![]() Author has written 7 stories for Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal, Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Mysteries, and True Blood. Welcome to my FanFiction page! Pen name: Demeter1973 Age: Young-ish Gender: Female Location: Nashville, Tennessee Day jobs: Scientist (no, I don't want to take over the world, Pinkie) Mama (the job I am not paid to perform, but which has its own rewards) Teacher (as far as my grad students are concerned, it's a lot like parenting with pay) Hobbies: I DO love to write for fun now, and it's much cheaper than some of my other hobbies (travel and online shopping) and much cheaper than therapy. I do write for a living, but outside of my particular field of study, my grants and scientific manuscripts are a bit dull. Lucky for me, I'm still funded in spite of that - job security for 5 more years! Hooray! I LOVE reading - can't get enough! My favorite authors (in no particular order) include: Thomas Harris (The Hannibal Lecter Series), Stephen King (especially his short stories - it's a dying art form, so thank you Mr. King for keeping it alive!), William Goldman ("The Princess Bride" is a classic! If you've only seen the movie, you're only getting half of the story :), Ariana Franklin, Mark Twain, Washington Irving, Edgar Allan Poe, Sue Monk Kidd, JK Rowling, Carl Hiassen, Anne Rivers Siddons, Charlaine Harris, Kahlil Gibran, ee cummings . . . could go on to infinity and beyond, but I digress. Adding J.L. Ward and her angsty, delicious Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. I burned through all of the books in about a month and need more! Zsadist and Rhevenge can bite me any old time! Education: 22nd grade/Piled.higher.Deeper in the field of biology; no formal training in creative writing, but I earned A's in English What I like: coffee, chocolate, '80s music, autumn breezes, spiced rum and more recently raspberry rum, sitting by a warm fire curled up with a good book or my man, turtleneck sweaters, my kids' laughter, discovery, mojitos, shopping, my students, my homegirls, love, sex, being near water, cooking, self-reliance, Stephen Colbert, John Stewart, Stephen Moyer (as an actor and as eye-candy). What I don't like: voluntary ignorance, manufactured drama, reality TV (see item#2), child predators, brussel sprouts, people who refuse to think for themselves, laundry, ironing, dishonesty, whining, FOX news, MSNBC, dirty diapers, dill, Sarah Palin (seriously, can't we just make her go away?) What I like as it pertains to fanfiction: Hannibal Lecter/Clarice Starling, Bill Compton/Sookie Stackhouse (thanks to Duffie, I can now read Sookie/Eric fics with an open mind), tasteful erotica, comedy and wit . . . Hooray! As of today, I've been writing/reading fanfiction - and lately some original fiction - for 1 year! Miscellaneous: I am relatively new at writing fanfiction. It has been a really great experience in terms of creativity, research and new reading - it takes a lot to keep up with Dr. Lecter's vast intellectual resources - and revisiting books I read a long time ago and am enjoying re-reading with fresh eyes and the lens of broader life-experience. Thanks to the good doctor and fellow fans of the Hanniverse (Hi Major!), I've expanded my music and art knowledge base as well. Also, thanks to the encouragement and free proofing/editing from some great fanfic pals like Duffie and the Major, I'm working on original fiction. I don't know if anything will come of it, but it's a lot of fun. Never fear, though - I do solemnly swear to complete fanfics once started! Update: I'm going to be published! A contemporary romance novella scheduled for release in May 2013. PM me for deets! I welcome any and all critiques and comments and thank each and every reviewer who has taken the time to read my work and respond. | |||||||
