Author has written 2 stories for Love Hina, Harry Potter, and Kingdom Hearts.
How would you describe me? Well have you tried my page on Tvtropes? http:///pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tropers/PrinnyRamza
Oh wait, no don't try that, its crap. My page, not tvtropes that is. Love that site in a way that is probably not healthy.
Well I'm not much of a writer. That's really a polite way of saying I kind of suck at it, but hey I'm gonna try anyway.
Advice List
I enjoy a good fanfic here or there and I've been reading them for enough time to pick up some stuff. Sadly this will probably not transfer into my own writing, I am beyond help, I do hope that it'll help some of you guys out there. Here's what to do and not do when writing your own fanfic.
1. Turn a Character into a Sue:
We all know what a Mary Sue is. A character who is perfect. They make no mistakes, they breathe they take cures a kid of cancer and they get all of members of the opposite gender to fall for them, except of course anyone the author hates. This idea is generally attached to OCs, and while this is more likely than not true, it actually happens more to an existing character. It is as if people were afraid that if they made an OC, people would know it was a Sue, so they decided to dress it up as a main character. I'm gonna use Naruto as an example (get use to it). There are a lot of fics where Naruto gains a power of some sort, like say a bloodline (even through one of the themes of the series is that you don't need them to be strong), okay cool, that could be interesting. Different powers could result in a completely different scenarios, however what ends up happening is that he backhands every challenge with no struggle. And that is the backbone of any story, struggle. The challenge in front of the main character has to actually be challenging.
2. Despite a Nail:
If you love tvtropes as much as i do than you've might come across the page "Stations of Canon". This describes how in fanfiction, things tend to happen exactly how they did in canon. Well I'm going to admit this can get really boring. The point of fanfiction is that its not canon. You can have anything happen. Whats worst is that authors force canon to happen even when it just doesn't make sense anyone. You've wrote Naruto as clam and mature? He will still complain like a brat to the Hokage to get a C-mission. Naruto is suddenly a genius? He will pretend to be stupid because well... cause that lets everyone be surprise when he tosses them like rag dolls. What is worse is that sometimes when the character gains information that could very well change everything, nothing will change as all. Like Naruto finds out Mizuki is a traitor early. He will tell no one period.
3. Be creative:
This is similar to number 2. However while most people will end up with a plot painfully similar to each other. Some will decide to pretty much just rewrite another person's fic. The writing is different, the plot is the same. If there is a lot of stories where Mizuki is found out, try to imagine what would happen if for example he was never found out as a traitor. If there are a lot of fics where Naruto backhands Neji, have some where loses that fight. Hell even have him lose some fights that he won in canon. It would be different.
4. Start Late:
Okay so far I've mentioned Mizuki from Naruto a hell of a lot of times. He was a minor villian early in the series that did nothing for the story after he was defeated. Why does he matter, he doesn't. There's sometime is no reason to right about him at all. There is sometime no reason to write form the beginning of the series. Start where everything is different. The point where we're are bound to say, "wait what?". Don't be afraid that your reader won't catch up, that is what flashbacks are for.
5. Avoid Life Stories:
This is something that happens plenty in life stories. One party meets another meets another, each member is introducing himself and than one guy just start talking about how he watched his mom kill herself or something else personal along that line. Sometimes this happens when the author wants one character to give a "what the hell" type moment to another. Now think about the last really tragic thing that happened to you. Would you just tell just any old person about that? Even if you were pissed off at them? No because, you would think that people would define you by that moment. People don't know everything about everyone around them. They usually only give vague bits and pieces every once in a while. I'm not saying don't have life stories all together, just have a justification. Like for example the exchange of stories could be a symbol of trust.
Finish Projects:
Currant Projects:
Relaxation Hina Inn: Kingdom Hearts/Love Hina Crossover: 0% Done with Chapter 3
Furture Projects: (Things I want to write, but probably will be too lazy to)
Untitled Disgaea X Teen Titans Crossover: Curious about Mao's obsession with heroes, Raspberyl searches through his "research material" and discovers information about Raven and her bloodline. She travels to Jump City to meet the demonic hero, (the ultimate badass) and learn from her. Mao learning about this, follows her and becomes determine to correct the idea of a "demon being a hero" and instead tries to groom her to become a demon lord and his vessel.
Untitled Mass Effect X Familiar of Zero Crossover: Saito, a techie drafted into the marines during the reaper's invasion of earth, finds himself summoned by Louise. Though he is worried about his home, he finds peace that the human race's spirit might live on in Louise's people. Relaxing, however might not be the best plan, as there might be a chance that the war might follow him.
Ultimate Ninja Omega: A Naruto fic. The adventures of Naruto and his friends from the beginning, just a bit more badass. A immortal Naruto, A superhero Sasuke and a Sakura with psychic abilities. Will include many crossovers and references.
Untitled Naruto X Disgaea Crossover: Naruto has to fight a secret war in order to become the Overlord of the elemental country or the ninja world is doomed to be overran.
Tower XVI -Beta-: A Persona X Ranma 1/2 crossover. Instead of tutoring Shu Nakajima, Yu decides that he should train more with Chie. By chance they run into Ranma Saotome who agrees to give them some pointers. Everytime they meet, Yu and Ranma put aside a little time to have a good meal.
