Normally I just read these things, but I'm gathering my courage to try writing for a change.

I have several ideas for stories and rough-drafts saved in notebook from my time spent in and out of hospitals over the last several years overcoming two cancer diagnoses. I'll spare everyone the details, but there were significant periods of time where I couldn't speak, so I was forced to write everything down. While communicating with those around me was extremely difficult, I learned to enjoy writing as a form of expression.

That said, I've only ever truly written for myself. I've never published anything and I'm certainly not a professional writer, but I'd love to share some of the stories I've thought up to entertain myself over the last few years and hone my writing skills.

For those who are curious, the Christmas in my story Five Christmases that was inspired by my own life was the proposal—my husband proposed to me in a bookstore we explored on our first date by hiding a book in the shelves for me to find...and I ruined his whole plan when I failed to find it! I felt terrible at the time but we laugh about it now!
