![]() Author has written 31 stories for Fullmetal Alchemist, Lord of the Rings, Hellsing, Labyrinth, Samurai 7, Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal, Bones, and Code Geass. I am a high school science teacher in the US. I've been reading fanfics for several years, but delayed joining this site for some time. Finally, I realized that it was the best place to keep track of multiple fandoms at once. Sometimes, I find it tedious to sift through a lot of stories I'm not interested in reading, but there are some really good stories and talented writers here. And now that I'm a member, I can review the stories that had disabled anonymous reviews :) Be warned that I do jump fandoms fairly frequently. My first love (and biggest obsession) is Tolkien - everything the man wrote, but particularly hobbits and Silmarillion elves. My involvement in Harry Potter fandom is mostly limited to Snape, though I enjoy reading other stories from time to time. My current interest is Fullmetal Alchemist. In general, I'm not interested in pairings, just character development, angst, and plot. But Royai might change my mind on that front ;). Either way, don't expect me to write much romance. My stories do include the occasional reference to canon pairings. In real life, I am an appropriate age to be dating: Faramir, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Roy Mustang and Snape at the beginning of the Harry Potter books. See, my crushes are age-appropriate! :) 7/6/08 - I've recently added Hellsing to my repertoire. It's an interesting story, but I'm certainly glad I haven't been waiting since 1997 for it to reach its climax! Timeline for my Hellsing Oneshots: A Game of Chess, Integra in Training (not a one-shot), Courtesy Calls (humor), Snapshot in Time, Family Obligations, Misgivings, Second Guessing, For His Own Purposes 5/7/09: I finally wrote a songfic. It was inevitable ;). But I more incorporate ideas I get from songs rather than write stories that match a song anyway. And I take them completely out of context, for the fun of it ;). For instance, when I think of Snape, I think of "Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd or "Behind Blue Eyes" by the Who or "Voodoo" by Godsmack. But when I wrote a story about him (Metanoia: the Conversion of Severus Snape), what lyrics snuck in (albeit heavily disguised)? From Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven:" there's still time to change the road you're on ...and you give me joy that's unspeakable from "Joy" by the Newsboys. In the fic, characters listen to Traffic's "John Barleycorn Must Die" and Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London." Definitely not a songfic. But "The Seduction of the Accomplice"? Totally a songfic. The whole story matches the idea incorporated in a song: "The One Thing" by Paul Colman Trio: http:///lyrics/ligyrics.htm#TOT Well, the first half of the song, anyway. Sung about God, it's a sweet enough song, maybe even reassuring. But apply it to the wrong thing, and it's downright sinister. Don't worry, I won't be quoting the song in the story. You can hear it on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dgrigf-Ca48 This is just a very convoluted way of saying I like the TV show Bones now, in particular, Dr. Zack Addy. 8/24/09: I also like Code Geass. If I get my act together, I will write some backstory for that. But I am accumulating a few too many unfinished fics, so I need to think about cleaning house and finishing some of them soon. That is not a promise. If you knew how seldom I actually cleaned my house... 2/20/10: If I were someone who made AMV's, I'd make one for Lelouch/Zero out of Matthew West's "The Motions": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaHmiFaX_pk Instead, I'm (slowly) working on a couple of Code Geass fics that are nowhere near completion. The backstory one has been on the shelf for awhile, but I do have an AU that is taking shape as well. It diverges from the canon plotline towards the end of season one. If anyone would like to beta, let me know... I also think it would be amusing to write a Tsubasa/Code Geass crossover (it would easily be canon for TRC!), but I have no intention of doing so at the moment. 10/23/10: I've been translated! The wonderful Etoile-de-saphir has translated 'Warning Signs' (easily my most popular FMA ficlet) into French! Please check it out: http://www.fanfiction.ws/s/6377691/1/Warning_Signs 12/13/10: *Glares at unfinished fics hopelessly* I need to get back to writing. I miss it. Maybe over Christmas... 1/19/12: I've moved to Ethiopia. Please excuse my failure to reply to comments and messages; I don't have internet access very often. 5/3/12: So, I can upload stories here! Hopefully, I'll finish some of my works in progress. 11/27/16: I live in the States again and I no longer teach. I am thinking about getting back into writing, but I wouldn't hold your breath. I am (unfortunately) more likely to start something new than to update anything here. I have some fic archived on other sites. If you are interested, feel free to check it out: Harry Potter stories, all about Snape: http:///viewuser.php?uid=6945 Lord of the Rings stories, featuring the hobbits: http:///author.asp?AuthID=1902 Silmarillion stories, featuring Fëanoreans: http:///archive/home/viewuser.php?uid=13 Disclaimer: All of my work on this site is fanfiction, and therefore derivative. The characters are not mine, unless I invented them, the settings and situations are not mine (unless they failed to appear in the original), and the plot may be mine, unless I stole the idea from someone else. In general, I try to acknowledge most inspiration beyond the original work (when I can remember where I got it from), but I see little need to point out that I did not, for instance, write the Silmarillion or draw Fullmetal Alchemist. What is mine is the writing, but as we all know, that's not really worth anything. |
