This is a serious attempt at a "real" season, embracing all the major characters, and most minor ones, and major/minor plotlines for each of them. There will be 10 episodes plus a Christmas Special. Matthew comes home from war badly shellshocked, while Mary is reeling from the publication of her scandal. They both need to escape and heal. Perhaps, they can do so together.

Seven years after Matthew married Lavinia, Mary is living in London. She has moved on with her life, but things are about to change in ways she never expected.

So Mary has married Henry, and is having her happily ever after. What if one hell of a monkey wrench was thrown into the mix in the form of Matthew Crawley alive? Yes, I am revisiting the amnesia angle but with more marital angst and much less aka ZERO physical assault and torture. This is a straight "what if Matthew didn't die and turns up in 1927 after Mary has married Henry?"

Sequel to The Fox Hunt. After the events of The Fox Hunt, things are still awkward at Downton Abbey. Matthew is alive and well, with his memory intact but the trial of the Duke of Crowborough looms, and it could have long term ramifications for the Crawleys and the estate.

What might have happened at Downton Abbey had the events after the concert in series two, episode four gone a bit differently. "To say that I dont love you anymore- Well Mary, that would be lying." The story is better than the summary, I promise you that!
