I am a Mexican-American that Lives in the sunshine State.

Where I live, the white people have the minority rate.

And yet still even here in my home I fight.

I dare anyone to explain to me how that's right.

I'm not considered normal by the rest of my group.

I want to break the cycle and they want to continue the constant loop

and rewind and replay the past they come from

they don't understand that I want some

Success and change; I don't want to be like my Mom or my Dad

I'd rather die than follow the landscape fad.

Because Me? I am not just a wetback who got away from the law.

I am here to fight for my diploma; I'll break arms, legs, and a jaw

In order to be who I want to be I'll do my part.

And if it means standing alone...then maybe that's why they call me smart.

Because I knew that I had to break free.

Life sucks and then you die
