Though this trip proves to be different, for the first time ever someone has gone back with him. Jaune for the first time is not alone as he prepares to face off against Cinder and her allies with Yang at his back does he finally have a real chance?

Opening a diner was an impetuous decision, being good at it a stroke of luck. Becoming the favourite haunt for students, teachers and criminals alike…? That was neither, but it sure did keep things interesting. Wasn't the civilian life supposed to be easier?

Jaune was tired of losing - tired of giving up whenever he felt he wasn't good enough. It was time to prove to himself, and everyone else, that he belonged at Beacon, and that he has what it took to be a Huntsman. The Vytal Tournament was coming up, but he wasn't just going to compete. He was going to win.

Yang just wanted to be a better friend to Jaune and help cheer him up, but one thing led to another. That one night together was all it took for them to see a different side of each other. Sides seldom seen... but they're still just friends. Yang is definitely not noticing the dork more and Jaune is certainly not falling for another girl. It's just some clean release. Nothing more.

Cinder hadn't been able to rescue Roman Torchwick that fateful night. Instead, he'd been captured, and sent to the most secure prison in Vale. To top it all off, he was then blackmailed into joining the staff at Beacon Academy to teach Economics. He could survive his way through murder, and theft, but would he be able to survive teenage drama or - worse yet - Beacon's faculty?

Yang wasn't used to leadership, but she wasn't going to accept Ozpin's suggestion of mandatory rest either. Not when it meant losing her spot on Team RWBY. If she had to lead a rookie squad of police officers against the White Fang to prove she could still fight, then so be it. Too bad no one told her the VSPR was made up of Vale's worst criminals, many of which she knew by name.

A fateful meeting resulted in him being assigned to watch her closely, and Mercury did his job well. However, he didn't actually plan to start caring about her. He supposed he could be worse off. Opposites attract after all, and a cookie loving huntress and a cold-blooded assassin are about as opposite as you can get.

In which teams are shuffled; Ruby feels like a one-eyed king in a land where everyone else has two; Dove babysits three avatars of chaos and destruction; and Jaune just wants his team to stop arguing for ten consecutive minutes.

Jaune had no interest in Ozpin's latest training initiative, especially when it pit boys against girls across Beacon. Cowardice or not, he intended to hide and wait the whole thing out. Leading the male alliance wasn't part of the plan, nor was becoming mankind's final hope. He was a coward, an idiot and a weakling. It was just a shame no one would believe him when he said so!

Yang knew better than to look for love in a bar. She was neither foolish nor naive. But when a chance encounter leads to a meeting with a mysterious dancer that has her heart racing, it can be hard to resist.
