely. As the years went by and I matured, so did my writing. The better stories are probably the shorter ones - a one point, probably after attempting NaNoWriMo and only managing 20,000 words before my inspiration dried up completely - I discovered that 100-word drabbles were my passion. I posted multiple drabble series in most of my favorite fandoms: Harry Potter, Gravitation, Tsubasa Chronicle, Fullmetal Alchemist. The shorter format allowed me to be creative and to practice the less is more school of thought. A rare gem of a longer fic came with the TV series Glee, which somehow inspired me to write longer, character-driven stories. I actually finished a whole 13-chapter, 40,000-word long story, and a sequel to boot, though I never got around to posting the second half of the sequel. Somewhere around 2012 Real Life kind of took over, and I guess I grew out of the habit of writing. Only occasional drabbles came through. Recently I've rewatched the anime which led to my longest-running drabble series, Gravitation, and after rewatching it I also reread all the drabbles I'd written. I guess it might be egotistical, but I sort of inspired myself. I tentatively tried to write a new 100-word drabble - and it flowed right out of me and onto the screen as if I'd never stopped writing. So, I guess you never know :) ~Nini |
