After being rescued from a Galra prison ship by the Blade of Marmora, young amnesiac Kethe decides to throw his lot in with the order. He doesn't ever expect to find answers as to who he is, or where he came from- but as it turns out, they find him, in the form of the paladins of Voltron.

AU. When her brother and father disappear without a trace during the Kerberos mission, Pidge sets out to find them. What she finds instead is an escaped half-alien fugitive, running from the same empire her family's been taken by. Convincing him to take her to space with him is the first step, and from there, well... as they say, when you look for trouble, it tends to find you.

Lance can't see color but when they form Voltron, he can.

"There is no escape for you, Paladin," Haggar whispered, voice echoing from from the very depths of his mind and filling Lance with a horror and dread he could not begin to describe. "Not from this ship. Not from death." She let out a soft laugh that rang with dark promise. Lance doesn't know how long he's been a slave in the mines except that it's been a long, long time. He knows pain though. And death. And silence. But most of all he knows despair. It's a suffocating darkness that seeks to snuff out his last dying ember of hope. But his is not a spark so easily extinguished. He just needs something to rekindle it. And now that something has arrived.

(SEQUEL) Keith still can't believe it. Him. A foster kid. At the Garrison. It's a dream come true and he owes it all to Shiro. Shiro though is just excited to give Keith this new life and chance at a bright future. But not everyone is happy with this change to the status quo. And they aren't going to stand idly by and watch Shiro throw away his life, his dreams, for some kid.

"The brightest smiles can hide the most broken hearts..." It was supposed to be an ordinary Paladin bonding exercise. But Lance hides an awful lot behind that smile. Humans and Dragons were forever bonded together. The only way you can tell which dragon is your other half of your soul is if you see them in their human form, while they're still a dragon. The reason why the shack was still standing, was because it was bleak and empty. It was unremarkable, nondescript, and every cliff looked like the one before it. Maybe that's why the Garrison never found the shack, or maybe they didn't care to look for it. (Maybe that's why the Paladins hadn't either.) And when he found a cliff just high enough, he'd dangle his legs and scream.

Lance breaks down after a mission, not knowing that his comm was on. The rest of the team overhears.
