Author has written 10 stories for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Harry Potter. Yeah, okay, so yesterday my friend pointed out that my profile sucks. So I changed it. First off! Iheartbd's does not stand for Iheart(my boyfriend's initials). I have no idea where you guys came up with that... bd's stands for bearded dragons. They are a species of lizard that originate in Australia. Yeah. Secondly, my profile pic is my bearded dragon. I thought that might help with the confusion of numero uno... It used to be a bunch of random facepalm images that I found mildly amusing, and before that it was a picture of Artemis Fowl, not Nico Di Angelo, although it could be. Thirdly... yeah, I don't know.' Take a look at my tumblr! I post a lot of fandom stuff, and random humorous things. Follow me and I'll follow you back! I have created a forum! Yeah, it's basically a forum that combines topics from some of the main books on FFnet. Like, a debate hall for multiple series? Yeah, something like that.. Here's the link... http://www.fanfiction.ws/myforums/Iheartbd-s/3653208/ Go check it out? You won't be disappointed... ;) So, there are a bunch of random things here that I am 'ranting' about, so if you have an opinion on any of the bolded topics, maybe you should... I don't know... read them? If you disagree, PM me with your side. I love a good argument, and who knows, you might change my mind. Rants about... ... Thalico. This is something that I don't really care too much about, but I do have a strong oppinion on it. Thalia is a hunter. Yes, she may have only joined because of the prophecy, but it has been a full year since that didn't matter anymore. I don't foresee her quitting in the near future, more like 100 or so years down the road. I guess if she does, power to her, but still... Eh. Nico and Thalia are cousins. Yes, the godly DNA doesn't count, but if I went up to you and said "DNA doesn't matter. Go date your cousin who you've been very close to for several years," would that not be awkward? They have spent so long liking each other in a brother/sister way, it would just be very awkward. That being said, I do not hate nor do I condemn Thalico, I just can't see it happening. ... Reading the Books Fanfiction. So this is one that irritates me a lot. We have this very awesome topic, but the characters, especially the gods, are all to OOC. Now, keeping everyone in character is hard since we want to see their reactions, but sometimes it gets a little overboard. For example, take the first book. Poseidon is a very 'relaxed' god, but I hate it when people make him immature or dumb him down for the Athena/Poseidon rivalry. In the conversation between Poseidon and Zeus, Poseidon says 'Peace, brother. The boy defers to his father. This is only right.' 'I have admitted to my wrongdoing. Now I would hear him speak.' 'And risk destroying your own master bolt? Let us hear him out, brother.' 'Address Lord Zeus, boy. Tell him your story.' He is formal, especially around the other Olympians. Also, he is thousands of years old. While he isn't an Athena, he certainly isn't stupid. Also, Athena and Poseidon don't argue all the time. They CERTAINLY don't call each other nicknames. It's kind of like Pride and Prejudice, where it is obvious they are insulting one another and yet they never raise their voices. Now, that said, I realize it is hard to write a funny, entertaining fanfiction without reactions and rivalry like that, I just don't find it realistic. Remember that you're going to have to rely on the demigods for that kind of humor. Also, Rick Riordan's books are hilarious by themselves. Just put in the basic comments and let the book itself do the work. Also, I don't mean I hate all of this type of fanfiction. In fact, I wish there were more TLO ones. I just think that the bad outnumber the good in that category. ... Stories without proper grammar. Okay, this makes me mad. Now, I'm not talking about simple errors or typos or things like this, what I hate are unread, most certainly unBETAed stories (though some authors don't need BETAs) like this: and i walked up to him and said "are you serious?" and he said "yeah" and then we went out for cake and pie. the sunset was so beautiful and it filled my heart with joy and i said "i love you" and he said "i love you too" and we lived happily ever after. (That was some stupid brain dribble, not a real story segment, fortunately.) So, basically, if you have no capitols for starts of sentences, little or no punctuation and incorrect quotations (aka no commas in the right places and no new paragraphs for new dialogue), I hate your story. Sorry, but you spent absolutely no time on it! If English isn't your first language, send it to a BETA. They will help you. I will help you if it means putting less of this crap on the internet. What I don't mind are accidental mistakes. No one is going to catch it all. But if your story is more mistake than it is writing, you have a problem. ... Rick Riordan's Cliffies. I am SO annoyed by that man right now! I mean, what kind of ending to a book is "Let me introduce you to my other family."? A torturous kind, that's for sure! And then, he has this sneak peek of Mark of Athena. And THAT ends with 'The Romans had spotted them.' REALLY? He has all the devoted fans who are scouring the Internet for released quotes and the like, and that's all he gives us? What about the exploding statues? He doesn't have the excuse of 'if I give them to much they won't buy the book,' because EVERYONE who is not a hater will buy it so they can read the Percabeth reunion over and over and over again! AND HE GIVES US NOTHING!!!! AHHHHH!!!! ... People who favorite stories and don't review them. Yeah, okay, I get it. You want to finish reading the story, but you don't take the time to review it. I have to say, that REALLY annoys me. Obviously you like the story, seeing that you added it to your favorites, so why don't you tell the author that in a review? Even one word! (I am the QUEEN of one word reviews...) I can also say that I have never been guilty of this. So guys, really, just review. It's so awesome when an author gets feedback, and we all know it. So why don't you review, especially if you favorite the story!! |
