Author has written 16 stories for Bleach. I'm baaack!!! (today is December 9th, 2015. I've been gone for almost a year, and I've missed you all.) I am a writer in real life. In fact, writing Bleach fan fiction right here gave me enough practice, and you all gave me enough encouragement and feedback, to strike out on my own. Thus, I have several books out, and more are in the works. Since some of my "original character" books are inspired by my fan fiction, I post the first few chapters here, for my original fans! This is extra work: I take a book that's no longer Bleach, and characters that I have changed to make them my own, and I have to "bleach" it all over again! Yet I don't mind spending the time on this. Seeing Ichigo and Grimmjow, Renji and Byakuya, or Shuuhei and Kensei get in trouble all over again puts a smile on my face. I hope it puts a smile on yours, too. New releases: "Sire," a companion book to "Broken Gait," both published by Dreamspinner Press (I love working with them, BTW.) Brent (Yumichika) is 17, has issues with his father (Kenpachi), misses his brother who's in college (Ikkaku), and has discovered kissing a boy is way more fun than kissing a girl. That, and his desire to train horses like his uncle (Byakuya) and his partner (Renji) seriously upsets his dad's apple cart. His dad figures the boys will be lawyers, just like him. Good luck with that. This book addresses communication, family, coming out, suicidal thoughts, and how little gestures of support from family and friends can make a difference in the end. GREAT NEWS! "Broken Gait," A story of (Byakuya) coming to terms with his Autistic Spectrum Disorder and (Renji) helping him cope while a favorite horse goes lame after a show, received a "Honorable Mention" in the 2015 Rainbow Awards book competition. I've never won anything literary before, and I feel extra honored because the other honorable mentions were for books I really liked. Upcoming releases: SwimBikeRun is now a trilogy and longer than the original, unfinished fan fic. Book 1, "Treading Water," is available on Amazon, AllRomanceEbooks, B&N, Kobo, and Smashwords. I'm reviewing final edits for book 2, "Riding Hard," and it will be out before the New Year's. There are some other books I'm writing or editing, but they have no relation to what we are doing here. I also have a blog that comes out on Thursdays, called "Thursday Morning Coffee Blog." Very imaginative, I know. If you are interested, visit my web page at W W W (dot) katepavelle (dot) C O M In the works Going through my files, I found some old fan fiction I never published, so I did that and it was a lot of fun. Then I got to read my old fan fic "Repatriation." It's time to finish it, I think. And there might be a new, canon ByaRen coming out, too! Writing these guys makes me happy. It's like a cool vacation from worrying whether a book will sell or not. All of you, your likes and comments, it's a balm on my bruised soul right now. Thank you for being here and reading and caring. Also, I'm planning a sequel to Breakfall, but it will feature Don (Kensei) and Adrian (Shuuhei). They are an established, married couple in Breakfall. Don's law case takes an ugly turn and there will be bad guys, shooting, and bloodshed. Let's see how Adrian pulls it all together and picks up the pieces! Already published stuff - and how to get it: My books are published under the name "Kate Pavelle" and are available on Amazon, Kobo, Barns&Noble, and AllRomanceEbooks. You can get most of them at the Dreamspinner Press website. Just search under Author, and they will pop up. If you don't want to buy a book, ask your library to get one. Seriously, they will! Either through an interlibrary loan, or you might entice them to actually buy a copy. So - here is what's out there already: Dreamspinner Press "Wild Horses" (former ByaRen) Kai stole a phone right form Attila's pocket - but Attila texted him, appealing to his better qualities. The rest is history. "Broken Gait" (sequel to WH, Attila has what used to be known as Asperger's and really struggles with his social anxiety. Kai is there to help.) "Zipper Fall" (former GrimmIchi "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", where Ichi is a cat burglar and burgles Grimmjow - oops!) Jack Azzuri and Wyatt Gaudens, new characters. "Breakfall" (former GrimmIchi, based on what really happened to me years ago. The guys are martial arts instructors, but Sean gets attacked in his sleep and then stalked by a serial offender. Asbjorn, a tough classmate skilled in karate, is there to help - except he's not allowed to help, which drives him crazy. This is Sean's fight, all the way.) "Sire", Brent (Yumichika) is 17 and has coming of age as well as coming out issues. Plus father issues, but when your dad is Kenpachi and your favorite gay uncle is Attila, you have to expect a bit of tension! BREAK FALL is now the Fall Trilogy, and is in print: 1. Breakfall Former Grimm/Ichi, where both are martial arts instructors at MIT in Boston. Ichi gets sexually assaulted and plays bait to catch the perp. Grimm goes all protective, and it's so hard for him to let Ichi do his thing and cooperate with the police. True love. 2. Swordfall Alas, the perp breaks out of jail. Grimm decides to perform a "corrective action" where the system failed - but will he be able to deal with the consequences? 3. Landfall The guys have been together for 2 years and they need a vacation. Who knew they end up marooned on a tropical island over spring break, relying on their wits to survive? Smugglers, storms, a washed-up dead body. Also, it took getting stuck alone on a little island to actually get them talking about the intimate, important parts of life. Shuuhei/Kensei play a big part in this one. "Flux" submitted to a publisher, let's see if they like the story of a glass workers and a college-educated QC guy in a glass factory. Not based on any fandoms, all original. Mugen Press "Cancelled Czech Files - On the Run" - an adventure-memoir. True story. I was 13 and our family left on a secret vacation that didn't end. We were, actually, escaping from behind the Iron Curtain. Homeless refugees in a foreign country, later adapting to our life in the US. Coming out January 31st 2015! "Kickass Anthology" - an illustrated collection of stories featuring a smaller, weaker LGBT character who uses wit, grit, and guile to subdue an overwhelming opponent or impossible odds. This book is a volunteer effort by all writers, and all proceeds benefit gay romance writer Eric Arvin, who finds himself (hopefully temporarily) paralyzed after a brain surgery. Even though he has a long road ahead of him as he trains his body to obey his commands again, Eric didn't lose his sharp wit and scathing humor. Buying this anthology will help him buy high-tech devices to speed up his recovery. Came out December 11th, 2014! And will be coming out in Spanish, too! "Strawberries in the Snow" - a Christmas love story. Realizing he's gay cost him his family - but all is well as long as his daughter is rooting for him, and encouraging him to start dating again. Sweet. "Treading Water." Book 1 of SwimBikeRun, described above. Have a great winter, everyone. I'll try to be around more, mostly because you're nice enough to leave "I miss you" notes in your reviews ;-) ichibanseiken/Kate |
