Magnum Opus is a fanfiction idea that started to form in my head in the summer of 2011 while waiting for Mass Effect 3 to come out. The original premise was that of an alternate first contact story where the Alliance had a different technology tree than the council races, due mainly to the holographic mustache-twirling villain monolog on Virmire in ME1, where Nazara (Sovereign) outright tells Shepard that the Reapers have been purposely leaving technology behind to limit the technological development of the organic races to make them easy prey.

A few friends and I talked about the different ways that using this technology was limiting the ability to fight off the reapers, and how you could develop technology that would be significantly different than what is canon. One of the main goals was to keep it within the realm of possibility, using materials available in the Mass Effect universe.

Over time the idea grew to be of rather epic proportions, as more and more ideas got thrown in to flesh out how this all came about, instead of just throwing up a timeline or going 'oh hey, yeah, we have one of those'. What was originally going to be a single chapter or so ended up becoming an entire book worth of plot on its own, giving birth to 'Exodus'. Several of the books after that will be leading forward in time as Humanity spreads out in their little corner of space, and it will take some time before First Contact.

Due to the daunting size of this story, it is currently on hiatus while I work on something less serious. I had stopped writing on Magnum Opus late last year when I came down with a rather nasty flu, and I ended up getting back into playing World of Warcraft with Amedao (my best friend, co-conspirator, and beta-reader), just as my workplace got busy for the holidays. With all of my energy being split between those two, I didn't have any to spare for writing.

Badger is a Naruto fanfiction whose idea came at me out of the blue right around the time that I got tired of playing World of Warcraft once more. Since Amedao is much more familiar with Naruto than Mass Effect, it has been much easier for both of us to work together on this story, and he has been a great help with making this story take form.

We are working together to make sure that content gets released on a reliable basis. Our current plan is to attempt to have a chapter released each weekend late Friday night, though the exact timing may very due to shifting work schedules. We appreciate all those who have either favorited or followed Badger, and enjoy reading every review we receive, no matter how small or large it is.
