![]() Author has written 13 stories for Dresden Files, Doctor Who, and Supernatural. I'm a Gemini, I like Pina Colada's and getting caught in the rain. Aha, I do. When I say television is my hobby people give me strange looks, almost turning their nose up, thinking to themselves, 'what a lazy couch potato' but for me, TV is so much more than a way to past the time. People enjoy movies, they don't mind admitting that, but TV is something bigger and better although often made with a less than big budget. Watching a movie you have 2 hours to learn about a character, to appreciate a plot. In just one TV season you have near 22 hours to immerse yourself in a world, in a character, in an intricate plot and that is what I am fascinated in. I want to write for TV when I finish school because there are just no limits to what is possible on the silver screen. Even with a small budget, technological advances now mean if you think it, you can do it...you can do anything. I watch because showrunners/writers/directors/producers always surprise me, it's always a wonder as to what they come up with next. On occasion it may be an idea we've seen before, but that doesn't matter because every idea has thousands of ways of being expressed, each quite different than before. It's not the destination or the end result, but the journey to that end result. I love waiting to see that potential achieved. Sometimes it happens and what I then watch is a masterpiece. Sometimes it fails, sometimes it all turns to slop (yes, I'm speaking to you Heroes), but that sets me alight too as I look at it and ponder what I would have done if I had the chance; how I would have made it better. And I want to one day have that chance. So when people ask me why I watch TV my simple answer is that, well, because I enjoy it. But it is more than that, much more. For now, I turn to fanfiction as one vehicle to help drive this passion. I love to think. In fact, I think I think too much. As in, I over think. I suppose that makes me a very cautious person. I also find myself good at thinking up things...as in, but not limited to, awesome ideas for new fics. Sad that they never seem to make the transition from brain to paper very well. The internet is a large part of my life, purely because not many people here in my area (or country for that matter) share my enthusiasm for all these fictional characters. Hello internet and your hundreds of millions of users. There is a high possiblity that I might share something in common with at least a couple of those people out there online. Hopefully. - These are MY shows, the shows I have faithfully watched every episode of: Torchwood, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Dresden Files, House, Heroes, Prison Break, Psych, Kyle XY, Journeyman, Firefly, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, Dead Like Me, Chuck, Life on Mars (UK), Ashes to Ashes, October Road, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Dexter, Bones, Dark Angel, Carnivale, Reaper, Robin Hood, How I Met Your Mother, Dirty Sexy Money. And lastly, Doctor Who, my first ever TV love, I've seen all the NuSeries and as much of the old as I can. Doctor Who will forever hold a tender spot in my heart, I love it and will never outgrow its daft plots and outrageous aliens. I will ship Ten and Rose for eternity, will love Donna Noble 'till I die. But sadly for DW, at the moment my heart has been kidnapped by... Supernatural. My first memory of it is having friends over and Bloody Mary was on- in hilarious due course we were freaking each other out saying it in the mirror during the commercials. SPN totally rules my life at the moment which is probably very sad. But my stepfather is a Trekkie so the mocking works both ways. Damn, those boys. I mean, come on, really...fellow saltgunners know what I mean. Ah, Sam, ah Dean. This is a show equally plot/action/character driven. It's good, people. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles hold the whole thing together, each in nearly every scene, they are the most hardworking men out there. Plus they are always out and about at Conventions, meeting fans with smiles on their faces. You can't really beat that in people to hero worship. Plus, they are rather purty! Seriously, clever written, cleverly shot, cleverly acted. Win win win. For those in the US, Season Five premieres Thursday September 10th 9/8c on the CW and, if you're like me and stuck in New Zealand, season 3 is wrapping up on Fridays, 10.30pm on TV2. WATCH IT! GIVE IT A GO! PM me if you're wanting to say hi, you've never met me, probably never will, but I'm always up for a friendly convo about anything we have in common. "Time is a lot of the things people say that God is. There's the always preexisting, and having no end. There's the notion of being all powerful - because nothing can stand against time, can it? Not mountains, not armies. And time is, of course, all-healing. Give everything enough time, and everything is taken care of: all pain encompassed, all hardship erased, all loss subsumed." - Diana Gabaldon "When you're a kid, they tell you its all grow up, get a job, get married, get a house, have a kid and that's it. Oh - the truth is the world is so much stranger than that, its so much darker, and so much madder, and SO much better..." - Elton Pope - DOCTOR WHO "It is acknowledged that there is a huge canon of literature in the world, and one person cannot possibly ruin it." - Anon |
