Someone with an unbreakable bond to John returns to his life, leaving him more vulnerable than ever before. In a good way. – UPDATE 21 December 2018: Epilogue to the epilogue posted, because ... you know, Christmas.

A chance, no matter how negligible, is still a chance. This is a fact not lost on the Machine. If anyone could survive the final showdown with Samaritan, it would be John Reese. He just didn't know it at the time.

The holidays are around again with John still getting use to no longer being dead on paper. He's out for drinks with Lionel, wishing to himself that Joss was there with him. Thanks to some choice words and costume choices by Shaw, his night could get a little more interesting.

"Finch blinked. For a man with so many shades of grey, Reese could be quite binary. Alive or dead, that was it. Nothing in between… like a probably very painful injury in his shoulder." Reese gets hurt… Finch takes care of him.

"Stitch him up, no questions asked, and you can be a doctor again." For one brief moment Dr. Farooq Madan was back in Iraq— bright red blood, a living man on the gurney. And when the orderly—no, of course, not an orderly—came to the end of his plea and lowered his gaze to the floor, it struck Farooq that in another context he would have said the man was praying.

The past has taught John to heal his own wounds (or ignore them completely). But when a new number has ties to some old history, it may take more than one man to set things right.

What if John Reese and Joss Carter's paths had crossed long before that fateful subway ride? What if they were star-crossed lovers from the get go but didn't know it? And what if it all started with a fateful kiss of life? My take on why Reese was so possessive of Joss and the reason why she laid her life down for him. May be multi-chaptered.

John's days on the streets. "He blinked and just stared at her. It wasn't an angry stare. But it wasn't kind either. In fact, it lacked life at all. She felt like she was looking into the eyes of a dead corpse." May be a series of one shots.

John Reese has just finished protecting the two latest numbers from a violent crime. What is uncertain, however, is whether he'll be able to do the same for himself when the ghosts of his past return to haunt him. The final heart-wrenching moments and thoughts of Number Crunch (1.10) alternating from Reese's POV to Finch's.

"Harold Finch had missed something, a clue to a threat, which had cost him dearly. And so far he hadn't been able to find out when exactly it all had gone wrong - which was ridiculous in his mind - considering that he had created the most powerful surveillance tool the world had ever seen." - Set in late season two. And, well ... Reese whump (couldn't help myself).

This is the third story in the Wolf series. John Reese's parents were murdered over twenty years ago and John was banished from his own pack. Now John and his mate Joss return to his hometown to solve the murder.

Reese and Joan meet. The CIA makes their second attempt to capture Reese.

Reese is wounded. Carter's hurt. The car is totaled. It's a long wait for Finch to arrive.

John wakes up in an alley on a cold winter night not remembering anything except the name Joan. He goes to Joan for help to heal from his injuries and remember who he is and what he does.

When Reese is injured, he reluctantly goes to the Library for help.

Reese found himself in a bad situation. They had saved the wrong person again. Finch will need some help to rescue his partner. Rated T for violence and torture. Don't read if you don't like it. Reese/Carter/Finch...

When the new number comes up, Finch and Reese find that things are not always what they seem.

After he's shot, John wonders if he'll ever escape the darkness.
