Kira has just confessed. A new piece of legislation indicating divine right to pass judgment, known as the Kira Rights Act, is about to be passed. Jane Moorgate is a corporate and litigation lawyer, which is why she is surprised when someone turns up asking for her help in one of the biggest criminal cases in history. They claim Kira isn't really Kira, and they want to sue the world's new God.

But as things go deeper, and religious rights are questioned, things begin to get dangerous, not only for her clients, but for Jane herself.

At a private school run by the reclusive Mr. Winters, students claim to have seen and been contacted by the ghost of a former student who killed herself after bullying drove her over the edge. This seems like the perfect case for a bored Sherlock Holmes and loyal John Watson, but the tight-lipped staff and students seem desperate to keep the past in the past.

Filled with twists, turns and a fully-fledged mystery, The Mysterious Reappearance of Lauren Riley seeks to entertain, provoke and humanize.

(Possibly Sherlock/unknown, but this will probably be a friendship. It depends on how the pilot chapter is received. The pilot chapter of this fic will not be released until after the final episode of series 3, "His Last Vow".)
