On to why I'm writing . . .

“Blame Lothithil”. I do.

You see, way back in 1983, I started to write fanfic – mostly Doctor Who and Blake’s 7 – and to edit the fanfic my friends were writing . . .

. . . and in 1985, I stopped writing.

I wasn’t any good at it. Not my gift.

I wanted to write. But darn the fairies at my cradle . . they apparently bestowed on me, instead, the gift of being a really good editor. At least, that’s what I’ve been told by the writers with whom I have been privileged to work over the years. And they should know! But no matter how wonderful a privilege it is to work with a writer, I never stopped wanting to do it myself.

Blame Lothithil. I thought I was just going to work with her as a beta reader/editor . . . but buried inspiration caught up with me, and her encouragement and support have smoothed the path for me. And it seems that I learned a few things over the last quarter-century.

So starting three years ago, I began to try again. Since then, let's see: three novels, two novellas, one short story, and a smattering of drabbles and vignettes. Over 200k words of completed work: not bad for someone who will never be able to write, huh?

Other stuff about me: I live in the US; I'm native to the Pacific Northwest, and am currently living in Florida, go figure. I'll get home eventually! I’m a voracious reader with a devoted and patient wife (who is also a fic writer), a background in theatre and a dubious past in folk music, inclined to optimism and addicted to wordplay.

I have a LiveJournal site, which consists of 'LOLMacs': LOLCats-style captions on screen captures from MacGyver and Stargate.
