9-4-07 Oh My Goddess! I was in English reading Beowulf, and we had to write down the characteristics that make an epic story and an epic hero. Harry Potter fulfils all of them! Check it out!

Epic must contain-

1. elevated language- hello! he's british and he has his freaky wizard language!

2. cultural, national, or religious values- he has all his wizardy values, that's a culture

3. struggle against good v.s. evil- Voldymort...helloooooooo

4. epic hero- Harry

Epic hero must be,

1. outsider- didn't know he was a wiz for long time and he is a sad wittle orphan...

2. re-establish order- does that after every book

3. respect for others- he has respect for house elves, goblins, hippogriffs...etc.

4. skill w/ weapons- wand, duh!

5. personal sacrifice- he is constantly sacrificing himself for others, too many times to explain!

6. has to be different- has scar, weird connection with Voldy, orphan...blah blah blah.

7. rides off into sunset- he always does right ater he saves the day!

In conclusion, Harry Potter is an epic story and he is an epic hero. Ta Freakin Da!

7-6-07- Dude...I just noticed something, Crabbe and Goyle have not said one word throughout the entire series...except for the seventh book. that's funny.
