Hello, The Cursed and Torn at your service. Considering this is a bio page, I might as well add some useless and trivial information about myself, shouldn't I?

My Age: I’m a lot older then when I first joined this site, and even older since I first started reading stories here. Let’s leave it at that, shall we?

My Gender: Irrelevant all things considered, but I’m a man if you really are that curious.

My Likes and Hobbies: Music, generally rock though I do listen to a few other things here and there. I do enjoy playing video games especially story driven ones. I love getting lost in the mythos and world of the games that I play, and getting attached to the people who live in them. I also enjoy some anime and manga, though not as much as I used too. I've recently however, rediscovered my love for One Piece, and have been following that rather closely. I've been getting a rather bleak interest in Bleach again, but I've generally lost all appeal for Naruto. I have also regained a love for Dragon Ball Z, arguably my first real anime/manga that I was exposed too.

I was an excellent artist, and went to school for it, and wanted to go into the animation field. That or concept art design work for games and comic books. Still a career I’m looking to get into, but that’s put on hold for the moment. I also haven’t drawn anything in forever, so I’m probably rusty now that I think about…

My Dislikes: People, at least in certain categories. For instance, people on Xbox Live (I own an Xbox 360), who when they find a little kid playing a game with them, will go out of their way to deliberately make them cry to make them either quit, or worse yet, take a perverse form of pleasure from making them miserable. Your scum if that’s the case, and if I happen to be in the same game, I’m going to MAKE you rage, scream, cuss me out, threaten me, before ultimately quit when you realize that your words not only have no effect on me, but worth less than the dirt I walk on. Little kids aren’t the most fun to play around; I know that, especially when they try to act older then they really are, throwing out cusses and vulgarity excessively. But their parents did not buy them a game system just to have them emotionally and verbally abused by assholes that need a cheap thrill in making a child barely in their preteens cry to feel better about themselves. Again, your scum, no matter if that’s how you regularly act or not.

I also dislike people who don’t have a valid opinion, let alone the mindset to listen to another person’s own thoughts and beliefs. If you have a thought or opinion, by all means express it, but please add reasons to the why you have this thought or belief. I hate hearing people say “just because”. It leads me to believe you don’t exercise your brain and simply like being told what to think and say rather than doing it on your own. I also would like for a person to be able to listen to another person’s opinion without being an ass about it and breaking in every few seconds with a “you’re wrong, I’m right, end of discussion” mentality. Generally, it makes a person feel invalid, which they aren’t. Everybody has a right to an opinion, to having their rights of human dignity not only acknowledged, but also respected. Aside from that, I dislike mainstream media and music, only because for the former, I find it ridiculously stupid the stuff that gets put out and gets popular compared to the things that are genuinely good, but get cancelled from lack of ratings, and for the latter, because I just don’t have the taste for it. It’s ultimately a difference of opinion and personal preference, and if given the choice, would rather listen to the music on my phone then the radio.

Other Irrelevant/Random Information: I’m antisocial, to a point anyway, and somewhat private. I like hanging out with my friends, few as they are, and if I know a person, even if only as an acquaintance, I’ll generally strike up conversation. On the other side of the same spectrum, I don’t socialize outside of those I know unless I have too; I don’t really share my thoughts or opinions all that much. Fanfiction is kind of an outlet for that. I’m also scary when I’m angry, and my friends have more than once said that they’d feel sorry for the moron who’d deliberately piss me off. In a word, I’m rather cynical, and I have my reasons for being such, and it’s only worsened in recent years. I also own a dog, a Shiba Inu. His name is Charlie. Yes, he’s named after the dog in All Dogs Go to Heaven film. No, it wasn't my idea. I wanted to call him Koto. And yes, I generally speak the way I write, a habit I got into when people around me started to speak more slang then English. I've tempered it a little, though not by much. I’m also very blunt boarding on insensitive at times. Another personality trait of mine that I’ve tempered somewhat, which relates to my lack of desire to share my thoughts with others. I also am a bit of a jokester, though my preference for what amuses me is usually rather…dark. Expect some levity in my reviews whenever I write one.

Thoughts on Fanfiction...

Slash/Yaoi/Yuri- Don’t know if I spelled that second one right or not, but I digress. I don’t write it or really read it. If there’s something relating to it in canon in whatever fanfiction I write in, I’ll allude to it, but nothing over the top or graphic in detail. In terms of reading, if the story is really good and the slash itself isn't central to the story, I can probably read it. Personally, I don’t have an issue with it; you like it or you don’t. You have an opinion to validate your reasons, fine, but don’t try and force it on somebody to change their mind. Those who preach about it being unholy or against god or something else along those lines; it happens, whether by nature or choice, it doesn't matter. It’s here and it’s not going away. Get used to it. I just dislike how it seems to be all over the place and no means of filtering. Several other fanfiction sites utilize such a filter, so I don’t know why this one doesn't If not, then I ask that the author of the story makes a note of it somewhere at the beginning of their story so people who don’t want to read it won’t, and not review and complain about it later.

