Okay, so I like to learn a little bit about other authors, so I'll tell you a little bit about myself. Hobbies: Favorite Video Game Series: Favorite Mario Character: Favorite Movies: Important to Me: I am a Christian, which means I've been forgiven of my sins and follow Jesus. We live in a world broken by sin, and every one of us is at fault. All of us have a sinful nature; it might come out in different ways for each individual, but all of us have hurt God and each other. We've ignored and rejected God, and we tend to put ourselves before others even if it's at their expense. God originally made humankind good and upright, but we chose to rebel against Him. We decided that we wanted to run the world our way instead of His way. As a result, we now live in a world full of pain, suffering, and death. "Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:37-40) "As it is written: 'There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God." (Romans 3:10-11) However, even when humankind first rebelled, God had a plan to save us. That plan was to send Jesus, God's Son, to set us free from our sins and remake us to be the people He created us to be. Through His death, through the shedding of His blood, we are forgiven of our sins and made righteous. And He didn't stay dead. Because He is God Himself, Jesus has power over death, and He proved it by resurrecting Himself. His resurrection also means that anyone who has faith in Him will be raised back to life after death, too. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) God wants you to know He loves you and that you need Him. No one is good enough to reach God. No one can earn His favor. No matter how may rules you obey, no matter how many good deeds you do, you can't earn His forgiveness. His standard is perfect, and no one except Jesus has reached that standard. "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away." (Isaiah 64:6) But you don't have to earn His forgiveness. Through Christ's blood, anyone can be freely forgiven and welcomed into God's family. And one day, God will restore the earth and make everything perfect again. There will be no more pain, crying, or death. Through His sacrifice, He has brought about our salvation, for both this life and the next. When you put your faith in Christ, you no longer have to be enslaved to pride, selfishness, or any other sins. Christ has set you free. He will bring you joy and meaning. He has rescued you so He can have a relationship with you. He wants you to call upon Him, to rely on Him, and to walk with Him. He loves you! "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) "Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways!...'" (Ezekiel 33:11) "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) "For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:8-10) If you decide to follow Christ, be aware that the road will not be easy. Becoming a Christian doesn't mean that every circumstance in your life will be fixed. You will still struggle with sin, although you're not enslaved to it anymore. Not everyone is going to like that you believe in Him, and there will be times when God asks you to do something difficult. At the same time, don't let that deter you from coming to Him. Becoming a Christian doesn't mean your life is going to be miserable. There will be tons of opportunities to rejoice and have fun, and you get to participate in bringing God's kingdom to earth! And while suffering will come, whatever suffering you may endure will be outweighed by the glorious future in store for you. And God will always be with you, through the good and through the bad. "Then [Jesus] said to them all: 'If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.'" (Luke 9:23) "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20) If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :) |
