Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter. I am an 18 year old girl who is just finishing her second term of college. Final exams are scaring me as they are just around the corner, but my only concolation is that they will be over soon! And then it's summer! In-Progress: Undercover Queers and the Homophobic Society I have to admit (albeit, reluctantly) that I have seriously hit a roadblock (in other words, I have written myself into a corner and don't know how to fix it). It has been a number of months since I've updated Undercover Queers and I must say that I am not pleased with the story I have posted so far. Consequently, I have decided to revamp the story and rewrite it. I have planned out the whole story and am in the middle of rewriting it. I want to finish it before I post online. When I went over my work, I was not happy with the story. There will be a number of changes though the basic story will be the same, if not more focused on the political aspect of homosexuality in Wizarding society. Also, I wanted to add more depth to the relationship between the eight friends, most especially the romantic relationship between Draco and Harry. I have currently written about 13000 words and I expect it will be anywhere from 80000 and 120000 worss when I am done. This story is not abandoned, I assure you. I am trying to write as quickly as possible so that I can post it. But it will take a while. Sorry. I am also rewriting Here I Am just because I'm not overly pleased with the version that is currently posted online. I also just wanted to promote a website I recently found called BetaFinder. It's brand new, so there aren't very many members, but it would be great if people could sign up as betas or writers and help the site grow. Here's the URL: http:///index.cgi Favorite Stories I'm going through my favorites list and have started to write little mini reviews for the ones that really stand out. All the ones I have on that favorites list are good, but I thought that a few especially deserved some recognition on my profile. The stories listed below are definitely worth reading, if you like those pairings. More reviews will be added later (I have to re-read some of the stories). Harry Potter Snarry Tread Softly by Dius Corvus - This story is remarkable. In this story, after the final battle with Voldemort, something happens to Harry and he is sent back to the year 1977 - the year that his father, mother and Sirius and Snape are all in their seventh and final year at Hogwart's. This is not a happy story. Really, if you're looking for fluff and laughs, you won't find it here. Anyways, probably one of the things that impressed me the most was the way that Dius managed to make everything fit together. If you told me that Dius had gotten the plot and story idea from Rowling herself, I would have believed you. The characterization of Harry throughout the story was done very well. Even though Dius sort of created a new character, he still managed to portray Harry in a way that makes sense to me, considering the circumstances that are presented in the story. I also liked his portrayal of Severus Snape, James Potter, and Lily Evans, especially. There were a few times where obvious errors in canon or storyline sort of startled me and sat unwell in my stomach but overall, the story was ingeniously woven and I can promise you that you won't find another story quite like this one on fanfiction.net. Mistletoe by Forever then some - This is a lighthearted story about Severus Snape, Harry Potter, and Snape's Muggle aunt, Clara. In this story, Snape's aunt wants to meet the fiance Snape has told her about. However, he only told her he was getting married so that she would stop pestering him about settling down. Of course, her visit is entirely unexpected and due to a number of circumstances, Harry ends up pretending to be Snape's 'fiance' and stays at Spinner's End for the Christmas holidays. Though similar plots have been overdone (and not well, I might add), this story is not only well-written, but Forever then some really has an awesome sense of humour. I must say, Aunt Clara has quickly become one of my most favourite characters. Even though she's not canon, she's awesome. |