Badly Written Stories- In the sense of a story lacking proper grammar, sentence structure, word use, and other tidbits from your elementary school education that should have been drilled into your head. Don’t publish it, especially if you’re unwilling to proof read it. Doesn't matter if it has a solid plot or if the idea of the story itself is interesting, if it reads like ‘hArry w3nT t0 tHe gREaT HaLlt0 CoNFr0nt thE headMasT3R A8uT hISL0sT iNheritanc3’ nobody is going to want to read it. If you don’t have the time to do so, or believe that it’s perfectly fine, have somebody else proof read it for you. There are people or are Beta-Readers on this site who would be more than happy to take a glance at your work and correct them accordingly. Fanfiction this maybe, but that’s no excuse to lower one’s expectations for a well written story. I’m not saying they way you write out your story has to appear as if it was written by a professional, but at least make it legible with as few mistakes in it as possible.

OC’s and Self-Inserts- A majority of Self-Insert and OC centered stories, or stories with an OC present seem to be a half and half deal. There are good ones out there, extraordinary ones actually, particularly in the Mass Effect section, that are so well written with interesting twists and turns in the plot that if you aren’t a fan SI’s or OC’s, you’re going to forget the reasons why and gain a taste for it. On the opposite side however, we have, which is probably the majority of people who write these stories, stories that are written clearly in a manner that fulfill the writer’s own desires and wishes. The appropriate titles I believe for these “characters” are Mary-Sues and Gary-Stues. Generally these are stories, in which an author writes themselves generally with stark improvements in comparison to their real selves, labeled as “Original Characters”, and have them more or less run amok in whatever fandom they happen to be in, more often than not hooking up with a great number of their favorite characters, typically building a “Harem” of willing lovers, most of whom are written rather badly to the point where they are a mockery to their true characterizations from their respective series’. Stories like those are in abundance, and unfortunately kills creativity in authors with OC centered stories. Not from the stories themselves, but from more “seasoned” writers/reviewers who more or less dictate how an OC’s should act. I’ve seen more than a few OC centered stories with potential shrivel up and die from complaints that a original character is too ‘overpowered’, intended or not, or that they seem to be replacing the main hero/heroine by “stealing” battles that they fought in and won. Enough reviews of browbeating them with one’s own personal ideals and expectations of their story and telling them that “they’re doing it wrong” or risking their “OC’s turning into unlikeable Mary-Sues” eventually convinces them to stop updating, and sometimes even writing in general.

Crossovers- Funny enough, I wasn’t actually a fan of crossovers. Imagine my surprise that not only are half my stories crossovers themselves, but somewhat decent ones at that, and very popular it seems. If you’re going to do it, then do it, especially if it’s a crossover that hasn’t been done before, whether from lack of plot or bravery to actually post it. I broke the barrier between Harry Potter and Mass Effect, being the first one to ever publish a story between the two (I’m not arrogant enough to believe I was the first one to write one ever), and quite a few have followed in my footsteps, and have produced some good and interesting stories. Would they have done so otherwise at a later date? Maybe, I can’t be certain, but seeing that somebody else already had probably bolstered them into doing the same. Anyone reading this can do the same. If it helps, think of it this way. When making a crossover, you know have at the very least TWO source materials to draw inspiration from to make a story. That and, no matter what anybody tells, there is going to be at least one person who is eagerly awaiting whatever crossover you have in mind, and would be more then pleased to see that somebody had the courage to not only write a story out, but publish it as well.

Harem- These type of stories are getting fairly popular since I first found this site, which was back in ’04, and even more so when I officially joined five years after. Back then, they were the exception, nowadays they seem to be the norm, though the quality of these stories seem to have degraded as I’ve found many people whom despise them. I don’t mind them, and have in fact read a few myself, and have some on my Story Alert’s. Does something like that happen realistically? Obviously not often, and when it does, it nine times out of ten doesn’t end well. Regardless of that, this is a site dedicated to fanfiction. People can write such stories if they so desire, and people can read them at their leisure and either hate it or love it. Personally, I prefer stories where if such a pairing is in use, I would prefer if it weren’t large, inducting more than a half dozen women/men unless specifically for reasons for the plot (and even half a dozen is pushing it for me), and secondly if the character’s remained true to their base personalities. I understand that certain changes can and often times need to be made, but having two characters that hold no attraction or feelings outside of contempt suddenly finding the other irresistible and/or sexually attractive for the sake of their shared lover is…very overdone and sadly, not that appealing when you’ve seen probably a thousand times over.

I'll probably add more at a later date if it strikes me as important enough to actually jot down...

My Stories...

Naruto: All of my Naruto series stories are on hold at the moment. I’m not discontinuing any of them, but note that I probably won’t update them until my other works are probably finished or close to completion. Most, if not all of them will undergo a serious rewrite, seeing as I have improved as a writer since I first started, and with the changes in the series may have to rework the plots for my stories to incorporate the new information now revealed since then. Apologies to anyone who was hoping for an update for them, but that probably won’t be happening anytime soon.

Harry Potter Non-Crossovers: Same thing with my Naruto stories, though they’ll probably get more attention and a lot sooner. I was particularly fond of my HP: Redux story, though I’ll probably change the title into something a little more catchy.

Terminator: My What Should Have Been series, quite literally my pride and joy when I first started on this website as a writer. It deserves to be finished and given a satisfying conclusion, if only because it was what the written work that should that not only could I actually write a good story, but a story that people actually loved to read.

My Popular/Future Works: I’m going to be spending most of my time updating and finishing these stories. They’ve garnered the most fans, and I owe it to my readers to finish the journey I set them on the moment they read that first chapter and believed that this story was worth following. Note that I will still occasionally post other stories, though I’m trying to get into the habit of writing out most if not the entire story ahead of time before posting, if only to make the long weeks and months of waiting for an update to be sparse and far in between.
