I think this is a good speculation piece. He's being raised more as a "handle with care" object rather than as a child, and it comes through. Very nice, and thanks for sharing!

That was AMAZING.

I'm not usually one for character study type things - they usually just don't do it for me, for some reason. This is one of the few exceptions. It's speculation on a very gripping, involving level and I'm pretty sure I couldn't tear my eyes from the screen right until the very end.

Definitely favourited.

I never considered this facet of Gaara's infancy and I loved this small glimpse into Yashamaru's mindset. We get to see his softer side, but the underlying disconnect is lurking under the surface quite deliciously. Thanks for sharing.

I've been looking for this story for ages! You know that way where you remember reading something; you can remember the odd quote or two and the general atmosphere, but nothing else, and every so often a strident reminder pops up like an annoying alarm clock telling you to re-read the story... but, how can you when you can't find it?

I feel better now that I've gotten re-aquainted. I really enjoyed this. The semi-omniscient POV with Yashamaru as the kind of narrator was very well done. And you used parenthetic bracket things near the middle. I love me some parenthetic bracket things. The description and slow building tension was absolutely scrumptious - the whole thing just screamed creepy without being overt-horror-gouts-of-arterial-blood-and-organs-everywhere... mostly. Can't have Gaara without blood, after all.

Long story short; this was orgasmic. Thank you.
