Author has written 5 stories for Gilmore Girls. Info about me: Female 20-something, (more 'something' than 20, let me tell you), who is a college grad, has a full time job, has a dog, and is addicted to fanfiction. It started about 10 years ago...this show named Friends invaded my world and kind of took over. And when watching and rewatching episodes just wasn't enough, I started looking on the internet. No idea how I finally found this place, but it was here, ff dot net, that it all started. Then life happened and me and my dearest love, (fanfiction), slowly drifted apart. Every now and then, I would even try to rekindle the flame but to no avail. I figured I had aged out of it, that it was just a "fad". And it was sad, but at the same time, liberating. I didn't need it anymore. Because believe me, I was addicted. I'd print out stories for car rides, classes, dinner! And so, leaving my obsession behind, I went along with my life. Went to college, had fun with my 3 dimensional friends, leaving my obsession, and I use the word obsession conservatively here, behind. My FRIENDS tapes and dvds went under the bed. My fanfiction name gathered dust. Then one day, after graduation, I quit my first job. That's right, I wasn't going to be treated, well, like an intern! (Even though I was an intern, a PAID intern, but intern nonetheless. Damn pride.) Yeah, it was stupid, and I didn't have anything else lined up, and unemployment happened. I didn't mind. I had plenty of things to do. Right-enter sarcasm here. All my friends were employed! There was nothing to do at all. Then one day, after a stint of procrastination, I decided that I'd clean my room and watch my roommates Gilmore DVDs. I decided I'd watch the Pilot just to see if it was worth it. By the end of the day, I had gone through like 4 discs. Umm, I'm embarrassed to disclose this next little piece of information, but keep in mind, I was unemployed, and very bored. And well, started on Season 1 on a Tuesday, by the next Tuesday, I had finished Season 5. (Umm, thanks to a good friend of mine who had illegal downloading capabilities that I DO NOT condone.) But it was a drug! One day of that wonderful week was an all-nighter. Well, needless to say, after that week, I had a major drought. I had nothing new to watch and man, I loved this show. Then I remembered something from my childhood. That's right. It was here I came. And here I am now. And wow, this is long and unnecessary and probably never going to be read. But I hate staring at a blank page. It is now that I really have become a huge fanfiction activist. Believe me, I fight many battles for the world of fanfiction. Small battles, but battles nonetheless. When you talk to people about fanfic, its amazing how misunderstood it is. Many of my friends don't understand my obsession. I explain like this: 'Take two of your passions and combine them. What do you get?' 'Now, can you guess what I get?' Also, want to know what I was so busy doing during my fanfiction hiatus? Check out my link. Its a project I've been working on for future entertainment biz wannabes. Gradually being updated. Should be up to date by the end of the summer. I want to hear your stories, hopes, plans! |
