The Tides of Time

I am currently writing a Doctor Who/Stargate SG1 crossover taking place after the fall of the Goa'uld. One of the few remaining system lords seeks the Doctor and SG1 for help with a problem that threatens the universe. I tried to view the team's first meeting with the Doctor from a military point of view so they aren't so friendly at first. I prefered SG1 when the Goa'uld were the enemy. So, although this is set some time during the tenth season, the Ori do get a mention as the main bady in the current timeline, but they don't get a role in this story. I will be posting updates as I write them.

Update:Been offline until recently. Even so, I have painted myself into a corner with this story and am holding back until I know what I want to do with it.

Along the Other Road

I am also working on a Harry Potter fanfic. I'm sure plenty of people have wondered (and written) about the fate of Dudley Dursley after the Deathly Hallows. Well, I've got my own take and it involves a witchy love interest for Dudley, much the chagrin of his magic hating parents, and a swash buckling alchemist who likes his spirits a bit too much. Dudley, who has been a coward and bully all of his life will find the chance to be the hero that he has always wanted to be and make penance for a lifetime ignorance.

No haven't abandoned this story. My muse just isn't singing this one lately.

Common Ground

My big problem with The Tides of Time is that I just can't connect with the Doctor's companions. The only ones I feel I can really write are Sarah Jane Smith, Susan Foreman, Ace, Perpigilian Brown, and Adric. Unfortunately, Sarah Jane is the only one who has met Ten, and she doesn't exactly travel with him. When writing Common Ground, I made another attempt with Rose. I finally decided that I needed a companion who could be a bit of my mea culpa. Common Ground was one of those stories that wouldn't leave me alone. I am writing my books and my own characters and my own creations and my own worlds. I shouldn't be spending my time on fanfic, and yet this story calls out. Is it really so important that I create a new travelling companion for the Doctor, for future fanfics that I may or may not write? You better believe it, and I hope you like Phoebe.

Finished with this story and moving on to a sequel:

The Island of Bones

This obviously is the next adventure of the Doctor and Phoebe and what really inspired this story was the death of my wife. My wife was a paranormal investigator with an obsession with Key West, which from it's earliest history has been known as the Island of Bones. So of course, this tale includes none other than Ernest Hemingway as a supporting character and the villian is none other than the famed Robert the Doll. As I was writing this, my muse started singing about one of the earliest fan fics I ever dreamed up, which is:

Child's Play

Since the original Stargate starring Kurt Russel and James Spader came out, this one has teased me, about a young girl with an abnormally brilliant mind coming to Earth and paving the way for her tribal people to rise up against the system lords. Even as early as my first imaginings, I imagined a careless young girl brilliant enough to discover the workings of an alien spacecraft, coming to Earth, falling in love, and finding a home she never imagined. Those elements remain strong in Child's Play, and though I had trouble deciding on a title, since I really didn't want to call it Child's Play, it has proven an appropriate title, because ever task to my young star, Aylala, is child's play. Aylala has become the basis for another character I'm writing in an original story I'm writing that takes place in the distant future. The same desire for understanding and a place to belong will prevade just as strongly as it does here.

Once you're done with these, check out a couple of my completed works, both of them personal favorites.

The Price of Beauty

I was momentarily inspired to write the tale of the Doctor before he became the Doctor and this story was the result. It wasn't exactly what I planned, having expected Thete to become the Doctor at the end of the story, but I love this story. It has a classicly Doctor Who monster in the Chronovores and when I went back and read by itself, I was struck by just how much of a throwback to classic Who this story ended up being. Also, I was charmed by the idea of the Master and the Rani starting a makeup business and using it to poison their customers. Actually, the only thing that went according to plan was the epilogue. Please don't pass this up just because it's the first Doctor or because my late wife's passion for fashion translated into a large portion of it. It really is worth the read.

The Alchemist and the Altamere

Yes, I am a 32-year-old man writing a W. I. T. C. H. fic. There were actually a lot of things that inspired this. Obviously, the episode S is for Self, as well as the comic book arc in which the girls' astral drops rebel, played a significant role, but what actually started the gears turning was Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, that I purchased some years back on DVD. I had recently discovered W. I. T. C. H. on the Disney channel (I came in on a sequence in which Blunk was helping Caleb break into Phobos' castle. By the time it got to the fact that the show was about five girls dressed as fairies, that was entirely beside the point. I was hooked and I thought these girls were great. The Alchemist and the Altamere went through dozens of permutations. From the beginning, there was always going to be two Wills, one good and one evil, but the changes this story went through were dramatic (at one point, the Alchemist was to have entirely conquered the Earth, Kandrakar, and the Infinite Realms, and all of their families found out about the Guardians, leaving Will in shambles and forcing the girls to find a way to inspire her to face herself. Actually, I'm still toying with that storyline.). Interestingly, for all of the Doctor Who and Star Trek I write, this one has easily ended up my most people with dozens of people favoriting it and more doing so at least once a week.

Finally, I wrote a few Star Trek shorts years ago and recently pulled them off of my old FF account and put them here. Give them a look. They were fairly well received in their day.
